Once again I'm at a crossroads. Now I have to choose either my Gyrados or Gastrodon to use on the E4. I have an Ice Beam I wanted use, plus they're both strong. And please say why one is better than the other, okay? Just saying Gyrados doesn't exactly help me. Thanks.

The Gyarados. Do not teach it Ice beam. It will not be beneficial, since it is better to use attack based moves with it. Gyarados has the capability to use dragon dance. If you manage to use dragon dance 3 times, you will be able to beat an entire team of pokemon of a similar level with the Gyarados without counter attack. Also, Gyarados has higher stats and the ability intimidate, which lowers enemy attack, to keep it alive and deadly longer.

An offensive Gyarados' moves should look like Dragon Dance, Water Fall, Ice Fang and Stone edge. Given the nature of this question, I'll assume that you won't have the knowledge to use Gyarados to his full capabilities any ways, but none the less, it will still prove to be a much better pokemon.

Well, Gyarados and Gastrodon are BOTH each strong in their own way. It depends on how you are planning to use them in your team, I would choose Gastrodon as it is a Water and ground type which is super effective against Flint and Bertha, and not to mention it will probably help trying to take out those annoying but dangerous pokemon that Cynthia as got like Garchomp.
Gyarados is great too but as it is a Water and flying type it has it advantadges as well as it's disavangtages, It's ice beam will help if you decide Gyarados is the one for you, it will indeed help with Aaron and with Cynthia's Roserade although if you already have a strong fire type in your team I suggest it would be sort of a back-up resort.
It could help like Gastrodon with Bertha and Flint.
But overall I would suggest using Gastrodon. But hey it's your choice and your game so choose a pokemon which, in your opinion helps you get through the game.

Sorry for spelling ;)

I've never used Gastrodon, so I would say Gyrados.

It will likely remain here in the case that someone else somehow manages to find the same dilemma, unless of course someone thinks this thread is not constructive, whereas there was a problem that would warrant locking or deletion pre-emptive to the existence of useful response followed by embarrassed deletion anyway.

If anybody has the same problem, they can use the Quick Questions thread. It's what it's there for. Please use it if you have any further questions; the main body of the forum is used for discussion and not question answering.
