Ok this is your site and everything, but stupidity just irks me, so much so that I only signed up to this site to point this out:

I had a problem signing up for youtube with their stupid new mobile verification process. So I googled "youtube mobile verification", and found this forum when I found a thread in google titled "Help With Youtube Account Verification (Mobile Phone Needed)" which was posted on here December 2nd. (I cant post a link to it, because thats another stupid rule on this forum, cant post links (even links that lead to other pages on this forum) until you've posted 15 times). I understand you need to keep spam down but inner-website links are good for Search Engine Optimization as well.

I saw the guy asking people for help, then I saw this moderator tell him to ask Google and don't post threads that Google can solve. Are you guys retarded? I wouldn't have found this forum if that guy hadn't posted that thread. You should encourage people to post threads, any kind of threads. It was in the Off Topic section, so its not like it was in the wrong category or anything. More threads = More people like me who find this forum. More people like me who find this forum = More visitors = More money and more members.

Genius.

I have to admit, I agree with your main point there. Although I do believe what the moderator did was wrong, it's hard not to tell someone to Google for an answer because Google is taking over the internet. I find myself doing it all the time somewhere else. It's nice of you to have brought it up because I do see moderators occasionally abusing their authority without self-acknowledgement.

The posting links rule may seem a little ridiculous but it is there for a reason. It's there to stop spambots from linking to other websites and newbies who don't know how to read the rules.

Even though I doubt you plan on returning, I just want to point out the irony of your thread. Although it isn't a printed rule, you posted it in the wrong forum. How nice of you.

...All I can really say is, posting a thread on a forum just to say how "stupid" said forum is, will only get you labeled as a troublemaker at best. Signing up just to slam a forum...well, yeah, not seeing the point to doing so at all.

If you - or anybody else, for that matter - ever want to discuss any of our current rules (without insults, mind you), we have our feedback forum for that very thing.
