After a ton of grinding (luckily without deaths up to now, even though there were some close situations), I finally got my Shuckle and Weepinbell up to level 70. Rest of my team (old team+Snorlax) is around level 57-60, so don't expect me to be able to challenge Red today, I don't feel like doing any more grinding now. At least my movesets (except Snorlax's) are already finished, so I am not going to have to worry about them anymore.

@ Urwaldbewohner: Congratz!

Major Update:

I added some rules for myself:
-No healing items. Ever!
-No repels
-5 poké balls per city

Beat Rival Lennon. Then in Ilex Forest I caught a Kakuna and named it Minc, then Togepi (Philip) hatched!
Headbutted a tree on Route 34, Weedle fell out, so I left it alone... Decided to not take on Whitney yet.

Rousseau evolved fighting the trainers on Route 35, I went to the bugcatching contest and decided not
to catch the wild Paras (regrets). After the contest I beat the trainers and Arc evolved into Skiploom!

Went back to Goldenrod with a sleep powder/paralyze tactic for Miltank but Rousseau just annihilated her!!
First pokemon I encountered on Route 36 was Yanma!! Named him Napoleon. I hate it that they're so
useless in this gen... It can still replace Minc though. Caught a Ledyba on Route 37, named him Ceasar.

Went to Burnt Tower, almost got Charleroi killed by his Croconaw. I encountered a Rattata (too bad).
Heatbutted another tree on Route 42, hoping for heracross or something, but a Spearow fell out (left it alone).

Still scared of Morty, so I continued onto Route 38, where I encountered Meowth, which I killed.
On Route 39 I encountered a Raticate, which i already have (Rousseau). Arc evolved into Jumpluff!

Got a Good Rod in Olivine, and used it in the local pond, reeled in a Magikarp... didn't want it.
Route 40 was better luck (Good Rod). Reeled in a Corsola and took about 15 minutes to catch (recoverpowerrrs).
Named it Churchill! I then stored Togepi Philip and withdrew Churchill. Trained him to level 24, he then completely
pwnd Morty's Gengar and final Haunter.

I love Churchill!!!!

Poke balls: 7

Current party:
Churchill (Corsola lvl. 24)
Arc (Jumpluff lvl. 27)
Charleroi (Quilava lvl. 26)
Assisi (Zubar lvl. 10)
Napoleon (Yanma lvl. 13)
Rousseau (Raticate lvl. 24)

Finally got finished with grinding.
Time for Red.
Spoiler:

Obviously, the first match-up was Thimbelunk against Pikachu, what resulted in an OHKO. Charm did nothing for Pikachu.

Next, Red decided to send out Venusaur, so I decided to switch to Aruchisuri.

While I switched, Venusaur charged a Solarbeam, which did almost nothing. Wing Attack 2HKOd.

Espeon time. I switched to Snorlax (I kinda forgot its nickname), and took quite a lot from Psychic. The next turn, Espeon set up Reflect, while...

... I had some luck.

For some reason, I decide to use Rollout at this point, but...

... that didn't quite work. RIP, replacement thing that I never really liked.

I decide to go to Thimbelunk (I probably should have sent out Shuckly instead though), and again make a wrong decision: Instead of just using Earthquake, I try Dynamicpunch which required 3 tries and made Thimbelunk lose some HP it wouldn't have needed to lose. I got a crit here, but I think that didn't matter considering Snorlax's pathetic physical defense (that I had experienced with my own one).

this 2 VS 5 situation seems to be a pretty good matchup, and I even have the type advantage here...

... or not. I hate Blizzard, when I use it it never hits...
Well, you sucked anyways, Weepinbell, Iskirra was a way better Poison type than you.

So, since that failed, I decide to try it with Aruchisuri's Giga Drain, and it seemed to work quite well until...

... this happened. Insert swearing here, because contrary to Snorlax and Weepinbell, I really liked Aruchisuri.

Luckily Red didn't use any Full Restores, so after one Psychic, the thing was finally dead.
Rest of the battle didn't provide any more challenge, obviously.

^These Sentrets don't seem to like me...

So, I guess, I am the champion now, but...

there are still all the dead ones. Don't forget them. Don't let their glory be overshadowed by that of the ones that actually survived.
(and no, I am not excluding Sandshlash from my favorites list with this picture, I just find it so hard to draw...) If I would have done this properly, I would probably have included it somewhere. And Pidgeot too, since it also did some great work and got me out of that Ecruteak crisis.

I am very tempted to do another Nuzlocke run (the Pearl one doesn't count here since it's on another sytem), so let's see what I'm going to do.

Ah, sad tidings I bring =(

-Grinded my Pokemon several levels
-Got team mostly to level 33, save for Orum
-Mustered up my courage and went to battle Chuck
-Good news is (thanks to Fethrblaka) no fatalities
-Went on happily to Mahogany Town
-Head to the Lake of Rage, ready to capture that shiny Gyarados
-Battled it...and it killed Orum! =(
-Tried to capture it, but failed. The stupid Gyarados then killed itself from confusion -_-; Now I'm forever Gyarados-less I do believe (because I don't think I feel like training more Magikarp XD)
-Headed back to Mahogany with a heavy heart and deposited poor Orum
-Moved to the base thingie, and headed down thar with Lance
-Nearly lost Brisingr to the dang exploding Geodude, but he made it and I healed him up
-The same thing happened with Garjzla, but he fainted -_-; (And it was right after I'd gotten him groomed, too!) Alas, my hopes for an Espeon have crumbled
-On that happy note, I pressed on and battled more people
-Soon I defeated them all, save for that darned Electrode that exploded and killed Adurna T.T
-Went back out of the base and stowed away my dead Pokemon, sort of freaking out because I only have two on my team
-Went into the gym, Fethrblaka evolved! =D
-Beat Pryce easily, thanks partially to Fly and to Brisingr =3
-Went to the Ice Cave and saw a Swinub! Fainted it with Tackle -_-;
-Went back to the route, taught Kodthr Surf and then went on the water
-Didn't see any fish, but saw a Weepinbell! Captured and named it Laufsblad
-Thinks my team is screwed XD

Team:

Typhlosion (Brisingr)
Level: 38
Moves:
-Quick Attack
-Cut
-Smokescreen
-Flame Wheel

Pidgeot (Fethrblaka)
Level: 37

Boxed:
Bjart (Togepi)
Blaka (Hoothoot)

Laufsblad (Weepinbell)

KIA:

I messed up..

-In Union cave stupid Geodudes use selfdestruct.. R.I.P Arc..R.I.P Rousseau
-Ruins of Alph caught Natu (Marx) This was hopeful after losing two
of my best teammembers.
- Marx Evolves into Xatu
- Cherrygrove didn't catch Magikarp
- Route 41 didn't catch Tentacruel
- Withdrew Ceasar, Ceasar survives Horsea's Dragonbreath with 1 hp; Marx dies...
- Only two good teammembers left..
- Decided I need a new pokemon...
- Cianwood caught Magikarp (schumacher)
- Schumacher evolved into Gyarados

Whole team gets destroyed by first fighting-gym trainers...

So nope... that didn't work out, mainly because i was impatient and irresponsible.

I feel sad I let my team down

Ok, I'm incredibly bored at this very moment and I don't feel like playing on the DS, and I also don't feel like continuing my Scramble right now because it's being tedious.
So: It's about time to Nuzlocke something, and I'm going with...
Pokemon Brown. A hack of Red that I played a bit some months ago, but don't remember too much of, because I only played it once.
I will do this as a screenshot run. Let's see how this is going to turn out.
Spoiler:

Spoiler:
Starting…

So a Gastly ist the version mascot?

Settings.

Professor Pryce? Interesting.
He sure likes to talk, by the way.

No comment about this.
Some talking later…

It’s still there.

Looking a bit around in my starting town, and what do I see? A gym. Cut is needed to enter it though.
After heading south, I finally met Professor Pryce again, or Tim how his real name is.

Well, I guess it’s about time I get one.

And there is my rival, I didn’t even get the chance to name him…

Hell Yes.

First thing I could think off.

Obviously, this is going to be Charmander.

Yep.

And the inevitable happens: The first rival fight with level 5 Pokemon. One of the hardest battles in the game. Sawr was doing well and had still a nice chunk of HP left, but...

OH COME ON, THIS CAN’T BE TRUE.

I’ll be startin’ over, Sawr II is going to avenge Sawr’s death and then lead a (hopefully) awesome team to glory.

By the way, I hate tinypic now for having to type 2 stupid words for each picture I want to upload... I'lll have to find something different.

Spoiler:

Same stuff again, except that this time...

I won. I needed the Potion, but it was worth it.
Now I just have to get Pokeballs somewhere...

Found the market in the same town, but first, I apparently have to play delivery boy once again.

Now, I guess he is going to talk a lot and then give me a Pokedex...
..and he did. Mura also showed up, but luckily left me alone this time.

10 Pokeballs rule still exists.

...And the first area to catch Pokemon I find is not a Route, it's a Cave. So, guess who is going to be my first Pokemon...

Exactly.

Because Sharifa the Crobat is being so awesome on Pearl.

Grindan Time. Can never be wrong when playing a hack.
There are also Digletts and Geodudes in this cave by the way...

...and Vulpix. I decided to not playing risky and run.

Also, there's Slowpoke. Let's pray it doesn't know Confusion.

...Why was I expecting this? Actually, Confusion seems to be the only thing it knows. Not good.

So many Pokemon in just one cave... And I get Zubat, of course. Well, better than Vulpix or Slowpoke who would have killed Saur II...

Enough Grinding for now, I guess. Sawr II already learned Vine Whip at level 10 by the way.

So far, I have caught Pokemon in:
  • Gravel Town (Sawr II)
  • Merson Cave (Sharifa II)
Didn't get anything in Seashore City (where the starting house is) or the route in between (where Cut is required to meet any Pokemon).

Next: Exploring Merson Cave and getting to the town behind it.

Update:
Spoiler:

First trainer: A younster with a Rattata. Looking familiar?
Also, I probably grinded a bit too much. Ah, well...
Next trainer:

I hate you, game.

After having only one way for all the time up to now, I suddenly have 3. In the south there is nothing, on the plateau in the north is an item, the stairs leads to a trap - A Hiker with, among other things, a Spearow. Arceus, I hate these things now.

So, after the Spearow finally was down, I found myself in a somewhat critical situation (Sharifa II was down to 0 PP)... But, it did not use Quick Attack and I managed to win. Somehow.
Later...

For Growl.

So, I finally got out of this cave, just too...

run into a trainer with a Spearow. Oh great. It took me all the 2 Potions I had with me to beat this thing.

At least, while running back to where I could heal, SawrII evolved.
Later, in the first patch of grass after the cave...

Hell Yes.
Or not.
>DrillPeck! is poisoned
>I used all my Potions on that Spearow
>No Antidotes
Crap.
So...:

I really hate myself for this stupidity, right at the beginning of the next City, Dodou dies...
Note to myself (and everyone else): don't catch Pokemon using Poison. It's not going to end well.
RIP, DrillPeck!, Lv.5-5.
But, the challenge goes on, so, I firsz explore the town I'm in.

Got a Bike Voucher here, even without hearing the word "Rapidash" just once

This gym looks watery to me. The name makes me think of a Gyarados being the leader's strongest Pokemon. Not good, it might know Dragon Rage or something.

And there's a part of grass in this town, in which...

...I find a Hitmonchan,

A LEVEL 20 HITMONCHAN (the highest wild thing I met up to now was a level 6 Pidgey) Sawr II seemed to lose the battle, so I decided to switch and...

...the damn thing just killed Sharifa II. And, what makes the thing worse, Sawr is not going to be able to take just one more hit from that thing.
So, in despair, I throw a Pokeball, and...

...surprisingly, it worked. So, the challenge is saved for now, but still, I hate the thing for killing Sharifa II, so...

Team at this point:

Hmm, I think Sawr II could need some grinding, just in case...

Much better.
Time to take on Karpman, the leader. As expected, he uses Water Pokemon. In particular, that means:

Horsea and Vaporeon. The Vaporeon was, despite the level disadvantage, quite tough. Luckily, only defense-wise.

And, Karpman (by the way, there was not a single Magikarp in his gym) doesn't only look like Brock, he also gives out his TM. Which I am probably never going to use.
Next route, north of Merson City:

I really seem to be cursed when it comes to Doduos...
...or stupid, since I should have used Vine Whip instead of Tackle.
Somewhere, I also found another cave where I'm going to need Strength to progress. I don't know the cave's name yet, but...

...at least I got a Psyduck there. Took me 8 or so Pokeballs because I didn't dare to touch it with any attacking move. Accidentally didn't nickname Psyduck.
So, after seeing it only has Scratch, I decided to use the Water Gun TM I found somewhere in the first cave, just to see that...

...TM12 isn't Water Gun in this game.
Octazooka causes Poison by the way, so I'll have to be careful and not use it against Pokemon I want to catch.
Some minor Psyduck grinding later, it was time to progress. Just a bit north of the cave entrance, I found this house:

Basically it's like Celadon mansion. The Pokemon in the table is, if I remember correctly, Porygon. I didn't take it because I already met the Doduo I killed on that route.

Also, we have an underground path somewhere here that takes us to a rather watery area. What exactly will await us here? We will see. But later.

Current Team:

The good...

...the bad...

...and the useless. At least up to now due to lack of moves.

Oh, before I forget it: Here's the map:

Seriously, I have no idea where the hell I am now. The tunnel was going to the west, so I might be somewhere north of Seashore.

I am so working this challenge on Crystal version. I'll be kind of copying the steps that mondays suck did =D
You better don't follow my strategy exactly. I was playing sloppy, had tons of grinding deaths, got wiped in Ecruteak... I didn't have a working team before Blackthorn....

As for my current Brown run, things are going pretty well at this moment. In particular, that means:
Spoiler:

After following the fishing route for a while, you arrive in a grassy area again, where this house is standing. Here, you can trade an Abra for a Magmar. Looks like a worthwhile trade in a normal game, especially since Abra is common near Merson City.

Also, there's a map on the wall, where we can see that I was right:
We are currently located north of Seashore City, near Hayward City.

After leaving the house, I found a Caterpie in the grass. I caught it by Leech Seeding it and then spamming Agility until its health was down enough for a Pokeball, and then, accidentally didn't nickname it. I really have to find the nickname rater now...

Soon after, we arrive at Hayward City. In this gate house, the aide will give you a Super Rod by the time you catch 70 Pokemon. Since this is a Nuzlucke Run, this is never going to happen for me.

After healing, I started to Explore Hayward. Here, we have a lab where you can trade a Clefairy for a Lapras and revive fossils. But, if you don't have any, the researcher will tell you to "get out".

What else can we find in Hayward City? Something that you can't enter until you beat the Rijon (the name of this region) league, a department store (I'll see what you can do inside it later on) and... the next rival battle. I should have seen it coming, but I didn't, so I was unprepared.

I didn't make a screenshot of his first Pokemon, but I can remember that it was a Koffing. It poisoned and weakened Psyduck, and I had to switch to Sawr II to finish it off, or else Psyduck wouldn't have had enough remaining HP to get back to the Pokemon center.

Next Pokemon: A Dodou. Great, my entire team is Flying-weak. Hitmonchan almost died here, so by risking its life for the life of the others it at least removed a part of the guilt for killing Sharifa.

Next Pokemon is Cubone. Sawr II made short work of it.

And, the last Pokemon is, luckily, Charmander. If it would have been Charmeleon, I would have been screwed, my team was too weakened at that point to deal with something evolved.

After a very narrow battle in which both of Sawr's Razor Leaves critted (only 1 crit was needed), Charmander died without doing any greater harm than putting Sawr II at low HP.

Next: Finishing the exploration of Hayward (hopefully without any further surprises), grinding Caterpie. And maybe Psyduck too. Story progress will have to wait some more.

Damn, I had already partially written my next update, then pressed f5 for some reason, and now I have to write it all again. Great.
Spoiler:

So, here we got a map, which is going to be useful since I'm not always going to find on on a wall, and behind the house, we found...

...the same rocket you find in Cerulean. As you can probably imagine, that Drowzee caused me some major problems.

At least Hitmonchan died a hero's death because it had saved Sawr II's live twice by then, which outweighs Sharifa II's death.

So, I got the Dig TM, but lost Hitmonchan. Not good.

Department store time. Here, we bought 10 Pokeballs and a Beer. We are going to need it later. Also we got free stuff, the Counter TM. There are also a girl who wants orbs and a ton of TMs to buy (this includes the elemental beams), but I don't have any orbs and I'm short on money.

So, I taught Psyduck Dig (because what can possibly go wrong with a 100 Power ground move?) and started grinding.

Highlights of grinding so far. But I'm not ready yet.

Not pictured: String Shot -> Sleep Powder at level 17. Accidentally didn't take a Screenshot.

Screw Supersonic.

Later....

So much better.

In particular, than means:

Quite obviously, I would be screwed without this guy. Sacrificing Hitmonchan against that Drowzee was worth it, because Ivysaur's life is worth so incredibly much more.

Still refuses to learn any moves by itself. I would have had a hard time grinding it if it wasn't for my TMs.

I have seen a lot of Nuzlocke runs where Butterfree played a major role, and I think this Butterfree has the potential for that as well.
Fun Fact (in case you didn't notice): Butterfree has exactly 1 Exp Point more than Psyduck.

And, of course, here's the map. Didn't change a lot. I guess I'll go west first since that route seems to be short.

No more updates until today's evening because there's a thunderstorm approaching.
Spoiler:

Ok, that thunderstorm I was anticipating didn't quite happen, that noise was probably a garbage can or something instead.
So, I continued.

As planned, I first looked what there is in the west, and the only thing I found were a Dragonbreath TM that I can't use, a lass and...

...Rattata. Obligatory top percentage joke included, even though I haven't played english HGSS yet.

Grinded. Always better than not grinding.

The route to the east. All I found here were a cut tree, another cut tree and...

Rattata. This one was level 14 already. Grinded it up as well, one can't go wrong with Raticates.

And, the only remaining route: the northern one, where I got surprised by my rival yesterday. Here, I found some rocks, some more rocks and...

...not Rattata, but Oddish. Surprise, surprise.

Well, I decided I need something in the box, just in case...
Team isn't worth posting since both Raticates still have the standard moveset of Tackle/Tail Whip/Quick Attack/Hyper Fang and no one else leveled.

The map. That eastern route where I caught Duplicate is huge...
Next: Heading north. Current route looks a bit like Nugget Bridge to me (just with rocks instead of water), so there'll be a lot of fights.

More Update.
Spoiler:

So, after taking out the standard nugget bridge trainers including the Rocket, we found the T-Wave TM. For some reason, Raticate can't learn it in this game.

Next route. Quite a bit of trainer battles awaited here.

Do not want.

In the grass, we found Kakuna. At first, I was disapponted, but now I really like my Beedrill, it's awesome.

Grindan.
I used Raticate in that 4th screenshot because Fury Attack was out of PP. Also, Rage is a disappointment since you get locked into it. Still, better than Focus Energy.

And a look at the team at this point. Not too bad considering I already had so many losses.

Continued on the Route where Pain was caught. Found the Cut HM here, not sure who I'll give it to yet.

Once again: Do not want.

This route ends with a guardhouse in which the Swift TM can be obtained. I decided to save it, I might need it more later on.
A bit further north...

Azalea Town?

Also, we find another Guardhouse here that leads to the cycling road. A Shellder can be traded for a Rhyhorn here.
Below the guardhouse is a patch of grass with 3 Bird Catchers (one of them had a Natu), and...

Rattata, of course. I'm running out of ideas for Rattata nicknames...
Next: Owsauri City, which is only a bit to the east. Let's see what awaits us there.

You better don't follow my strategy exactly. I was playing sloppy, had tons of grinding deaths, got wiped in Ecruteak... I didn't have a working team before Blackthorn....

No I mean the steps you did for posting!

Anyways, I started out, named myself Lumm and went to proffessor elm and picked cyndaquil which I nicknamed Henning (Swedish name)
Anyways, I went along for a little while and run into a wild HootHoot, which I nicknamed Jasmine. We continued for a while (this was after mr.pokemon of course) and on the next route, I found a Poliwag, that I named Isabelle, whom I intend on keeping through the whole game. Of course, I have to battle the 2 youngsters right up there, and while trying to train Jasmine Ratata spammed the tail whip and OHKO'd Jasmine D:
I went up to Violet city and went to Sprout tower, where I found a Gastly which I caught and nicknamed Charlotte (all randomly generated), I won against the sprout master with 1 hp left on Charlotte. I then went to the gym, where I only really used Henning. So here's my team:

:t156: Henning-Tackle-Leer-Smokescreen-Ember Lvl 14
:t092: Charlotte-Lick-Hypnosis Lvl 6
:t060: Isabelle-Bubble-Hypnosis Lvl 10

DEAD x_x
:t163: Jasmine-Tackle-Growl Lvl 2-killed by Rattata

So, here's the result of my exploration of Owsauri City:
Spoiler:

First, a Daycare.

Of course, the city has a Market. I bought some Pokeballs there.

A game corner. I don't have the Coin Case yet, so I don't know what you can win there. And no, there is no poster.

An Ice Gym. Great, a type I'm weak against.

And the name rater is here, finally I found him.

Conspiracy Psyduck, anyone?

Random Generator'd.

Only way out of the town.

So, I guess, we have to defeat the Ice Gym, then Cut will be activated and we will get access to the area east of Hayward. Also, to the grass on the route between Seashore City and Gravel Town.

So, we take on the gym, and...
Spoiler:

...
Spoiler:
we see that the first trainer only has level 16 Pokemon. Could be worse. So, Pain continued slaying the gym trainers, so that we can now challenge...

... Lily, who looks like Misty. Surprisingly.

She had the two strongest Ice Pokemon that there are in this gen (excluding Articuno of course), but Duplicate handled them pretty well.
Hyper Fang OHKOd Jynx. Against Lapras, my first Hyper Fang was a crit that almost killed it. Then, Lily used an X-Defend, which didn't do anything, because the next Hyper Fang killed it.

The rewards. Which are awesome. I'm planning to give Cut to Pain because it would actually be an improvement and Ice Beam to Truth. Can't go wrong with giving Ice moves to Waters. And Golduck is going to have a far better special stat than the Raticates have.
Next: Clearing out areas behind Cut trees. There are a lot of them. We are going to skip Seashore gym for now though, I have bad memories from when I played Brown before. Getting wiped with a high-30s-team isn't exactly encouraging to enter that thing again too soon.

...and the next Update is here:
Spoiler:

As planned.

No thanks.

The route between Seashore and Gravel. Took quite a while to get back here.

So, we meet Pidgey, and...

...kill it.
Why? Well, I weakened it with Confusion to something between maybe 25% and 45% HP, then thought that I might weaken it some more with Tackle. I was wrong, Tackle KOd.

Went back all the way to Hayward and found a TM. Saving it for later.

After fighting a ton of trainers, we find this cave. Great, this means new Pokemon.

And we get Cubone. I was about to name it Gevatter Tod, but that didn't quite fit. I'm planning to use this thing, instead of Duplicate probably.

Meanwhile, TFP leveled up, and...

... survived the first Selfdestruct in this run. What the hell was I thinking when I had Raticate as my lead against a Hiker...?

Level 28, and Truth finally decides to learn a move. And it's Tail Whip. No, I don't really need that, thanks.

Later, we finally find the exit. Damn, this cave was huge...

And the first thing we see are a Psyduck and some houses. So where are we now exactly?

Moraga Town it's not exactly a Town, but it's confusing as hell. In particular, that means:
Spoiler:

So, after finding the Pokemon Center, which was a hard task, I started exploring the thing.
Right near the Pokemon Center, we have the Gym.

Looks grassy to me. My Bugs are going to be happy about this when we challenge it.

This grandma gives out the Mimic TM.

As a reward for cutting a tree, we get this. Unfortunately, I don't have a bird though. And I don't exactly know which badge it requires.

Indeed.

No more Pokeballs. Hard times await...
There are Leaf Stones here though.

And we get a Coin Case. We'll see what we can get for money in Owsauri later.

Just one of these trainer schools. Uneccessary after playing your first 30 minutes of Pokemon.

Another tunnel. The final Nido evolutions can be traded here for each other.

And the route to the east. If the map is right, it can't be very long.

Hell of a lot of things to do for a place that has a name ending with Town, right?
Next: More exploring. First, we will take the tunnel, let's see what awaits.

Aaargh, I had already written all this, but then accidentally closed Firefox, and now I have to write everything again. Thank god it's screenshot based.
Spoiler:

So, the tunnel. At first thing looked promising, but then it turned out there was nothing but water...and a Bird Keeper.

So, instead we go to the short route on the east, and find Pidgey. One of the most awesome Pidgeys I ever found, as it will turn out.

Sorry, Duplicate, but I need some variety. Cubone turned out useless by the way, as it only knows Growl.

And the bird learns to Fly.

Interesting: Gust doesn't have the Normal type or Flying type, it has the Wind type...

...which sucks.

As you can probably imagine from that battle against that Pidgey, Freebird evolved at some point. 5 levels later than usual, but whatever.

And we take on the gym because I feel like it. It's even more Celadon gym-ish than it seemed to be at first sight.

Time for ErikaLois. Never heard that name before, so I misread it as Louis.

OHKO.

OHKO.

OHKO.

If that ain't awesome, what's awesome then?

Also, we get rewards. Strength? BUT I WANTED FLY!

...contains Giga Drain which has like 5 PP and therefore sucks. But, I teach it to Phydarad anyways. Because I can. And because it's actually a great improvement. If it would just have some more PP....

Team Time!

Always awesome. A real lifesaver in that huge cave before this town.

Can't wait for this to evolve.

Deleted Poison-P. because I need Tackle for catching.

Yes, I decided to go with my original Raticate. Who still has the standard moveset...

Could need 1 or 2 better moves. Twinneedle alone makes this already awesome though. Generally, I'm positively surprised.

Do I really need to say anything?

And the map. Yes, that one part there is confusing since the cave ended right in this town. Also, I don't know as what that area (which I can't access because of water) below the short route counts.

So here's my update

I went down through the route under Violet City and run into an Ekans! I named it Ethan (Randomly generated), went down to that cave near Azalea and found a Sandshrew (useless-named Meaghan) and went onwards and killed rockets at slowpoke well, instead of slowpoke being the firstg found, there's Zubat! ( Always fun)-named Moorea (mom gave me a weird name). Anyways I beat the leader and beat my rival (It was so difficult) and now I'm training my team near Goldenrod, oh and Charlotte died in the Rival battle D:
Here we are:

:t041: Moorea-Leechlife-Supersonic-Swift-Bite-Lvl 15
:t156: Henning-Tackle-Leer-Smokescreen-Ember-Lvl 19
:t027: Meaghan-Scratch-DefenseCurl-Cut-Lvl 6
:t060: Isabelle-Bubble-Hypnosis-WaterGun-Lvl 17
:t054: Gommo-Scratch-TailWhip-Lvl 7

DEAD
:t163: Jasmine-Tackle-Growl-Lvl2-Killed by Rattata
:t092: Charlotte-Lick-Hypnosis-Lvl12-Killed by Zubat

Since we did everything in Moraga Town, it's now time to head further to the east, to Jaeru City. Which is pretty small, so there's not much to do here.
Spoiler:

So, what do we find?

Requires 50 Pokemon.

Bike shop. One more reason to go back to Owsauri on an occassion since the cycling road was near there.

Thunderstones. But no Pokeballs, onyl Great Balls...

Obviously, an electric gym.

So Steel type exists in this game... Sawr II still destroyed the gym trainers, but if the leader has a Magneton, things may become difficult. Time to grind.

Badass.

Moveset changes. Phydarad forgot Confusion, Pain forgot Harden, Freebird forgot Gust.

Level 32 should be enough, so let's take on Sparky.

In case you didn't expect it, he looks like Surge.

Pokemon are Raichu,

Electabuzz (this one was rather annoying because Razor Leaf missed like 3 times in a row)

and Jolteon. Why do I think that there will be a Fire-type leader with a Flareon, why...?

Rewards are pretty much the same as in the original.

So, we fly back to Owsauri City...

...and look what there's to win in the game corner. This is looking pretty awesome.

2 Eevees? And Tyrogue is that expensive? Weird.

RCs, Toxic and ... what the hell is TM 41?

I'll probably get Cyndaquil here, since I already have Sawr II who I am not planning to lose, and water Pokemon are plentyful in all Pokemon games....and I have Truth.

Now, let's take a look at the cycling road.

Looked at the map, it still belongs a route I already was at. I met a level 14 Spearow here, which fits.

I hate you game.
Found a biker a bit later. 5 Pokemon? Probably 5 level 20 Koffings, I thought. Well, I was wrong.

Imagine my facial expression at this point. Just imagine it.
Dig did like nothing, and Truth got poisoned. Sawr II managed to handle the beast though.

This thing also went down, luckily.

At first, I was like *lolglitch*, but then I saddened.
TFP got avenged by Sawr II and Freebird, but still...

Another Muk. Doesn't look good for me, Sawr II can't take much more.

I hate you game. Pain avenged Freebird, but...

..then, this was sent out.

Seriously, what the hell?

Somehow, I managed to Leech Seed it without Sawr II dying, and Psybeam spam from Phydarad brought it down eventually.

Team after the battle. Shortly ago, they were proud winners of the fourth gym, but now...

I hate you, game. Putting that overleveled Biker there is ******** (<-apparently wordfilter ruined my appropriate cursing here), and you know it.

The survivors. Rebuilding is not going to be easy...

Rebuildan.
Spoiler:

Duplicate was an obvious choice (going to avenge his brother, well he would be if that biker wasn't already dead...), while the rest was quite forced.

Someone needed to get that move, no other way to get back otherwise.

OH ArceusDAMMIT NOT THAT CAVE AGAIN

Trainer was blocking the patch of grass east of Jaeru. Had a Flaaffy. Interesting.

That Spearow eat up 3 Pokeballs. Was that really worth it.

This time it shall be for real.

Don't need Cut right now. I might be in need of some Backup later though.

Obligatory. I don't want to have to go through that cave AGAIN.

This was hard work. Freebird was sooo much better...

Grinding continued.
And, at level 25, Cubone finally learned another move than Growl:

...Leer. You know what?

Screw this I don't need 6 Pokemon.

Later...

Let's continue. But wait, first...

Yeah, I looked up when Psyduck evolves in the meantime.

More story progress.
Spoiler:

To the north of Jaeru, we find an interesting route that leades to the Pokemon league.

To the east, we find a couple of Johto Pokemon that are included in this hack. I wonder if there is Yanmega...

Hell, this is creepy.

After we got rid of the Creepytuff, we found these two buildings.

Remember the beer (that replaced Fresh Water) that we bought in Hayward? No? Well, we'll need it here.

Team Rocket time. Also, we will get a Pokemon in the basement.

Entrance to said basement. Here, Seismic Toss, a PP Up and the Up-Grade (which works like a stone in this game, if I remember correctly) can be found.

Great. There's awesome stuff like Gastly and Grimer down here, and also, Spinarak (not that good, but still a whole lot cooler than Paras) is quite common. But, the RNG gods decide to give us yet another derp for the team.

At first, I did actually start grinding, but after 3 or so battles, I decided I don't need a Pokemon with 2 4x weaknesses and bad overall stats.
So...

Rocket time instead of grinding time.

Looks like we need a Card Key. Interestingly, after finishing this warehouse, I still don't have one.

Hell Yes.
I had switched at that point because some guy decided to spam Poison types at me. Overall, TR had a bigger variety than usual though.

Guillotine. Scared the hell out of me. Thank god I used Dig at that time.

And the epic boss battle is right ahead. I decide to go healing first though.

I was expecting Ground types, not this. Not a really favorable match up, so I switch.

Rhyhorn. Easy.

Marowak. Also easy. I never got to know whether it knew anything else than Growl and Leer.

This thing might have become dangerous, but thankfully Giovanni never decided to use STAB always crit Slash and kept lowering my statuses instead.

Surprise ensues: We don't get a Masterball, we get a Shiny Stone. Which means that either Togepi or Roselia is in the game. I guess it will be Togepi...

And, from the PC, I get the Beer I had deposited long ago.

So, the guardian steals our beer, but we can get through his gatehouse.

Let's see what awaits here.

Next city time. A rather strange one this time
Spoiler:

There's no gym in this town, so I guess no leader with Flareon...

Wait, what?

And who is going to find him?

Looked like a normal house, but inside is some kind of forest. Strange.

A Cave.

The route to the south. Unfortunately I don't have Oddish with me.

For Some reason, Botan City seems to lack a Pokemon Center, which does pretty much suck.

Team Time, since this is the last update for today.

Could need some minor moveset improvements. Still my MVP up to now, by far.

Was about time for this to evolve. And it's doing great now.

Awesome for catching Pokemon and has Psychic moves.

Raticate. Just Raticate. Hyper Fang is, as always, awesome.

Drill Peck. Just Drill Peck. Fearow doesn't need anything else.

Map. Didn't change too much. For some reason, Silph Warehouse is nowhere on this map, but whatever. It's on a finished route anyways.

Next: Getting an actually good 6th teammember. I already have planned something. only 6000 money to go, and I still have a Nugget on the Box
However, since that town we are actually in looks pretty Lavender-ish, I might get a Gastly as well. Or maybe even a Missingno since that one guy talked about them... I don't think I would really want to train a Missingno though, I'd rather have real Pokemon.

No one posted overnight? Ah, whatever...
Spoiler:

In that cave, we find a Natu. Also, Phanpy is pretty common there.

Xatu looks like some kind of deity. So Sacrifice to it.

*Orb get*

Castro? Fidel Castro? So we're going to Cuba?

Route to the south. I wanted to have this thing, but...

...I didn't get it.

The SS. Anne? Interesting.
Looks like we're going to see Mura again soon.

*Orb deliver*
TM 30? Teleport? Well, at least I can make some money out of it...

...or not. I'm okay with this.

I hate this coin buying system, and takes eternally to be even such a small amount of coins with this...

Introducing: Ezalb. Everyone and their grandma call Fire Pokemon Blaze, but I wanted someting innovative.

Grindan forever. And yes, I also got the rest of my team up to level 36 on that occassion.
Next: Exploring Cuba. May or not include the SS.Anne.

Exploring+Gym Leader
Spoiler:

At that point. The Old Rod. AT THAT POINT.

lolwut.jpg

A forest? Well, that was about time.

And, of course, I don't have one.

Fighting Gym. There are also some Tauros and a Gligar in here though.
Spoiler:

Found in a big house right next to the gym. Apparently based on Cinnabar Mansion. And, of course, I entered the battle unprepared and the Growlithe got away. I'll look around some more in this house later on.

I don't want Ultraballs, I want Pokeballs. Damn...

Thought this house was a gatehouse that leads somewhere, and instead I find an item. Whatever that thing might be, I honestly have no idea.

5 or 6 trainers that got Drill Pecked to death later...

Yeah, I entered that battle unprepared. I thought it was just one more of these Blackbelts. All these went down easily though, even though their levels were frighteningly high, considering all the time I already spent on grinding... Probably I should have done something before this... Maybe going north into that creepy forest-house-thing first when I was at Botan...

Oh Crap. No way to OHKO this. Let's pray it doesn't know Rock Slide.

That was luckily not Rock Slide, it was Dynamicpunch. Which still hurt a lot. But, for some reason didn't confuse. Looks like the creator of the hack screwed up on that part.

So, Machamp dies a deserved and painful death, and I get rewards for it, as usual.

So the Surf HM has to be near... Probably either on SS.Anne or in that Cinnabar mansion thing. But then again, Strength has been enabled quite a while ago, but still isn't usable...

Grinding time. I have to get a team up to level 40.
Decided I might as well explore that house first, and get some levels there. That thing turned out to be huge.

Look of the switches changed apparently.

No Mewtwo story?

So someone's paren'ts died? 7 years ago? Interesting.

Teleporters.
As I had to find out soon, they're not just Teleporters they're one-way-teleporters. The two on the right lead to the basement, the one on the left leads back.

Where was that route again? I kinda forgot...

Crit Selfdestruct didn't kill? Awesome. And people talk about Fire-types being frail... Ezalb wasn't even at full HP at that time...

The basement turned out to be a cave. With some pretty strong Pokemon inside, like for example...

...Graveler, as this picture that doesn't quite look like it should, shows.
Also, I hate inaccurate moves like Octazooka.

Truth took it like a beast.

Wait, what?

Wait, what? [2]

Bye Scratch.

Useless.

wait, what? [3]

So, the exploration of that mansion didn't quite lead to what I was expecting (Ticket or Surf), but weird items. Well, at least some extreme badassness was shown.
Team is still far from being entirely at level 40, so I'll need some grinding. No way around it.
Interesting fact I found out while grinding: Bellsprout is not a Poison type in this game. I didn't find out yet what it is, but it certainly isn't Poison.

Now, after having finished grinding to level 40, we take on that forest in Botan City.
Spoiler:

All we find is a teleporter, that leads to a cave. Where the next rival battle awaits.

I remembered his lead being Koffing the last time, so I hoped it would be that way again. And it was that way again. And, looking at the levels... I probably should really have done this way before...

Not the best matchup, but since I have an advantage of 11 levels, I decided to keep Phydarad in.

This one was tough. For some reason, Psybeam didn't exactly do a lot, and Gastly did have a couple of pretty annoying moves.

...I think I have to get a Fighting Pokemon somewhere, I feel like there is going to be a Tyranitar somewhere near the end of the game...

Switched because I didn't want Phydarad to get killed by a rock move. And yes, I realized my stupidity here, I should have switched to Truth already when I was facing that Larvitar.
I still won though.

Cave (which had no Pokemon by the way) led to this point.

Close Call. Just like Bellsprout, Gastly seems to have his Poison type removed.

Card Key? For Silph? Here? Interesting.

First wild Pokemon. Just the usual ghost in disguise. Can't use moves against, can't catch, only thing that works is running. So, no Pokemon for me in this area...

What the hell? How can Gastly resist Flying? What type did they give him? It can't be Rock or Steel, because Sawr II's Razor Leaf always worked fine against these things.

Don't ever step on this thing. Game will freeze. This is what made me stop playing Brown when I played it a while ago: I had been playing for a pretty long time, without having bothered to save, and then walked into that thing. That ruined stuff for me that time...

Making Razor Leaf even more powerful? Hell yeah, why not?
By now, it came to my mind that crits ignore raised stats, but I can't change it anymore now. Well, Sawr II will get Sleep Powder soon anyways.

I really believed this at first, but it turned out this is just Marowak in disguise. Since I don't have a Pokedoll or Silph Scope, I have no idea what might be behind that last teleporter. Looks like we'll have to return here later.
Next: Castro Forest. The only thing (apart from the rest of cycling road) I can access and haven't been to yet.

As promised, the forest:
Spoiler:

They do, actually. At least if foolish attempts of killing the player character by using level 30 bugs count as messing around.

Items. That trade stone looks interesting, if it's what I suppose, I think they should include it into the real games. But, since I don't have any of Kadabra and friends, it's of no use for me.

Pokemon only spawn at the end of this forest. For some reason.

Seriously, what exactly is a level 27 Beedrill going to learn? Derpiest thing the game gave me up to now. Pain was so incredibly much better than this....

Weird stairs, that lead to some weird basement, that leads into some weird house, that... IT'S A TRAP!
After defeating the guy, I looked into the grass.

Oh come on, game... One derp after another... It's totally not like I already have a Golduck that ate tons of TMs...
Later, I found out there are also Tauros and Farfetch'd on this route. Why didn't I get one of THEM?

Route ends with Snorlax, but since I don't have the Silph Scope yet, I can't remove Marowak or whatever the ghost is in this game. Therefore, I can't save the guy who is probably behind that one teleporter, and therefore I'm not going to receive the Pokeflute soon...

The other exit of the forest leads to...

...Water. That route is actually entirely blocked by it.

What locations are left to search for stuff that could help to continue...?
- Cycling Road (including grinding to at least level 45 before, ugh...)
- Seashore Gym (again, bad experiences here, this time from the past)
- The items behind the closed doors in Silph. Yes, I think I'll go there first.

So...

This might actually be worth it. Phydarad can't learn it though, I thought it could...

I also got another Trade Stone and a Red Amulet.
I think I'll just go to that ghost thing with the Red Amulet and all other Key Items I have of which I don't know what they do and then look if something works.
...
Turned out the only other unknown key item I still had on the PC was "Virus Scan". And the ghost is disguised as Missingno in this game... Yeah, I should have noticed this earlier...
*deposits Red Amulet again*

Yes, that seems to work.
(later)
And the ghost is...

...Cubone's mother, as usual. Just that the Kangaskhan-theory was applied in this case.

Since when do Kangaskhans have the ability to disguise as Missingnos?

Oh yeah, Team Rocket is also there.

Awesome.

Expectedly, the item is the Pokeflute. Time for Snorlax, I guess. I found out this is a new route by the way. And, since this route isn't going to lead anywhere, there has to be an item here somewhere. An important item.

Usual Text, Usual Pokemon.

No idea why I was leading with Truth here.
So, I weakened it a bit with Truth until it used Rest. Then, I switched to Duplicate and used Super Fang three (or four?) times. Then, I switched to Phydarad, put it asleep and throwed one Pokeball.

Caught. Admittedly, I had some luck that it didn't just rest again, but it didn't.
And seriously, I would have expected more from Snorlax than getting caught with just one Pokeball...

Enough updates for today. Here are the team and the map.
Spoiler:

I found out that Growth does actually do something for me. A strong trainer with 3 Electabuzzes that could live a crit Razor Leaf, helped me finding that out, because after Growth, Razor Leaf OHKOd.

I want Surf. It's about time, I think.

No changes, except the level of course.

Still, I didn't use even 1 TM on this... maybe I should... Then again, Raticates always seem to die sooner or later...

Like Phydarad, this didn't change.

Look at that monstrous Special stat. No, I certainly don't regret buying this at Owsauri, it has been going great so far. Lacks some move variety, but then again..., 4 of my 6 team Pokemon do that.

Actually I can still catch a Pokemon in Castro Valley, that mansion was an area for itself. The map said so when I was inside, but for some reason, it's not on the map.

Next: Whatever is in the storyline after Snorlax.

Massive Update.
Spoiler:

Obtained Stuff.

Finally.

Found a huge building.Turned out to be the Power Plant.
Seriously, why does Pikachu look like Clefairy?

Found some items.

Next: That route south of Owsauri.

Tentacool. It's everywhere on water routes (at least before the introduction of Wingull), and it's awesome when trained.

Turned out that route leads to nowhere.

Hayward-Seashore route.
I already caught Phydarad here, so no Water Pokemon for me here.

Found another trade stone here, also interesting cave there. I'll have to get back here later.

What exactly is this?

Got Poliwag in Seashore. I will evolve it into Politoed if I get the chance, I haven't used that thing for ages...

Entered cave. Seems to have no name.

Trainer challenged me. Oh crap.

I actually got rid of the Mismagius and the Ariados that followed it, but there was no way to beat this thing.
I hate you, game.
I REALLY HATE YOU, GAME.

The fallen. NEVER FORGET.

I'm not giving up. I will continue. For Sawr II. For The Truth. For Phydarad. For DrillPeck. And for Ezalb. Their deaths will not be unavenged.

INTRODUCING...
Spoiler:

Believe me, that took me quite a while. Actually almost the whole day.

As you can see, Gevatter finally learned some attacking moves. The first one was Thrash at 41. What would I do without TMs...?
Also, Pikachu/Raichu had a name change. I just felt like I should name one of my Pokemon "Avenger" and I chose the one with the stupidest nickname.

Map. Not many changes.

See the new team in action.
Spoiler:

North of Castro Valley, there is this cave.

Found Marill here. Sadly Huge Power doesn't exist yet...

That cave was HUGE... This is the western end, and that ladder leads to a rather strange place.

Seriously, where am I?

Scout is delicious, and so is Swinub.

Items. I also found a Dusk Stone.

CAn't go any further here. So, guess, I'll just...

Dammit.

Much later. Fishing in Castro Valley.

Seriously, I have no idea what a good nickname for Goldeen would be.

South of Castro Forest.

Seriosuly.

Two ways to go here.

To the east, there is a gym, and nothing else. I'll save this for later, because since it looks Blaine-ish, it must be strong. That leader probably has an Arceus.

To the west, a water route. Saved for later.

Because first, it's time to finish Cycling Road.

And I don't like you too, you murderer.

Can't Surf here...

Damn, that was my last Pokeball. So, I guess no more new Pokemon for me since there are almost nowhere Pokeballs lying around in this region.

Paradox: The cycling route becomes a watery route here, but it's still going uphill.

I also have to do Johto? I'm already afraid of that Miltank...

Cycling route ends somewhere far in the south with... A Snorlax. Which I can't catch.

Next: Snorlax. And the stuff behind it.

The Johto part of this game
Spoiler:

I had no choice but to kill it.

Daycare is blocked, and the way to Goldenrod is blocked as well...

So, I go to the south.

Also found Razor Fang

Whatever a Gold Leaf is...?

Azalea, but without Slowpokes.

Kurt is blocked, that Farfetch'd guy's house is also blocked, and even the Market is blocked. Only the Pokemon center and gym are open.

Union cave is blocked as well.

But Slowpoke well is open. Got a King's Rock here.

Seems like an Earthquake is the excuse for all these places being blocked....

And, once again, I accidentally didn't heal before the battle. It's not going to matter this time, but I shall not do it again. Too risky.

Easy up to this point.

Yanmega actually survived a Fly, but it didn't do anything.

I decide to switch.

FLAWLESS VICTORY.

Surprisingly, none of them is a bug.

Guess which one I'll choose.

Next: Choosing one of these Pokemon.
Also, Seashore gym. I should be strong enough now.

Decided to skip that Pokemon choice until I really need one. I'm not planning to replace anyone in my current team anyways.
Spoiler:

So, instead, I head...

...to Seashore. Just to realize I need Cut for this.

Also, my item storage room is full. I'll have to sell/use some stuff I guess...

Decided to deposit Sea Zubat because...

...This is the most psychic gym ever. Even though there are just as many ghost trainers.
Turned out I need Surf to reach the leader here, so I deposited Gevatter instead. Wouldn't have done much in this gym with that special stat. Duplicate's Special might not be much better, but always when I deposited Duplicate for some reason, something bad always happened soon. Not going to make that mistake again.

And here's that famous trainer who walks over water.

Gym leader time.

First, a Starmie.

Yeah, I know. I have already won at that point. Except if something like Gallade or Medicham gets thrown in.

But, there is none of these guys. Since I haven't even seen there preevos yet, I doubt they're in this game.

Yet another flawless victory. Let's hope it will stay that way.

Psychic. I think Sacrifice. will learn it by itself, so I think I'll give it to Snorlax.

Next: That normal gym south of Castro Valley. If the gym trainers are going to be too high, I'll change that plan and go for that one remaining water route first though.

Time for the next gym.
Spoiler:

Everyone knows Mankey is Poison/Dragon.

Low 40s? I think I can do this.

Of course. How could you get there in GSC otherwise?

(Marill is not catchable in Rijon?)
No, and I totally haven't catched one yet.

Epic battle of the fatties.

Don't know what I answered here, but I did fight the trainer.

On the map it's on the south, so I guess it is.

I had to go through the whole Castro Forest yet another time for this battle....

Raticate. Wasn't in the top percentage of Raticates.

I think I'll better switch when he brings out the big guns...

Oh, it's just Pidgeot, that won't do anything.

Well, that's a different thing.

Stupid Dynamicpunch kept missing - when Gevatter didn't get parahaxed. Should have used Bonemerang instead...

So, it came again to an epic battle of the fatties. This time both even were at the same level. I still won.

Hyper Beam.
I already have one of these, but whatever.... Maybe I'll teach it to Duplicate, it might actually become helpful in some situations.

Next: Castro Forest AGAIN. And then, that water route west of this gym.

560cool.

An old timer?

UPDATE 1

Well, this update contains Seashore-Merson stuff : (note : I have no Pics since tinypic likes being annoying)

Spoiler:
Well, this game is odd. I had a route with two cut trees which led to Grass. I reached Gravel Town and this Tim moved like crap. Whatever. I chose Bulbasaur ....
and nicknamed him Seed Thing (seriously).
So I kept going to Merson Cave and what fo I find ...
THE INFAMOUS, SICK and HORRIFYING ...
Zubat.
Yes, out of Vulpix, Geodude, Clefairy... I got A ZUBAT ! ...
Which died against a Ratatta anyways.
er-hem. I got throught Merson Cave with Seed Thing which ran out of PP in any move. I reached Merson Town (Lavender Music, lol) and healed, released WHYYYYY (the Zubat) and saved.
PS : I also caught a Doduo on the Rt. outside Merson Cave. GREAT ! :)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
TEAM :

Seed Thing (Bulbasaur) Lv. 13 : Tackle, Vine Whip, Growl, Leech Seed
