My earliest memory of my father was probably when I was about two years old. The night's rain had ended hours before, and the sun was sprinkling down on the drying green grass. The people in the village were just starting to wake and begin their daily activities. The husbands had just started to prepare for the morning hunt, and the wives would take care of the children and the house. Teenagers would be fetching water, and other needed supplies for the day. It was still quiet due to the toddlers sleeping. Quiet toddlers were always rare in the Village.
I remember he held me and told me about the world. He told me about the Village, and the forbidden areas in the village. He then picked me up, and held me in his lap. He pointed to the Lake of Azperdah, and pointed to a stray flower that must have fallen. He picked it up, and put it in my curly, brown hair. It was a white Rose.
In the Village, a white Rose was extremely rare. The women with a Rose in her hair are considered lucky, and will have a blessed life. The more common color, Black, was a sign of terrible news. My father never believed in this superstitious behavior, but he put the Rose in my hair anyway. We both sighed, as we watched the sun fully rise. The village folks were now creating a loud noise, busy with morning tasks. Instead of doing the normal every day morning thing, I just sat with my father for awhile, savoring the moment while it lasted.
My father always seemed to make people laugh. He is every one's role model, everyone girl's dream man. He is nice and funny. He is strong and tough. Most importantly, he is loyal. My mother was crazy about him. Soul Mates is what the village said of them. Whenever spotted in public, they'd be arm in arm. She couldn't keep her eyes off him, nor could he keep his eyes off her. They'd surely be together forever. Who knew people could be so wrong about someone?
The next day I was awoken by mother teasing with my hair, with a single tear rolling down her rosy cheek. She told me that my father left, and that he would come back soon, she'd promised that he would be back any day. Now I'm 15 years old and mother still believes he will come back. The entire village knows he is gone for good, though she tells me he will come back.
Every night mother waits by the door to see her beloved husband walk through. You’d think that she would give up waiting for something that was so long ago, but she wholeheartedly believes that he will be back.
He never does.

Please tell me if you like the Prologue so far. I know it's not perfect and I'm not the best writer in the world. Thank you ;]

Hmm... I wonder what happened to the dad? I want to read more. This is interesting and suspenseful. I also love the roses part with superstition.
Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person's ultimate good as far as it can be obtained.

☼You make me smile like the sun, fall outta bed
Sing like a bird, Dizzy in my head
Spin like a record, Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like fool, Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, Buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile☼

Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become.
