I agree that the VS. Seeker was the best item in the game (screw the bike!) but I felt Platinum was a worse letdown than this. Besides, did you see the wind? The moving grass? The intro pictures?

The wind? The moving grass? The intro pictures? The low levels? The weird Pokedex? All the Kanto Pokemon? The tiny region? The empty plot-less secondary region? All the Johto Pokem- oh wait. There's hardly any.

Okay, I understood your sarcasm after the pictures. It's still a good game, I'm staying at that. I just need a new DS. I broke it.

There were a few things I didn't like about HGSS. Don't get me wrong, it was a very great game, but some things I didn't like.

1-Pokemon are seriously underleveled. That's why I traded over from D/P/Pt to get pokemon that get boosted exp, and by the time the E4 came my pokemon were all lv45. But I didn't like high leveled bosses, and no where to train. The highest leveled pokemon were at Mt. Silver at lv45. And that was at the end of the game.

2-Kanto was a mess. The towns were right next to each other, with little trainers. There was no storyline in kanto, no team rocket, it was just..plain. And the pokemon there were like LV7, which is ridiculous compared to D/P/Pt's battle zone.

3-This is minor, but I hated flying from kanto to johto. Why do I have to stop at victory road to fly to the different regions?

I would use platinum if it wasn't for the touch screen enhancements, graphics update, and the pokemon that follow you. The pokedex and bag also look much better.

hg/ss all the way. the johto games are the best of them all. period. and they did an awesome job with the remake of it. my fav :)

I never tried platinum though so I can't compare. I didn't want to try platinum 'cause diamond was such a fail. everyone agrees with me though and says platinum was way better so I might get the rom and try it

I haven't played Platinum yet, but HG/SS are everything I hoped they would be, and more. (Read: They changed Kanto so it's not boring anymore)

It all depends, If you were around for Gold and Silver then HGSS was amazing, if not then it seemed kinda blah

I disagree, i was around for gold and silver and gold is still one of my favorites. Heart gold and soul silver were horrible remakes. It had such a huge hype leading up to it and it was just a big let down. They took out all the nostalgic parts and a lot of things just seemed forced. For example, Mt. Silver, you climb all the way up there battle red, hes got no unique music like before, no battle strategy he just fights you with high levels and when you beat him it ends.

Take the characters:
1. In gsc, the main character had a devilish grin, tree trunk legs, a cool watch, and a backpack. Now he has a smile with dimples, hes wearing capris, and he has a purse.
2. In Crystal, the Girl character had blue hair, a cool hat, unique appearance, actually looked like a trainer. In HGSS she has some rediculous hat, overalls, and a bag that looks like it holds a sleeping bag.

The game play. They messed up Kanto horribly. I cant even describe how bad it was. Levels. You beat jhoto and get to level 40. Then they expect you to get to 60's by fighting maybe ten trainers in all? rubbish.

I liked both SS and Diamond that I have. I wish I had Platinum though, but Soul Silver is currently my favorite pokemon game. Mostly because you can interact with your partner pokemon <3

No! HG/SS is already better than B/W, just because Pokemon can follow you.

Haven't thought about like that. I played SS before Platinum, and i thought the level in Platinum were to high. =p But must agree with you Chaos Rush.

Platinum was a lot more fun until I beaten the League. HGSS was a lot longer and could had more 'team rocket' even if it was a remake.

For you guys saying Mt Silver's Pokemon only went to lvl 45 are wrong go on the outside and they'll go into the low 50's. Though Cerulean cave should have been higher in level.

I love HG and SS, they definitely were not a let down for me. Platinum was still good, but I think HG and SS were better.

HG and SS was far from being considered a let down for me. With the enhanced graphics since the Second Generation and the added development to the game, it pretty much defines a well remake of Gold, Silver, and Crystal all together. Is it better than Platinum? No, but Platinum wasn't bad either.

I like HGSS but one thing... Thats how they did such a non-challenging part after the elite 4. Although it is nice to have more, I would like more quality to be put into the addition

I know that the point of partner games like HG/SS is that you have to trade them over to get all the pokèmon... but I like it when you can have both butterfree and beedrill in the same game.
This is why Yellow is my favourite game. If they make a yellow remake, it would be amazing.

Otherwise, SS was not a let down. I loved talking to my lead pokèmon. (:

I was impressed by the whole Partner Pokemon idea at first but after awhile it became annoying pretty fast, also the whole extremely low leveled pokemon. I hated that the fact that Lances main Dragonite was only lv.50,and how Kanto was almost pointless no real story what so ever.I acctually found myself playing my platinum more after I got Soul Silver due to I had more stuff to do on it after beating Red on SS.I did enjoy being able to trade over the legendary beasts,Lugia and Ho-oh over to my Plat. So the main Idea of all this post is SS was sort of a let down all that hype and then it fell flat for me.

A let down? I think not! I was happy that when HG/SS was announced that I would be able to relive one of my favorite childhood games but with better graphics and new features! So I really can't say this is a let down, and it should be great for the newer generation that never got the chance to play such a great game in the past.

First off, I think you need to be realize a couple of things

First, WHY ARE THERE SO MANY KANTO POKEMON? Becuase the original Johto Dex was 2/3rds KANTO POKEMON. And many are evolutions of KANTO pokemon. Johto was designed on a generation that was based on RBY and acting partly as an homage to them.

Secondly, the open-ended part after Morty's gym, that was so that everyone has a different experience than their buddy. Yes, most people go to the left to Olivine and Cianwood, but there are a few who go to mahogany. And that's why the levels are low over there: To encourage players to explore new paths in the game.

About the Levels in general: yeah, their low. Kanto's are low because it preserves continuity. Those levels are identical to RBY,FRLG. Those level are how its always been and thats how they;ll always be on those routes. In Johto? Yeah, I think Route 27/26 should have had higher levels for pre-elite 4 training, but it made it harder. Plus if the levels were higher, once you reached Red, he'd seem easy. The levels are low so that you are grossly underleveled when you face him. It supposed to be him overwhelming you. If your level 80 like him, hes way to easy.

Yes, the VS. Seeker would have been nice, but again it adds to the "You're underleveled when you face Red" deal. It's supposed to make you think about training more. The VS. Seeker really spoiled this fandom on leveling. I've been doing this since RBY, and I can remember not having one to level up and it was so much harder. No offense, but I applaud Game Freak on this one, because game difficulty has gone down and lazy wins have gone up.
