Hi! I was playing Pokemon Platinum and got a Ditto and Munchlax, both Japanese. I wanted to breed these two, so I put them both in the Day Care Center asap. I left them in there for four days...I checked each day and nothing had happened. I talked to the guy outside and he said they prefer to play with other pokemon than each other. I just want to know if there is any specifications to breeding foreign pokemon or pokemon you didn't catch. Also, I know breeding a Japanese pokemon along with an American one increases the chance of a shiny egg, but will breeding two Japanese pokemon in an American game raise this chance any higher? Thank you in advance for all the help!!!

P.S. I'm not sure if this is in the right place, or if there is a duplicate of this, so please lock/move this if neccesary.

Well, first off, munchlax, being a baby pokemon, doesn't breed. You would need a ditto and a snorlax to get one, and the snorlax needs to be holding one type of incense. And second, I don't know about two japanese pokemon breeding would increase the chances of getting a shiny further.

If you're referring to the Masuda Method, breeding two Pokemon of the same nationality will only have a regular chance of breeding a shiny. If you have two foreign pokemon, then the chance is increased. It doesn't matter what version the game is. It also doesn't necessarily have to be a Japanese Pokemon. It could be a French and German Pokemon together in a Spanish game, and shiny breeding will be increased.

Also, to breed a Munchlax, you have to breed a compatible Pokemon with a Snorlax holding a Full Incense. The Snorlax has to be female if the other Pokemon is not a ditto.

Consider what the other posters have said in order to solve your problem. Breed Snorlax (holding Full Incense to produce Munchlax offspring) as a Munchlax cannot be a parent. In addition, parents must be international or of different origin (Japanese+English, Japanese+German, etc) in order to activate Masuda's method, where a shiny personality id has a higher chance of being calculated (or something like that, haha).

Also, a egg is made after some 500 steps or so, not after some days.

In the future, please use the Quick Question and Answer Thread for all simple questions. Thanks. :)
