Hey, well I have a Game Boy Advance SP, and I played Emerald and its awesome! Now for my birthday, in 19 March, I will turn 15 and I wanted to get a DS(mainly for Pokemon) I wanted to know how improved Pokemon got and I still don't know the differences between Diamond,Pearl and Platinum, so please tell me that lol and people are saying that a Nintendo DS 2 is coming out soon, is that true? Because I may get a Nintendo DS now.

How old are you, and which version do you have?
What's the difference between Diamond,Pearl and Platinum?
And will the upcoming pokemon games be good? Are they worth buying?
And do alot of people play Online(WIFI) Because I need competition.
Thats all :P

Get a DSLite, seeing as that way you can still play Emerald, and then transfer pokes to pal park

Platinum is the "sequel" to Diamond and Pearl, like Emerald is to Ruby and Sapphire, so overall the better one (it has a Battle Frontier,wi-fi and gym improvements, etc.)

Also, HeartGold/SoulSilver are gonna be brilliant.

DS 2 hasn't even been confirmed, so ignore them.

I'm 15, personally.

Tons of people do wi-fi (visit my trade thread in the wi-fi centre and i'll give you a couple of rare pokemon for free).Trading AND battling.

Oh cool, well I don't have the DS yet, I will hopefully get it the 19th, so Ima bump this thread back up when I get it, I sure will check that thread out, and thanks alot :) and what do you mean by brilliant? Will it be wayyy better then Platinum? Then I may just get the Soul Silver or Heart Gold instead, and do many people go online(wifi)?

Pokémon is far better on the NDS Lite
Diamond / Pearl / Platinum all have better graphics than previous console versions .
The Wi-Fi features are also good fun as stated above :)

They're brilliant because, well.....

http://www.serebii.net/heartgoldsoulsilver/

Look at the tabs all down the side. It's gonna be epic.

But i suggest, if possible, get Platinum too....as it's brilliant.Best plotline yet, really.New pokemon are brilliant (for once, all the starters have brilliant abilities.particularly Piplup)

I agree, get platinum if you want to. But i didn't like P/D/Pt and most of the community didn't either (Don't start flaming me! I know some people love it!)

Wait for HG/SS they are going to be most epicness. Is it worth paying £20 - £30 for a game when a better one is comming out in around 2 weeks?

I recommend getting HG/SS as well as Platinum as they have good storylines and a lot of gameplay to do. If you love emerald then Platinum is the game for you. I'm 23 and still playing happily with a DS cause its so much fun(but then I refuse to grow up XD)

No not that I know of. Though if you have just the DS and someone within a certain distance has a DS and no games are being played you can do Pictochat which lets you type and draw and chat like that but thats not a pokemon feature

Diamond and Pearl were released in April of 2007. They had new Pokemon, a new region, a new hero, story, etc. Platinum is pretty much the same except released in 2009, slightly different graphics, mostly different trees. The hero has a new outfit, and it has extras compared to Diamond and Pearl. Wi Fi lets you go online and battle or trade with other people through the internet. It has a voice chat but people don't usually do that because the quality isn't that great. There is also a building called the GTS, where you can put Pokemon up for others. For example, you could put up a Mew, and ask for a Celebi. If someone wants to do that trade, you will trade the next time you go on the GTS.

Heartgold and Soulsilver are remakes of the games Pokemon Gold and Silver that were released about 10 years ago. They have similar features to Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, like Wi Fi, a touch screen, 3-D graphics, etc. In my opinion you should get Platinum and HG, or SS. Your choice, but HG/SS is going to be released on the 14th of March, which is 5 days before your birthday. And do what the others said, and get a DS Lite, so you can still play emerald on it, and transfer Pokemon from Emerald to D/P/PT when you beat them.

If you're certain you're getting a DS for your birthday, get a DSi XL. :P

DSi is crap for playing Pokemon games as it has no GBA slot meaning Pal Park is out of the question. Its better to get the DS or DSLite as it allows use of GBA games.

Actually forgot about the use of GBA with the earlier version of the DS, mainly because I don't have any GBA games.

Like is it always the same people? Or like other people with other sets of pokemon plays, because I want to keep myself busy by playing against them and the DSI seems like a good deal IMO, because I like browsing the internet and the DSi lets you do that. So I may get that.

You should have no trouble finding anyone online to play, now that new games are coming out. And especially since people from all over the world play Pokemon. And what I do is I use a DSi to play the game, and the original DS to trade or use PalPark.

I don't think this belongs in Pokemon D/P/Pt. I think this belongs in Pokemon General, or technology. I'll ask Zet about this...

Okay, forget it~

Even though you can browse the internet with the DSi. It's still really really slow, and it's not really worth it. I mean stuff on the DSi is fun for a little bit, but it's not really that great after a while. Just get a DS lite, because if you get a DSi, then you won't be able to transfer your Pokemon from emerald over, which means you will have to start fresh again.
