I sent a email to NoA about the removal of the slot machines even though the anti-gambling laws aren't in America. Here is the response I got.

I wonder if that was their way of making it seem that they didn't know the answer. Though if I do get another email, I will post it here for the answer to be seen.

In the end, does it really matter? The games are already out....

Well, I was mainly just curious. I, though, like the Voltorb Flip game.

Well, if I do get another one. I assume that it will say, "To keep parents happy, because they won't like their kids gambling."

Yeah that's pretty stupid... I say we all email them about it. Not that it'll do anything, but if we really get their attention, it might bring it back in a future game.

They had a few lawsuits where kids blamed Pokemon for their gambling addiction. That's why.

Here in Europe I believe it's because having slot machines goes against anti-gambling legislation is several countries.

To be honest I think they are taking it too seriously. I rarely play the Game Corner and even if I do I hardly ever enjoy it.

That is a possibility. Who knows? Nintendo might actually listen to us for once.
Eh, IMO it's unlikely a patch will come out. How many Nintendo games have had patches released? And how many of those Pokemon games by Game Freak? That, and 'demand' for the slots would not be enough of a reason to put it back in in this case (I'll say why below).

Ah, but consider why they (in this case I'm talking Nintendo/Game Freak) did this and removed the slots. (And notice that also it was done everywhere, including Korea!). First off, Europe had it because of the laws there. Keeping them in would sadly be breaking those laws, and could land them in hot water. That doesn't mean it's a-ok - the laws as many view it are silly and too harsh, but unfortunately that's how it is, so unless they want to run the risk of lawsuits or penalties or the such (and these games are checked before they are released), they had to do something different. Platinum had them just censor it out and give you coins at random from examining the machines making you kind of a scab, but in HGSS they went as far as to make a new games to bypass it.

As for everywhere not called Europe? Well, reports are suddenly game rating places have gone quite hard on games with gambling in it (and that includes the 'slots' in Pokemon). It's why Platinum in Australia had a higher rating for instance, only this time around reportedly if they kept the slots in (even in America), the game rating would have hit 13+ quite easily. Which is silly, but is what would have happened. Note that all of the versions are the same in this regard and may have been a blessing in disguise in terms of release dates, for Europe/Australia could have had a later release date if the game versions were not the same.

Doing that would have hurt sales, so they did the best thing from the $$$ side of things - remove the slots, and put something else in. Which is why 'fan demand' and e-mails would not making them just put it back in like that, for those issues still remain. =/

I doubt they would have known the answer actually. The people you e-mailed are not part of the development team or so forth and just run the website and pass stuff on - so they wouldn't be privy to such information. And I wouldn't be too hopeful about getting an answer really, and if so I foresee it as being along the lines of 'we can't/don't want to (because of this that and this/'business reasons', sorry, end of'.

Anyways, the 'slots removed from everywhere outside Japan' thread already exists for discussing this and I see no point for a thread about a generic e-mail response basically saying 'we don't know why because we're not the right people'. So going to close - if you wish to continue talking about this, go there when the thread is actually opened again - if a thread gets closed, then you shouldn't make another thread about a similar topic as discussion on that isn't allowed temporarily for a reason. =/
