Sorry about it being so short. This was made purely out of boredom and is 507 words.

“Emily!”

“Victor!”

The scream could be heard all across town. Birds stopped chirping, and deer’s took a minute to scan the allies, looking for the source of the noise.

“I have to go, Emm,”

Victor said. A shining tear rolled down his chubby cheeks.

“No, you don’t!”
Emily screamed. Tears were found on her own face now, dropping from her deep blue eyes like a broken sink.

“This is my last chance to get a job,”

Victor mumbled, silently moping while looking at his shoes. They were covered in wet tears. He couldn’t stand the horror of standing next to her any more. He started walking slowly away from the alley corner. He suddenly felt a strong grip on his arm.

“Do not go,”

Emily exclaimed with a fierce corner to her voice. Her grip got tighter. Victor had lost feel of his left hand now. He looked back to see a mess of stringy brown hair that had fallen past Emily’s skinny shoulders to the top of her plaid skirt. Her large boots clicked as she walked with him. Victor roughly pushed her away.

“Emm, I know you don’t want me to go. I know. But I can’t stay. I’ll lose everything.”

It was a true statement, but Emily didn’t want to believe it was true.

“You’ve always been so stubborn,”

Emily mutters. She then turns and yells, with a newfound anger in her voice,

“You’ve always been so stubborn to notice if we did move into the other’s home, you would be safe, and you would find a paying job, and we could live all happily ever after!”

Emily’s voice cracked at the end of her short speech. Victor’s couldn’t help but crack too.

“I know that Emily, but the time is right for me to go. It wasn’t meant for us to be together. This job I found in Ohio will pay me and my family more than ever. I would decline, but you can never be sure you’ll find another offer as good at this in my lousy state.”

Another true statement from Victor, and Emily knew that Victor’s family had been poor ever since the local bank had burst to flames. They had lived in a cardboard box, and would have moved into Emily’s mansion if it hadn’t been for the job offer in Ohio. Victor knew he would miss his family and the murky streets of New York, but Emily the most. They had been together for a year now, but it was about to end.

“I… I…”

Emily stammered. Victor’s body rose with hope. Maybe she understands now. She was actually considering him leaving. It wasn’t going to hurt anywhere else then her heart. She was fighting an emotional battle in a matter of minutes, wondering about what to do. Finally, she came to a conclusion. Emily suddenly pushed him away, and mumbled,

“Come back and visit, okay? And send-“

“-postcards. I know. I will.”

Victor finished. He winked at Emily, and a last tear fell.

“I’ll miss you too.”
