A news article posted recently showing a blue spiral in the sky, the article says two possible things could of caused it, one was a rocket launch from Russia, but the Russians denied it, another was a lazer show somewhere, but being at 8:45am they said it would be unlikely.

What are your thoughts on this?

Looks fake, like some sort of light show aimed at the moon.

What's so amazing about it. .? O.o" It's more than likely just a prank or possibly an accident. I doubt very highly that it's some other-worldly object flying through the sky. If they really were aliens and UFOs, you'd think astronauts would have seen at least a glimpse of them by now. ._. We've been in space since 1969 and have had probes in space way before that.

The whole concept of aliens and UFOs are brought about not by reality but by drug-induced hallucinations and possibly even by self-mutilation in the process. People claim to be abducted by aliens and then 'experts' say that aliens give them drugs to make them forget about it all. XD

Some woman even said they took her fetus out of her. WTF would an alien want with a human fetus? But that's not nearly as far-fetched as another guy who claims to have sex with aliens. =/ I just don't understand what the hell he could be thinking to come up with such a story. =_=" People will say and do just about anything to make someone believe in what they believe.

And how would one go about having sex with an alien anyway? Do we have the same reproductive organs? If that were the case, then why do people insist that aliens come down to Earth to study humans' reproductive systems because they don't have one of their own? O.o It's just way too contradictory. =/

Sorry. I'm in a ranting mood today. XD

Personally, I think it's totally plausible that UFOs and extraterrestrial species could exist. Whether or not they've ever visited our planet, let alone abducted and performed experiments on members of our species, is another matter entirely.

However. I do have to admit that that looks totally fake. As for the experts being baffled, the press probably caught them two seconds after it was reported, when they were still in the "Wait, a light in the sky? Where?" stage.
"You sound nervous...is it the accent? Want to know how I got it? My father was a drinker, and one night he went a little crazier than usual. My mummy got the teapot to defend herself, but he didn't like that...so he poured boiling hot tea all over her! Then he came at me with the teapot, saying...Why so British?!"

Same here. A galaxy is an immense thing, billions of stars both larger and smaller than our sun with their own orbiting objects, our little mudball is just one of trillions. That's just the problem though, the galaxy is huge, and faster-than-light travel is just an idea that may not even be possible. Considering that, if there is a species out there more advanced than us in terms of space travel, they may be forced to use sleeper ships or generational ships that drift for thousands of years between stars.

Whatever this is, it's Unidentified, it's Flying, and it's an Object. What does that make it? A UFO.

However, I believe it was something coming out of orbit. Something like a rocket.

It would literally defy the laws of physics if that caused the spiral.

I don't know what that is? Even if it's a UFO is questionable, it could be in space which in that case it is not *technically* flying. Then if it's from space it could be:

A distant supernova - stars that spin quickly can shoot beams of energy in spiral patterns.
A mass halucination caused by the US seeding the minds of Norwegians. /lol
*pleases UFO enthusiasts* Worm hole?

But what it most likely is, is something we have yet to discover that does not incorporate aliens in any way.

Or does it? OO:

If it was in the air, it must have been flying at some point. If not that, then floating. Sadly for you, that still starts wth F.

And it was too symmetrical to be a supernova.

From what I understand, if it was a supernova, we would have been able to observe it for much longer because of the expanding shell of remains they leave behind. As for spinning rapidly, even pulsars usually just emit jets out of their poles, the spiral in the video is just too perfect. :\

I woke up to this on the news early this morning and it freaked me out but I cant say what I think it is. I dont assume everything is a hoax but I dont assume its all real either. Looks like sonething natural to me.

Also, it looks pretty dark to be 9 am :/

I don't know about you guys talking and describing about how aliens will do to us, when we are what we describe as a hoax. It's very clear, especially of the spotlight. Duh.

We already know(or do you?) that if it were a supernova, it must be very close to us to become visible for a short time(and will exterminate us all). You were refering to a pulsar, a type of neutron star that emits high-intesity spectral beams at the poles, and are spinning rapidly. And the nearest one is too far to be observed with the naked eye.

Well...that's since changed.

Not a hoax. But not a UFO either. The U has since been removed XD

Twelfth launch and seventh failure of Russia's Bulava missile.

Not really what I'd assume a missle would look like but I guess I havent really seen one. Either way its kind of a relief.

Supernovas last from a few milliseconds to a few minutes. Depends on the size of the star.

Also, pulsars do, and sometime supernovas have spiral patterns. Google.

You're wrong. Supernova's spread out light in all directions. But the radiation that is deadly only goes in two, opposite directions. If the concentrated beam of radiation isn't pointing at us, the light could still hit us. Light does nothing to us. There have been multiple supernovas visible to the naked eye in the past. And there are multiple ones being predicted for the future.

Also, all of what I said were just possibilities, I didn't say what it could be was limited to what I said, don't bite my head off. :/

And it was already solved apparently.

t.A.T.u, enough with the Supernova stuff. Seriously. If it was a Supernova, it would have emitted more light than it did. We already know what it is. Supernova often last up to 100 seconds, max. And when they die, they often leave behind remnants such as a black hole or a neutron star.

Apparently the Russians have admitted to launching a failed test-missile from a nuclear submarine at about that time, I guess that kinda solves the mystery. Still, cool light show, and the effect I'd have thought a broken missile would have.

Do people not understand the definition of the world "could"? :/ I didn't say it was indefinetly. I said it COULD be. COULD. COULD. Not is. COULD. I was just coming up with POSSIBILITIES.

Also, the brightness depends on how big the star was. The supernova witnessed by Galileo/Newton or whatever wasn't even as bright as the North Star. They just noticed a new star, noted it, then it disappeared, and they noted that.

Edit: --and those remnants are not able to be seen from Earth. On top of that, it would take a few weeks for astronomers to determine if it was a supernova, then awhile longer to determine if there is anything left. Also, the key would in your sentences are "often." Which implies that they don't always. Our solar systems stemmed from the remnants of a supernova, yet, no black hole or neutron star is here. The only reason we know this is true is because heavy elements that make up our solar systems can only be developed inside of massive star that's death will result in a supernova.

And on top of that, I already said that it was a rocket, not a supernova. Like I said before, I was just giving possibilities. All of which were made before Russia said it was a rocket. :|

I don't think it's an UFO. It's probably some star or something in my opinion. Or maybe people were putting on a show? I don't know, but I'm pretty sure it's not an UFO.

EDIT: Nevermind, like you guys said, it was a rocket. Thanks t.A.T.u. :)
