I mean come on sometimes I don't want to battle Like what if my pokemon is poisoned and dying? I can't battle I have to get to the pokemon Center asap. And if your team consists of all Caterpie just send em all out at once I can take them. Stop wasting my time and let me just go to the pokemon center.

Haha. I think it would take out all of the fun though if you could run from a trainer battle. I always carry status healers and potions with me; spending money on helpful items to use is part of the fun. It's almost like responsibility in a game :P

One thing you have to realise, is that in HG and SS, as well as the originals, you can defeat EVERY trainer in both regions, but forget about one trainer just outside your home town, then decide to catch some weak pokemon for whatever reason, then you battle the guy and you're like 'Dude, I have like, a lvl 80 lugia in my party.' And then they're like 'DURR I WILL BEAT YOU WITH MY RATATA AND CATERPIE!'.

coz it would make the trainer feel denied and will go and kill himself. though after u beat him with a level 80 lugia he/she will still kill himself so hmmmm....
XD
nah i reckon it would just ruin the game. its better than other rpgs where its almost impossible to run from battle so im not complaining. i mean, if ur always prepared then its fine.

That happened to me! I was looking for Raikou outside of Violet City, and this bug catcher that I chose to skip in the past, asked me to battle him. He really wasted my time -- at least Raikou was still there!

Anyway, I think you can't run from a trainer battle because it would make it too easy to just run from gym leaders and whatnot. I do wish you could run, though... Sometimes, it's just too grueling to wait it out.

If Run were to work in a Trainer battle, then it would be replaced by a Give Up command like in linked battles. but really, running from a Trainer battle, next time buy supplies.

A lot of trainers you have to beat in order to advance in the game.
Think about all the little kids who don't like to sit there and battle and only want to beat the gym leaders who are trying to defeat, say, Erica, with a lv. 10 Squirtle because they skipped everything else instead of fighting trainers in order to advance.
Makes perfect sense to me.

Better yet, why can't you just attack the trainer?

Porygon-Z used Hyper Beam!

Youngster Joey, along with all of his possessions, were reduced to smoldering ashes. No cash for you.

Porygon-Z gained 10 XP!

What? It's a good enough trade-off.

Okay, maybe that was a bad example, but how about against a Rocket Grunt?

You chose to play the game, therefore you play by the games rules.
Pokemon states that all Trainers that are issued a challenge by other trainers must accept it and battle until someone wins.

Seriously. It's been this way for over 12 years. It's not going to change anytime soon.

An old saying applies here: "Beggars can't be choosers."
I'd find Pokemon really dull if I could run from Trainer battles.

Having said that. If you really want to run from Trainer Battles...
Get your hands on an Action Replay GBA/DS and Google for the code that allows you to run from Trainer Battles. And use it. =3

Because it'd be against Pokemon League rules. Certain restrictions like this I like to believe fall under League rules. When you take on the League Challenge, you accept it's rules, which include no declining battles, attacking trainers, catching other Pokemon, ect. or you'll be disqualified. That's my theory anyway.

Well, I think I have a couple of examples WHY you can't run.

1. In Japanese culture (Correct me if I'm wrong) it's considered more then just disrespect to one when you flee from a challenge but also a direct disgrace to one's Heritage.

2. Because if there was a flee/give up/run option, if you were say training a Pokemon that evolved from friendship status (Against correct me if I'm wrong) that loses friendship 'points', you could simply flee combat, heal, come back. Or about to lose the battle entirely you can just run instead of take it as a learning experience.

3. Because he may like Mudkips.

I personally do the same and keep my Medical supplies stocked, however if I find that for some reason I lose a battle -- I take it as a learning experience; Be better and much more well prepared.

That Really Annoys Me Too
I agree. Typing Like This Is Pretty Annoying As Well. :/

We really need a forfeit option. It could replace "run" in trainer battles. I wouldn't mind being sent back to the PC and paying money, but I just don't want to sit through a battle watching the weak Pokemon I'm training get annihilated.
