I'm getting sick of manly too JA. We already all knew about your third leg D:
So true, so true.
I made a typographical error? How unmanly of me. I apologise for the inconvenience.
Does that mean no moniez for the true man here? D:
As Geometric-sama would say, it's "unmanly" to prejudge a method without first knowing it well.
/me snorts
But we would never phrase anything in the dialect Geo has. She is so unmanly.
x_x Poor JA, considered to be unmanly by all of us...
I do know what Im talking about on a site I ran I used forum emebbed news I was on page 4 for the search now Im page 2 now that I use plain old html its SEO for all you idiots out there Search Engine Optimiziation.
...or maybe you added decent content? (this is a total guess, I've never gone to your site)
From the information I have gathered, making a good site will get you more visitors than fuxing with your "SEO" compatibility.
So true! So true!

/me is reminded of the Kyle-trolling of the olden days
A SE doesn't care if you have forum embedded news. In fact, how would a SE know about you using forum embedded news if they can't see your coding? Last time I checked, PHP, Perl, Ruby and Python code cannot be seen because the coding is stripped off the page before reaching the browser or something of the sort. What makes SE's any more different?

I'm using forum embedded news and I appear on Page 1. Let's not forget I also have friendly URLs, and I also am PR 4/10 in Google.

Besides, if that was the case, then I don't see how Smogon didn't have SE. Their past beta site, which was the one before Smogon went down and made him do a re-design, had forum embedded news.

Too late for me, I already am optimized, and I'm getting compensated for it.
Wow. Faltzer, you just actually gained a point of respect from me. ++
I believe he may have confused forum-embedded news with search-engine unfriendly URLs often used by forums, in which case: no, there is a major difference, Mmarzex.
/me still doesn't understand why people are so obsessed with SEO.

Who gives a crap if your site is at the top of Google? You should be aiming to please those you get, and not trying to get random people.
My forum security was compromised. You can all laugh at me for using MyBB now. :]

Greg, I could read it. Perhaps this is because I am more manly than you.

Paul, please do not bypass the censors.

Wow, this topic is back? I thought I killed it. ;~;

BTW, I don't think I'll switch from IPB to myBB, now that I see what happened to MMC. :/

This is why you need to have backups downloaded more often, and probably inspect uploads.

It's mostly .GIF avatars having PHP code, IIRC. I just disable them completely. Animated avatars are bad, imo.

I suppose as long as he has the headers right, a true Manly Man can embed a script in any file, no matter how unmanly.

It's a shame most people don't know how to properly skin their forums... kills any uniqueness...

Faltzer - Well,I figure myBB would after seeing it myself, but it just never crossed my mind. =P
SO yeah, I guess anyone can find anyway to hack into a forum/site was my point. >.<;;

As for skinning. I looked at skinning in phpBB. It was horrible. Although I'm sure one can quickly get the hang of it, it just didn't appeal to me. =P

I did a bit of IPB, but nothing grand.

And then I had the chance to skin vB for a while, which I absolutely loved! :3 And then I was all happy that myBB was very similar. But with the built in CSS editing, it's all easy. Lately, though, I've been venturing more into the template sets. Although I still have a lot of things to learn in that :X

I made a skin for Mork for NN a while back.... I guess he never got around to using it.... =P

The difficulty with SMF is that it is confusing to skin. Its skinning system is rather unmanly. vB has a manly skinning system, but an unmanly price (or manly, depending on how one looks at it).

myBB's had it's fair share of avatar exploits, Saul.
Take out "avatar" and that fits my general opinion of that software...
I liked my fairly unique MMC layout that matched my site ;p

And actually saul's layout is great right now :]
Wasn't a jab at you :P
I'm still formatting my site to bridge with myBB, thanks to BrandMan211 for helping me out with it.
Mmhmm, isn't there a premade bridge? I could've sworn there was one for those few months I used myBB.
I need to know how you can live through ipb faltzer because its the worst forum software in my opinion.
For the most part, I agree with you on that.
Really?

I absolutely love IPB. Hmmm, I also love being the devil's advocate. But in this case I get to love both!!
How can you love something with such an impossible to navigate system?

Maybe it's different for admins, but as a moderator... I despise it. I still don't know how to approve posts. =_=
The way I see is that there is only 2 good forum softwares vBulletin, and Mybb those are the only ones that I will ever use.
Take out that last one and I agree =D

/me might, just *might* try phpBB3 for something though
Then you my friend are very closed minded :] Just a guess, but are you Republican?

*bum bum bum CH!!* (Just imagine a talkshow esque burn sound from the band)
Hehe.
Trust me Im far from republican but I have tried ipb and my experience with it was shall we say horrible I got hacked through it.
You can get hacked through any software, if you're a stupid webmaster.
Faltzer - Well,I figure myBB would after seeing it myself, but it just never crossed my mind. =P

Am I the only one that loved the skinning system in phpBB2? I thought it was extremely easy to use and very customizable.

I hate vB's skinning section... I find it too clumsy to have to try and edit that all in the AdminCP.
The difficulty with SMF is that it is confusing to skin. Its skinning system is rather unmanly. vB has a manly skinning system, but an unmanly price (or manly, depending on how one looks at it).
SMF itself is confusing. >_> Nothing makes sense with that forum.

And the price isn't too bad for the :D of it~ :D~~
