mines only running at 0.95 mbps what can i do
If you take all the metal out of your ethernet cord, your connection will be faster because it won't need to go through all that metal. Just make sure you keep the rubber coating, because that keeps your connection warm so it doesn't freeze.

I'm not liable for any damages incurred.

In that case, if you hit your satellite with a hammer repeatedly, the kinetic energy from the impact of the hammer will supercharge the connection.

Again, not liable for damages incurred.

Yes, this works, I have done this multiple times! The new connection is ALWAYS faster! <3

Also not liable for damages incurred.

Good luck throwing a rock into space
It couldn't be done unless the rock was really, REALLY big or it had some sort of protective coating; otherwise it would just burn up at the speeds required to achieve escape velocity. I suppose if we had some sort of rocket propulsion mechanism attached to said rock, and the rock was covered with heat-resistant panels or something, we might be able to propel the rock into space...

On a serious note, the only way to boost the throughput of your wireless connection to your router for free is to make it a wired connection instead, or use it in the same room as the router, so there is less interference. Though neither of those are likely appealing to you, so your options would be to buy a signal booster for your wireless router, or to replace your satellite connection with a wired connection from a DSL or cable provider, which is probably unreasonable for you if you're using satellite internet.

What above poster said about wired connections being better is true, it removes a jump in your connection which will always increase your speed a little. Also, getting a good ISP that offers good service is a plus. Check your local providers and compare them to the likes of AT&T and Verizon, and pick whichever offers better service (never pick Comcast). But for the love of all that is holy, stay away from those providers when it comes to phone service, especially Verizon.

In the UK, at least, you can modify your phone socket to potentially make your internet faster.

I've done it myself, you simply need to pull out the Bell wire in the master socket, this reduces interference as it can act as a receiver.
This wire is no longer needed with modern phones, it was used to make much older phones ring.

This does the same job as BT's new iPlate which they are charging about a fiver for, so you can save yourself a bit of money too.

Here's the tutorial I followed.

Besides the insanity above me, you can also get a better antenna. I've seen these big-ass ones that are so good, they are ridiculous. And that freaking big one I saw today didn't cost more than 30$. Even I have that much to spare! (But I didn't since I screwed up a motherboard a few weeks ago :D)

You mean on the PC end?

It should be noted that if your PC can support PCI wireless adapters, you should use those instead of USB adapters, as there is both a performance boost and a signal reception boost, unless you need the wireless adapter in a certain spot to get any signal (like, say, you're across the house and down a level from the adapter, as my desktop is).

Figured I wouldn't create a new thread, since this is partially relevant.

http://gizmodo.com/5432332/basically-every-isp-is-trying-to-scare-you-into-paying-for-internet-you-dont-need

Surprisingly, Comcast didn't make the list. A pleasant surprise, but it still doesn't increase my respect for them in the slightest.

"3mbps for social networking" made me chuckle. And to think, AT&T is my favorite major ISP (it would be Verizon if their service wasn't tantamount to being in federal take-it-up-the-bum prison). :'(
