What is a Pokemon?

Is it an animal? Or is it a plant?
Does it always lay an egg?

The wonders of an imagination’s intention,
Yet and forever unrevealed.

But we can speculate… can we not?

Of that unreality which captivates children
With dressed up slavery and violence.

What a pokemon is
Is not a secret.

Author's Notes:

1) I made this on a whim. It does have a lot of meaning to me, but is subjective and not all will agree with me on it.

2) I am not a poet and I don't write poetry generally... I don't even like it. So it may not have a very poetry feel and I can't rhyme for peanuts.

I realise that (lol you gotta admit everyone knows they don't have to if they don't want to).

But it really just flowed out of me, I didn't intend for it to be a poem, just some writing but it kind of turned out that way.

I don't mind harsh criticism, but I understand if it might stir up strong feelings and I understand if that might be discouraged.

I think to say I dislike it is not quite honest or accurate now you mention it. I just generally never understood it, which was often frustrating in English class. Maybe where the negative connotation comes from.

But yeah, I didn't feel any pressure to write this, it just flowed out and turned into a poem by itself. Like it had a mind of its own.

*Gasp* What if it did? :cer_disbelief: Oh no, the evil, mutant, mind controlling slugs of planet Pogcurry have come to destroy us all! :cer_eek:
Why does everybody hate Joey? There are far more annoying people out there, like Liz the Picknicker ["Listen, listen! My Nidoran Female is so pretty... and... giggle... so awesome... yes... OMG I'm so sorry I just waisted half your day! See Ya!"] and Irwin the Juggler ["Hearing about your escapades rocks my soul. It sure does!"].

Wow! I really liked the latter half of your poem. That was excellent. And like the others said, If you don't like writing poetry, you don't have to.

BTW, I always considered Pokemon to be animals but with 3 more characteristics which I call "The Laws of Pokemon Physiology":

1. Pokemon have the ability to be changed from physical form to energy. The energy can be compacted through many different means. This energy is the same that gives them their elemental powers.

2. Pokemon have the ability to switch back and forth from human-like intelligence to animalistic instincts at any given point.

3. Despite Law number 2, Pokemon ALWAYS have human emotions.
