Charizard's flamethrower keeps killing me. He is at lvl 40.

Any ideas? Which pokemons or moves are good at beating charizard?

Ergh...get a fast Aerodactyl with Rock Slide. Damage X STAB(1.5) X a 4x weakness to rock that Charizard has=Congrats. You win. Have a nice day.

If you're where I think you are in the game, fly to Fuschia (sp?) City. Go south to the water and then go east until you hit an island. Go into the island and catch a Pysduck (Golduck) or Seel (Dewgong). Raise them up a couple levels so they have a couple water and ice moves.
Another good Pokemon to use would be Lapras. I used a level 38 Lapras and destroyed Charizard.

Sorry. I am a newbie, casual player. I am in Silph Co. where you have to use to teleport blocks and card key to get around. My strongest one is Venusaur at lvl 37 and a bunch of others in lvl 20's.

The flamethrower is a "strike first" and it is kicking my ***. :)

Go level up somewhere. Since this is in-game, all you need is a level advantage and you pretty much win. And don't complain about not wanting to train...that's the freaking purpose of the entire game...

That or go catch a water type or trade something over from a friend's.

Thanks for the suggestions. Are there any held items, or specific TM or HM that are good against charizard?

anything with rock slide (move tutor in rock tunnel) and good speed at around lvl 35-40 should destroy charizard, it did for me (sandlash, rock slide, lvl 38)
though no one seems to notice that charizard is both fire and flying as well, so ice beam would do normal damage
