I really like Windows. I think I tried Linux before when I was at school, but it was kinda of confusing. And I don't have a Mac so, Windows is my favorite one. I remember MS DOS, great times...

But I got to hand it to Windows.

Pre-Vista Windows OSs. They work with most every piece of software ever made and if they don't then there's going to be an emulator to make it so, really the only reason. Versions after 98 are largely nothing but superfluous profit ventures, in my opinion, and Vista screwed it over, so I'm keeping what I've got... and really, I have to anyway, since I still play old games and the like.

I think you can figure out which OS I like.

Though despite my now three-year old name, I am NOT a fanboy. Apple's becoming the new Microsoft in terms of business, though their OSes still remain superb not to mention the entire Hackintosh project.

Mine's Mac. Although, my laptop has both Mac and Windows, so I'm biased. The Windows/Mac debate for me always depends on how important video games are to me... I do absolutely nothing else on Windows. Never had virus issues or whatnot on my Mac, so why bother? As far as I see, the only advantage Windows has is that it's easier to make programs on there than a Mac (and it's cheaper).

Mac OS doesn't support a lot of computer games, too, so it's virtually useless for gamers.

I don't think Mac OS has DirectX 10/11 either.

Yeah, but I don't really use a computer for gaming. Mac is getting DirectX 10 I think, but whatever. I'm not saying either one's absolutely better, but for me a Mac is far more useful. More people need to work on Mac games though >_> I still use Windows like I said, just that I don't really like it :|

Yeah infinite rainbow pinwheel is fun and unexpected error messages are super useful. And I didn't know that a the mac could use directX, but that sounds plain silly because it would support a lot more games, wouldn't it? And saying more people need to make games work on a mac is silly since not everything will work on a mac like everything can work on windows. :3

I suppose I'm a member of the minority, I like the Mac OS. I don't play games outside of starcraft or warcraft, which work just as well on mac as they do windows. I do have a license and ability to use Windows whenever I want, but I rarely ever do. I've gotten by rather well for the past few years with mosty Mac OS.

I find that very hard to believe. Would you please show me your source so that I may read up on this?

---

Oh, and I use Windows, despite posting this very message from an Ubuntu machine. I want to... you know... do stuff, and have a large community, and a reasonably open operating system, and video games, and tons of software to play with.

That being said, I wouldn't mind Linux. In fact I tried setting up a dual boot twice.

The first time, it managed to screw over the graphics drivers causing a Command Prompt of death on startup. Somehow, VISTA managed to function with an admitedly screwed up interface. (What the heck? Vista, STABLE?)

Then Microsoft Support managed to find out the problem, over the phone, with relative ease. (That's just embarassing.) And gave me a simple fix, that admitedly took about 5 hours worth of copying files. It did work though. =3

The second time... it bricked my hard-drive without me even doing anything.

At that point I decided Linux was too much of a steep mountain without any guard rails for me. I want to screw around without killing my OS.

Like anything that involves strong opinions, I'm neutral.

PCs have uses, Macs have uses, and Linux has uses. It all depends on what you want out of your computer. Of course people that want to use it for lots of gaming won't like Macs. Of course people who want complete control over everything the OS does (and have the knowhow to not mess something up) will prefer Linux. I don't think any one OS is 'the best' unless you put it in terms of certain tasks, and even then it's just subjective opinion. It's like apples and oranges (no pun intended).

What is your favorite operating system. Mine is the Mac OS. I don't have a Mac computer, but I've played with it at school, and it is awesome!
I'm always stucked using Windows. I have been using this since the first day my fingers lay on a computer keyboard.
But honestly, I'm always open to try other OS just to know how they feel.

@ Yellow: look here at the very bottom of the page. Steam for Mac coming soon. It's currently still in beta testing.
Incredible...

:\

Now the question is how are they going to pull that off. It would seem to me there would be several crippling limitations in a Mac they'd have to overcome.

I guess it's a good thing though, though I have this sinking feeling I'm going to have to PK some of the inevitable loudmouth fanboys though.
