Ok, this is a poem I made for my Language Arts class about the Vietnam War.

The poem takes the perspective of a Vietnamese villager whose village is attacked by Americans. This isn't meant to offend Americans at all, it's just taking somebody else's perspective. Enjoy. :)

Flames

They come with their inferno of flames
The dragons rush back and forth
In the azure heavens above
Incinerating all below
With their flaming breath
Roaring into the night’s sky
Its talons of flame harvesting the figures below

The demons of land
Come with icy metal machines
Charge
Screaming in unknown tongues
Their liquid metal sprays at us,
Depleting us
Faces filled with nothing but hatred
Nothing but hatred
But what did we do?

We escape
With frozen expressions
Into the shelter of trees
Surrounding us
Into the rivers of ash
And blood
Escaping from the reality of what this is

What happened to it all
The peaceful world that was us
Vanished into smoke
And flames

The first stanza talks of the American plane, with their napalm and machine guns. The second stanza talks of the Ameican soldiers on land. And the other two are the villagers' reactions.

Please leave positive comments and maybe a little constructive criticism, but no bad comments please. I'm only 13, so it's not that good but, whatever.
