Are you really allowed to do a Pokemon BROWN challenge?

Since it isnt an official game i dont think it should be allowed.

I feel is should be, to allow a good difference to everything. I like it. Better than reading all the boring posts here about another person joining with Yellow.

With enemies like that, who needs friends?

Okay here it is! Note, this was done last night,

Spoiler:

Starting a long adventure,

My name? NEWB

Went to Elms to get LAZY the Cyndaquil.

Made it through Route 29, no encounter.

Ecountered Spinarak. Fainted it. Route 30.

Job from a Proffesor!

Grindgrindgrind=LVL.12!

Yes.Very happy.

LARRY. Appropriate enough.

Encountered Hoothoot!Route 29, First Capture!

I shall name you LUCK.

Grindgrindgrind; LUCK=LVL.12!

Made my way to Dark Cave to encounter a Geodude, now named SYLVESTER.

Route 31.Stretch the Bellsprout is mine!

Lazy evolved!

Grinded Stretch to 6, now boxed for reserve.

Grindin Sylvester to 12.

Sprout Tower granted me with a Gastly Named Ghost. And i was actually looking forward to a rat.

Luck made some fried veggies out of the bellsprouts in the tower.

Sylvester threw rocks all over that gym of Falkners.

Heres my team so far.

Decision time. Should I recieve the togepi, or get the onix? Find out next time!

'Kay then, I'll try this on Red.

My name shall be Warlord. My rival shall be Enemy.
I'm starting with Squirtle because Bulba has too many weaknesses and Char has lower Defense. Fingers crossed for an Oddish or something before Misty to make things easier.

My Squirtle's name is Tank. Let the game begin.

Day 1:
Beat Enemy in the 1-on-1 battle with Bulbasaur. Tank grew to lv. 6.
Made a valiant effort to get to Viridian, back, then to Viridian again without encountering any Pokemon - failed handily.
Bought 3 Pokeballs.
Encountered and captured a lv. 4 Rattata on Route 22.
Name it Plague.
Trained for a while.
Encountered a wild lv. 3 Weedle on Route 2. Didn't particularly want it, accidentally OHKO'ed it with a Critical Hit from Plague anyhow.
A little more training and we'll take on Enemy and the forest.

The Troops:
Tank/Squirtle/lv. 11
Plague/Rattata/lv. 7

Casualties: 0

Update:
Spoiler:

Encountered a lv. 4 Weedle in Viridian Forest. Captured it and named it "Chemical." Trained it without allowing it to evolve till lv. 9, trained Kakuna to lv. 10. Will keep Beedrill at a low level to safely catch wild Pokemon.
Had a close call with Plague, who was poisoned near the entryway of the forest. No Antidote, and so very many steps to the Pokecenter. However, he pulled through.
Trained Tank to lv. 15 and Plague to lv. 11. Faced Enemy. Defeated Pidgey easily, Bulbasaur took several Water Guns from Tank and a Quick Attack from Plague.
Tank reached lv. 16 and evolved after the battle.
Traveled through the forest, defeating each trainer and wild Pokemon with Plague. Plague reached lv. 13.
Entered the tall grass in Pewter and immediately encountered a lv. 3 Pidgey. Weakened it with Poison Sting, captured it. Named it Blackhawk.
Trained Plague to lv. 14, at which point it learned Hyper Fang.
Defeated everything in Brock's gym with Tank. Tank grew to lv. 17.
Returned to the tall grass and trained Blackhawk to lv. 8. Pity it won't learn any Flying moves before better Birds become available. Sand Attack is handy, though.

The Troops:
Tank, lv. 17
Plague, lv. 14
Chemical, lv. 10
Blackhawk, lv. 8

Casualties: 0

Update #2
Spoiler:

Trained Tank and Plague to lv. 18.
Plague dominated Route 3 with Hyper Fang. First Pokemon outside of Mt. Moon was a lv. 6 Pidgey. Caught it anyway and named it Alpha. Compared stats - Blackhawk is better. Boxed Alpha for later.
First Mt. Moon Pokemon was a lv. 9 Zubat, of course. Named it Sonar. Trained it to lv. 10 so it learned Supersonic, boxed it. Lord help me if I need to go to the PC to replace anyone.
Defeated all the trainers and collected all of the items (other than the hidden Moonstone) in Mt. Moon.
Plague evolved. Finally encountered a Spearow, lv. 10, in the tall grass outside Mt. Moon. Named it Warbird. He'll be good for Bulbasaur.
Time to train for Misty and Nugget Bridge.

The Troops:
Plague, lv. 21
Tank, lv. 21
Chemical, lv. 11
Blackhawk, lv. 11
Warbird, lv. 10

Casualties: 0

Day 2

Spoiler:

Did some field work with Tank, Plague and Warbird, wandering through the tall grass till they were respectable levels.
Boxed Chemical. Blackhawk will be kept at a low level to capture wild Pokemon.
Neutralized Enemy with virtually no effort - Plague knocked out everything with Hyper Fang.
Plague, Tank and Warbird had some fun on Nugget Bridge.
Entered the tall grass on Route 24. Encountered ... an Abra. Abra used Teleport. Goodbye, Abra.
Defeated the trainers on Route 25. Had a close call with Warbird, who was poisoned near the end of the Route. Engaged in another battle in the Rt. 24 grass just for the excuse of using a Potion on him. Made it to Pokemon Center in time.

Defeated the Rocket's Machop and Drowzee with Tank. Acquired Dig.

Went down Route 5. Encountered and captured a lv. 10 Mankey. Named him Yossarian. Had a feeling he was not long for this world.
Took the Underground Path to Vermillion. Encountered a lv. 16 Pidgey in the tall grass. Captured it and named it Bravo. Defeated Bug Catcher and the two trainers blocking the entrance to Vermillion. Boxed Bravo.
Entered Diglett Cave and caught a lv. 18 Diglett. Named Diglett "Gravediggr." Raised Gravediggr to lv. 19 in the cave so it learned Dig. Was ambushed by a lv. 29 Dugtrio, but Warbird, with his immunity to Ground moves, was able to defeat it.
Boarded the S.S. Anne briefly to obtain Great Ball from the trash cans, just in case another Abra was encountered.
Returned to Route 25 and entered tall grass.
Encountered a lv. 8 Weedle.
Defeated it.
Chose Tank as my Pokemon to face Misty with, as Starmie's Special is more intimidating than its attack and Tank can easily absorb Bubblebeam.
Defeated Staryu easily. Despite Tank's five-level advantage, Starmie was much faster. Tank stayed true to his name, holding steady through a barrage of Tackles while dealing significantly more damage to Starmie with Bite.
Defeated Starmie, with 49 HP left.
Tank grew to lv. 27.
Took Yossarian out to train in the grass.
Foolishly left Yossarian out against Spearow. Was KOed with super-effective Peck.
Yossarian was released.

The Troops:
Tank, lv. 27
Plague, lv. 26
Warbird, lv. 22
Gravediggr, lv. 19
Blackhawk, lv. 14

Boxed:
Alpha, lv. 6
Bravo, lv. 16
Sonar, lv. 11
Chemical, lv. 11

Casualties:
Yossarian, lv. 11

Update:

Trained Gravediggr rather recklessly in the tall grass, knowing his terrible Defense would forever make him a liability against anything fast enough to crit. hit with reasonably frequency.
Sure enough, a Pidgey KOed him.
Released Gravediggr.
Surge will be interesting now.

I think the fossil counts as Cinnabar Island, since you obtain the Pkmn there.
But Cinnabar Island does not include Pkmn Mansion!
'Kay, thanks.
Looks like Sonar gets to live another day. ;)

Day 3
Spoiler:

Captured a lv. 5 Magikarp with the Old Rod (no weakening possible or required, chucked one Pokeball at him). Named him Torpedo. Trained him to lv. 21 in my favorite low-level training ground, Diglett Cave. Taught him Water Gun.
Stored him on PC, as with Water Gun and Bite he's basically a replacement Tank right now.
Trained Tank to lv. 35. He evolved on the SS Anne.
Trained Plague and Warbird to lv. 29. Plague reached lv. 30 on the SS Anne, after defeating all three of Enemy's Pokemon with Hyper Fang. He doesn't even have a Venusaur yet. Baby.
Tried to remember just how big my non-starters could get without disobeying me.
Considered running to Rock Tunnel after I obtained CUT to try for a Ground type, but it didn't seem worth the hassle.
Defeated Surge's buddies with Tank (none of them were out long enough for me to see how much damage an Electric attack will do to my Water type), defeated Surge proper with Plague. Plague grew to lv. 31 mid-battle.
Obtained Thunderbolt TM.
Really needed to catch a Pokemon, tried some more tall grass outside Rock Tunnel.
Spearow.
Named him Charlie. Off to the box. Caught a lv. 16 Rattata in another patch of grass (I've given up on route names since they're hardly ever labeled, I just figure it's a new place when the music changes). Named it Delta. Boxed.
First Pokemon encountered in Rock Tunnel was Onix. Dodged two Pokeballs and a Great Ball at very low health - I finally just KOed it. Not worth it for an Onix.
Navigated Rock Tunnel without Flash, keeping Torpedo along as Water-type backup. Warbird learned Drill Peck by the 2nd-to-last level of the tunnel.
Emerged in Lavender. Healed. Bought 6 Great Balls. Went to Celadon.
Caught a Mankey in the tall grass outside Celadon (Route 7?), named it Echo. Boxed.
Bought bribes Fresh Water, obtained Eevee. Named it Generator. Evolved it immediately with Thunderstone and taught it Thunderbolt.
Cut down the tree and obtained Fly.
Taught Blackhawk to Fly.
Taught Warbird to Fly.
Flew back to Lavender.
Defeated the Water trainers on the top half of Silence Bridge with Generator.
I suppose I'll be getting my Silph Scope now.

The Troops:
Tank, lv.38
Warbird, lv. 34
Plague, lv. 32
Generator, lv. 27
Torpedo, lv. 22

Boxed:
Alpha
Bravo
Charlie
Delta
Echo
Chemical
Blackhawk

Casualties: 2
Yossarian (Mankey)
Gravediggr (Diglett)

Uh, Whitney wiped me out. So game over for me.

I'll try this again another time, kay?

Sorry it's been a while since I updated - been at my friend's lake house for a bit and this is the first chance I've gotten to play and update.

Chapter 4: Goldenrod City

Team:
:t158: Totodile Lv 16 - New Bark Town
:t074: Geodude Lv 15 - Union Cave
:t012: Butterfree Lv 14 - Route 31
:t019: Rattata Lv 13 - Sprout Tower
:t194: Wooper Lv 13 - Route 32
:t041: Zubat Lv 10 - Route 33

Box:
:t190: Aipom Lv 10 - Azalea Town
:t043: Oddish Lv 5 - Ilex Forest
:t175: Togepi Lv 5 - Violet City
:t201-k: Unown Lv 5 - Ruins of Alph

Dead:
:t074: Geodude Lv 9 - Dark Cave [Killed by Bellsprout]

Failed to Catch: Route 29 (Pidgey), Route 30 (Ledyba)
Skipped Areas: Cherrygrove City, Slowpoke Well, Route 34

I began by backtracking to Route 34 where I battled the trainers I had skipped on my way into Goldenrod. After wiping the floor with them, I entered the grass to find...

:t132: Ditto Lv 10 - Route 34

Not exactly what I was hoping for; in fact it was the exact opposite, but I guess I'll take what I can get. I easily caught the Ditto and it was sent to my box to join my reserves.

Next on my list was Route 35. I battled all of the trainers and then entered the grass to find...

:t039: Jigglypuff Lv 12 - Route 35

Not the perfect option, but it's definitely a step up from Ditto. Unfortunately, I killed it. Oh well, at least I have lots of reserves.

The last of the areas for me to check was the National Park. The first Pokemon I found was...

:t029: Nidoran (F) Lv 12 - National Park

Nidoran (F) is a good defensive Pokemon; definitely worth catching. Luckily, I caught it. It was sent to my box to join Ditto and the others .

With the new Pokemon caught, it was time to challenge Whitney. Geodude proved a huge help and easily dispatched of Clefairy and Miltank.

With my duty in Goldenrod done, it was time to leave the city for the time being. As I left the city, my Pokemon consisted of...

Team:
:t074: Geodude Lv 20 - Union Cave
:t158: Totodile Lv 17 - New Bark Town
:t012: Butterfree Lv 16 - Route 31
:t019: Rattata Lv 15 - Sprout Tower
:t194: Wooper Lv 14 - Route 32
:t041: Zubat Lv 14 - Route 33

Box:
:t032: Nidoran (F) Lv 12 - National Park
:t132: Ditto Lv 10 - Route 34
:t190: Aipom Lv 10 - Azalea Town
:t043: Oddish Lv 5 - Ilex Forest
:t175: Togepi Lv 5 - Violet City
:t201-k: Unown Lv 5 - Ruins of Alph

Dead:
:t074: Geodude Lv 9 - Dark Cave [Killed by Bellsprout]

Failed to Catch: Route 29 (Pidgey), Route 30 (Ledyba), Route 35 (Jigglypuff)
Skipped Areas: Cherrygrove City, Slowpoke Well, Goldenrod City

Update:
Spoiler:
Took out half the Game Corner with Generator and half with Plague, since Generator was a low level and Plague won't be able to level up in the Tower (all his attacks are Physical).
Obtained Silph Scope.
Taught Tank to Dig.
Paid my respects in the Tower. Defeated Enemy with Plague, captured a Gastly (lv. 20, "Fallen"), defeated some ghosts, Channelers and Rockets. Obtained PokeFlute. Boxed Fallen.
Leveled up the two Specialists and the Flyer (Tank, Generator, Warbird) in the tower. Kept Ground-immune Torpedo on to take out any Cubone that showed up while Generator was in front.

Remembered there was a gym I hadn't attended to. Flew to Celadon to defeat Erika.
Realized how much weaker the Gyms' Pokemon are in Red than in Yellow. Defeated the girls with Fly and Erika with Drill Peck. No damage taken. No room for Mega Drain, I'll come back for it later if I need it.
Time to wake up some Snorlaxes.

The Troops:

Warbird, lv. 44
Tank, lv. 44
Generator, lv. 39
Plague, lv. 35
Torpedo, lv. 23
Chemical, lv. 11

Boxed:
Alpha

Well, I grinded totodile to lv. 15, fought rival, fairly easy as it was a level15 vs. Lv 5
In sprout tower had a close encounter with a bell sprout, where totodile was left poisoned with 1 hp, then I switched to zubat
I destroyed falconer without more than 10 damage, with a lv 19 croconaw
So totodile only really battled, the first rival, then evolved
Anyways, I haven't played much today so I guess I'll post in about an hour.

My current team:

Croconaw kihnefajul
Lv. 24

Zubat aerostrike
Lv. 7

Poliwag watamaton
Lv. 4

Gastly hateu
Lv. 5

Pidgey falkner

Welcome to the challenge - and good luck! ;)

Still nothing interesting to report on this side. Still leveling up Nimitz. Taught it Psychic, which isn't wildly powerful on a Lapras, but wild Psychics are hard enough to come by even without the challenge, and Jynx, Haunter, etc. have offense and level up fast but don't have enough staying power for me to risk a good TM on them.

Currently demolishing BIKERS with Lapras on Cycling Road. Should get me enough levels for Ice Beam, at least, and then it'll have its full moveset.

There, just reached lv. 38. Also, encountered and captured a lv. 26 Doduo in the grass. Named it Spy. Would replace Warbird if it wouldn't take so much training. Meh - Attack's not that much lower, HP/SPC are better, Speed's the same.

The Troops:
Chemical, lv. 11 (for CUTting things once I get to Fuchsia)

Congrats on your purple Heart - a fast-leveling, defensive Ground type will serve you well.
Just remember to evolve her before lv. 23 if you want Body Slam - Nidorina only gets Bite.

Day ... who knows, we've lost track of time in the heat of battle.

Spoiler:

Did my Safari duties, missed a Nidorino. Curse you, Safari Balls!
Taught Tank to Surf.
Two more gyms and a dojo fell to our wrath.
Karate Master and his underlings were the same ol' Drill as usual - Drill Peck, Drill Peck, Fly, Drill Peck, etc. Declined to accept his offer of a Fighting type as I have already obtained my gift Pokemon from Saffron (and a very useful Pokemon is she).

Koga and Sabrina were disappointingly weak. They call themselves leaders. Plague took out all of the Jugglers and Tamers in Koga's gym, knocking everything but the Sandslashes out in one hit with Hyper Fang or Body Slam.
Nimitz took on Koga himself, again OHKO'ing just about everything with Psychic, though one took Psychic and an Ice Beam.
Went to call on Sabrina and her girls.
Generator took the Slowpokes, Nimitz took the gh-gh-ghosts, Plague took the few pure Psychic Pokemon in the gym outside of Sabrina's. Generally one hit per Pokemon, though the biggest Haunter took Confuse Ray/Psychic/Ice Beam.
Since we'd made it so far through the maze, I didn't bother going back to heal before Sabrina. Used Warbird to sweep her Pokemon, one Drill Peck each took out everything, nobody else got an attack in.
No healing was used in the gym - at the end Nimitz' HP was 140/179, Plague's was 105/124, everyone else was at full health.
Dug out, healed at the Pokecenter.

Tomorrow, the world.

The Troops:
Torpedo, lv. 24 (may lv. him up and teach him Fire Blast when I get it)
Nimitz, lv. 42
Generator, lv. 43
Tank, lv. 46
Plague, lv. 47
Warbird, lv. 47

Reserve:

Spy

Casualties:
Yossarian (Mankey)
Gravediggr (Diglett)

Update:
Torpedo was nearly lost in friendly fire off the coast of Fuchsia. A lv. 10 (yes, 10) Tentacool appeared, and in an attempt to weaken it for capture Torpedo was hit with Supersonic. With a Defense stat about 20 points lower than his Attack, further eroded by Tentacool's subsequent Acid onslaught, Torpedo managed to rapidly lose all but 4 points of HP in his confusion.
Full Restore was administered, and Tentacool was mercilessly beaten to a pulpa pulp by Gyarados instead of being left alive for addition to the team.
On to Seafoam.
