Have you ever noticed that only Team Rocket's name has nothing to do with their motive at all?
Team Magma wants more land coverage (thus will need earth's magma).
Team Aqua wants more water coverage (making an aquatic world).
Team Galactic wants to create a new universe (thus also making a new galaxy).

I think it's probably due to what ever happened between second and third generation that made the game play change so much, but still.

I kind of understand rocket. Their trying to reach there goal, whatever that is, and like a rocket they rush towards it. There also the whole Raid On the City, Knock Out, Evil Tusks (I still don't know what that means). But why don't they do that more? Instead of giving out the evil organizations motive by their name they could be a bit more vague.

Thoughts?

(Yes, I know of the other teams, I'm not including them because they aren't made by Game Freak and it's hard to compare teams that are made by different companies.)

"Blast off at the speed of light!" / "We're blasting off again!"

That's pretty much what a rocket does. It may not be their motive, but at least they have attempted to bring it into the anime. Also, Electrodes, in-game, can explode (maybe not at the time), which could be considered to be in the blast category. There's also Mewtwo, which was the Pokemon TR created (I think), which to me, has associations with space (cause it looks like an alien), which is where a rocket goes.

Though I do think that in-game, another team would have worked well, because TR seems to help out Ash & co often in the anime, making TR's purpose pointless. Then yet in-game they are this really strong team that take over major things. (Yet in reality, TR tries to steal / takeover everything.) So really, it's not how it SHOULD be.

In saying this though (since I think anime was made after the games), it's not so bad.

But basically, TR = Space, Galactic = Space, suggesting that either there will be a repeat team in B/W (aka Galatic), or another environmental type team - depending on the plotline.

What does "blasting off at the speed of light" even mean? Also the whole blasting off again thing is what happens when they lose. Is that their goal, to lose?

Also, Electrodes, in-game, can explode (maybe not at the time), which could be considered to be in the blast category.

Except none of the Rockets have Electrodes (well, except Lt. Surge but he was only a part of Team Rocket in the manga).

There's also Mewtwo, which was the Pokemon TR created (I think), which to me, has associations with space (cause it looks like an alien), which is where a rocket goes.

But it's not a alien, it's a genetically altered clone.

Besides, Team Rocket is not space themed at all. They just steal things and try to take over the world or whatever their 'vision' is.
