So i recently got Bioshock (retail, installed from disc) but whenever I play the sound is all messed up, like listening through a fan (I've heard this referred as snap, crackle, pop too). I've looked around for a solution and haven't found one. Any help to fix this is appreciated. Running on windows 7 in Vista compatibility. Thanks!

Did you just try running it for Windows 7? 'Cause, as far as I'm aware, you would just need a DirectX 10 compatible sound card and video card, and DirectX 11 (included with Windows 7) isn't a rewrite of DirectX when compared to DX10 (though DX10 was a rewrite when compared to DX9). You should also try updating your audio drivers.

And I don't know exactly how to do that? How is that done?
Just turn off the Vista compatibility mode. I'm not sure how to do that yet because I am just now installing my first game on my new Windows 7 machine, so I'll get back to you on that.
