Today was one hell of a fight/training. And Bidoof really saved me; I couldn’t have done any of this without him.

Water MonoType Challenge #3

Spoiler:

Once I had beaten Mars, I headed north to Eterna Forest. I fought a couple of trainers, many with Roselia and Pachirisu, which was great practise against types I’ll have trouble with later. I did find someone else with a Piplup, which was fun.

Soon I’d entered Eterna Forest, and ran into a girl called Cheryl. She went on about Team Galactic, who have been doing bad things to Pokémon. My first thoughts were that this gang were the ones I had been fighting earlier, but I’ll just have to wait ‘till later to find out. Anyway, we teamed up to head through the Forest, and I was hoping to find another Water-Type, but I did not. I can’t say that it was a total waste. Cheryl healed all of my Pokémon with her Chansey, and she gave me a Soothe Bell. Once I’d left the forest and me and Cheryl had parted ways, I battled a few Fishermen, and something amazing happened.

Bidoof began to change form, it had evolved! My shiny new Bibarel was soon joined by Piplup, who evolved into a Prinplup. Once I’d entered Eterna city, I did some sightseeing, and ran into Ike (Again). We saw a statue of a powerful Pokémon, and we saw the man from the lake again. He seemed to be talking to himself again, and then left, so we headed back. Ike ran off, and I met a girl who was called Cynthia. She noticed my Pokedex, and gave me the Cut HM, then said to hello to Prof. Rowan for her.

I thought about heading to the Gym, but found out it was a Grass gym, so I took some time off to train, a lot! So I’d headed to the Gym, who was led by Gardenia, who made me challenge all the apprentices at before fighting her. I didn’t argue, I preferred to fight them for extra training.
Soon I’d beaten them and crossed this weird flower-clock thing.

And challenged her, but I won’t spare the details, let’s just say I lost. So I headed to train even more, until my Pokémon were all Lv23, which should have been more than enough. Luckily, it was.

xxx
Rory vs. Gardenia

Bibarel vs. Turtwig

My knowledge of fighting her earlier had shown that Bibarel was my best bet against Turtwig. I began with DefenseCurl, but she countered with Reflect. It didn’t matter, as I followed up with Rollout. It started weak, but it would get stronger. Turtwig used SunnyDay, but I didn’t intend on using Water-Type moves here. Rollout hit again for more damage, and Turtwig used RazorLeaf, which was weakened by DefenseCurl, and was terribly weak. The next Rollout knocked it out.

Bibarel vs. Cherim

This was easy, as Bibarel’s improved speed, increased Rollout damage and the loss of Reflect support knocked it out nice and easy.

Bibarel vs. Roserade

This was where I began worrying. Bibarel’s kill-streak couldn’t last Gardenia’s strongest Pokémon could it? Well, Roserade was faster, and used MagicalLeaf. Bibarel’s health toppled down to around 3 health, but now it’s his turn. Rollout had become painfully powerful, and knocked Roserade straight out of the park. Anyone who says Bibarel is just another VendorCrap-Pokémon is on their way to a HyperFang in the face.

Result – Win

xxx

I’m currently in the Pokémon centre on a quick heal up before we check out the Galactic building at the north of Eterna. Something’s definatly wrong about that place, and I intend to find out what…

I beat Giovanni, and the last Bruno Rival fight (the next fight is the champion Bruno), and that's about it. My team hasn't changed at all since last update, outside of a few level ups. I plan to grind up to level 50 and catch a Tauros before going into the E4.

West, on a plane bound west
I see her stretching out below
Land, blessed mother land
The place where I was born

Scars, she’s got her scars
Sometimes it starts to worry me
Cause lose, I don’t want to lose
Sight of who we are

From the mountains high
To the wave-crashed coast
There’s a way to find
Better days I know

It’s been a long hard ride
Got a ways to go

Today was kinda fun, although not a huge amount happened… Sort of.

Water MonoType Challenge #4

Spoiler:

I slashed through the barricade of trees guarding the Eterna Building, and slid through the doors, hopefully unnoticed. I wasn’t, a grunt ran up to me, and began talking. It turned out, it was Looker in disguise. I really thought he was a Galactic grunt… After battling a few grunts, I began to learn their fighting style, and the fights became easier and easier. I soon hit the top of the building, and met another higher member of TG. Saturn or something, but she was threatening to steal the Pokémon of Eterna City. Not if I could help it.

xxx
Rory vs. Saturn

Shellos vs. Zubat
Another one? It was more of a problem than I thought it would be, but Shellos did her best. I started off with a RainDance to give Shellos a boost. Afterwards, I repeated WaterPulse, which eventually subdued the Poison-Type.

Psyduck vs. Skuntank
I swapped out Shellos for Psyduck, to give Shellos a good rest. Stunky began to use Poison gas, but to my surprise Psyduck was faster with a WaterPulse. Fortunately PoisonGas missed, so I countered with Disable, I couldn’t risk Psyduck being poisoned since I have nothing to cure it with. I tested Skuntank’s defences with a FurySwipes, which did more damage than expected. But WaterPulse did more damage, so a repeated WaterPulse took it down with minimal effort.

Result – Win

xxx

Soon Saturn ran off, leaving the Pokémon she’d kidnapped to hurry back home. Another man who’d been held captive said to meet him at the BikeShop for a reward for saving him. I was hesitant at first, but he seemed grateful. I headed there and the man gave me my very own bike (Anyone else see that coming?) Anyway, I headed south across the bike path, fighting the occasional Trainer. Until I jumped off, and went east, at which I came across a cave. Mt. Coronet, a hotspot for magnetic activity. I thought about catching a Nosepass, but passed, they’re so damn rare!

Eventually I came to HeartHome city, at which a Buneary came bounding at me and knocked me over. Its trainer soon came and apologized, and I heard her mention that she worked at the Contest hall. I thought I could check it out, and ran into someone I didn’t expect to see. My mom!

Turns out she was taking a small vacation here, but I was kind of annoyed that she beat me to Hearthome. But I guess that it was all the training I had been doing! After a little training, I took the Hearthome Gym, which specialises in Ghost-Types. Bibarel would excel here, due to its part Normal typing, so I began with my other Pokémon, and saved Bibarel for her strongest Pokémon.

xxx
Rory vs. Fantina

Shellos vs. Duskull
I tried the same tactic with Saturn’s Zubat. Set up RainDance, and then spam WaterPulse. It worked with minimal injuries.

Shellos vs. Mismagius
This was short lived; two Magical leaves with a WaterPulse in the middle took Shellos out of the fight.

Prinplup vs. Mismagius
I hadn’t used Prinplup in a while, and the lack of training showed. I pulled off a couple of Bubblebeams, lowering the foes speed (And health) to a pitiful level, but a final Magical Leaf took out Prinplup

Bibarel vs. Mismagis
Take a guess what happened here, nope. I didn’t use Rollout; I went for a WaterGun which took out the weakened Mismagius.

Bibarel vs. Haunter
This wasn’t too difficult. The only moves that Haunter used were ShadowBall and SuckerPunch, so I used DefenseCurl repeatedly, making SuckerPunch painfully weak. After a couple of Rollouts, it was down.

Result – Win

xxx

I left soon after, with my shiny new Relic Badge. I healed up, then ran into my rival Ike, and I was thrown straight into a battle…

xxx
Rory vs. Ike

Shellos vs. Staravia
Staravia was overly speedy, added to the overuse of DoubleTeam made it a powerful foe. But another RainDance, WaterPulse made decent work of it, but the evasiveness was too much, making Shellos fall to another hit.

Psyduck vs. Staravia
If only Psyduck could fly… Anyway, another WaterPulse took it down (I use WaterPulse too much, don’t I?)

Prinplup vs. Grotle
Déjà vu, much? Anyway, a couple of Pecks later and Grotle was down, even if it did cause some decent damage against Prinplup

Prinplup vs. Ponyta
Much the same, except Bubblebeam was used, and Prinplup kept most of its health.

Prinplup vs. Buizel
This was a little arkward, as the foe repeated Pursuit. I followed up with a Bide, but was taken out before it was countered.

Psyduck vs. Buizel
Confusion, need I say more?

Result – Win

xxx

He ran off in the same state he started off as, and I continued east. Running into a couple of trainers, I met a Fisherman, who leant me his GoodRod. I took my chance and began fishing, but to no avail. I fished for hours (Minutes), but found nothing more than a couple of Magikarp. I went north, into a quaint little spot called Solaceon Town. But much like Floroma, there was little of interest here. Except for a Defog HM which I managed to grab.

I continued north, fighting a ton of trainers, and something very unexpected. An evolution, Shellos this time, and I was overjoyed about my new Gastrodon.

At this point I’m very nearly at Veilstone, my next Gym stop. And I’m expect one hell of a fight, but I have Psyduck, my resident Psycho!

Alrighty. Back in school, with some very hard classes this year so gametime will be very limited if I wanna keep my grades up, plus Cross Country keeps me busy too. Haven't done much, but beat Red after some grinding in Johto

Update Time:
-Grinded up to the low 60s for Red. He was much easier this time around :)
-Recap of battle for the fun of it...
Pikachu was EQ'd with ease from Muscle. Thanks dude.
Then he was a dick and sent out Espeon who Psycic'd the crap out of my team like usual. However Nancy went beastmode and could take a Psychic miraculously with like 5 HP left. So after getting a body slam paralyze in, I surfed and stalled with full retore recovery til Espeon was gone from a surf crit. Thank you.
Then he sent out Venasaur, who sunny day'd and tried to solarbeam the crap out of my team. The prick was suprisingly resiliant to Potassium's fire punches and Nancy's ice punches too. Once he was gone, he sent out Snorlax who Muscles ko'd with one Low Kick. Then he sent out Charizard, and Nancy surfed him up too. Then came Blastoise, which sent me into some deja vu...because the final battle in FireRed was my Poliwrath versus Blastoise too. Found that funny :p. So that was it, and boom boom Johto was successfully completed. Now I'll show my End Team with comments about each guy I suppose...

End Team:

Muscles (Machoke) Level 64
-Low Kick
-Strength
-Earthquake
-Cross Chop

Muscles was a boss this runthrough. He was a suprisingly resiliant motha trucka, who came in handy whenever I needed him most, with a good low kick or strength crit.

Protein (Hitmontop) Lv 64
-Hidden Power (Grass, 67 power)
-Dizzy Punch
-Triple Kick
-Dig

Protein was initially hard to train as a Tyrogue, but when I discovered the power of dizzy punch life got easier. Then he evolved into a Hitmontop, even though I wanted a Hitmonlee, so I was disappointed. But I loaded him up with some nice TMs (the best was Dig) and he really started kickin butt, and handling electric, steel, and fire types magnificently when necessary

Nancy (Poliwrath) Lv 66
-Surf
-Hypnosis
-Ice Punch
-Body Slam

Ahhh, Nancy. My first team member. Definitely the team MVP, I guess poliwraths are just awesome. She did most of the critical butt-kicking in the tight battles or battles that certainly could have ended up disastrous had she not been a beast. Best examples are how she pretty much single-handedly owned Lance by her lonesome, Ice Punching and Surfing down everything in sight with OHKOs. Then she was the resiliant monster against Red, who had she not been able to take a Psychic w/out dying, I would not have beaten. Sure hope there are poliwags in Hoenn and Sinnoh, but I don't think there are. Its a darn shame, considering the rape-age Poliwraths seem to do on my team :(

Potassium (Hitmonchan) Lv 65
-Mega Punch
-Thunder Punch
-Mach Punch
-Fire Punch

Potassium, named under the same nutritional theme as Protein, was more of just a member for the sake of having 4 guys on my team, but he ended up being much more than that. Wayy better than Muhammed (my Hitmonchan in my Kanto run), cuz he could take a hit or two well. His diversity in types of powerful attacks were handy as well, Mach Punch raped everything, and when I ran out of T-punches and Mach punches, his Mega Punch hit almost everytime and could OHKO several weak guys, plus just seemed to attract crits. Never a bad thing. So Potassium came in suprising use this run.

SupaSlave (Suicune) Lv 40
...Just my water move/cut slave. I was happy to see that SupaSlave could learn all those HMs (mostly Cut), plus s/he was a good staller to take a hit or two while I healed.

FlySlave (Noctowl) Lv 16
What can I say bout FlySlave? Got me where I needed to be, plus served as good bantha fodder in tough battles so I could heal up. A very good slave indeed.

And...this concludes my Johto Run. I'll be downloading Ruby or Emerald in due time to start Hoenn, but updates will be sketchy since I don't have much time. Oh well. Halfway done with the UMC Fighting, we got this.
Currently destroying...

UMC Normals Kanto Compleeeeeeeete

I've really enjoyed using Normal types this run. Anyway now to the Elite 4.

Lorelie
Mage's Thunderbolt came in really helpful here, considering the large amount of water types on her team. Snoozer took out Jynx.

Bruno
Mage once again saves the day against his onix's with Solarbeams and Bubblebeams. Other than that Wingblade came in really handy.

Agatha
Fang and Snoozer came in really handy with Dig and Earthquake.

Lance
He was pretty tough, but not too bad. Mage took out his Gyarados, and Snoozer and Fang took out about everything else. Wingblade's Toxic came in REALLY handy against Dragonite.

Bruno (Rival/Champ)
Mage took out half his team, the rest was pretty easy. I ran into some trouble with his Blastoise, who full restored just as he was about to die. I eventually took him out though.

Team
Mage: Clefable

level 55
Thunderbolt
Psychic
Solar Beam
Bubblebeam

Really helped out a ton, and the highest level pokemon on my team.

Fang: Raticate

level 51
Hyper Fang
Double Edge
Skull Bash
Dig

Wingblade: Pidgeot

level 49
Toxic
Sand Attack
Quick Attack
Fly

It's only real purpose was Bruno and Exeggutor, plus it's Toxic really helped against Lance's Dragonite. It could also take quite a few hits.

Snoozer: Snorlax

level 47
Body Slam
Fire Blast
Earthquake
Submission
The bulky dude of my team, that bulk really came in handy. It could take even more hits than Pidgeot, and was a great help against whatever I needed it to go up against, despite being the lowest level on my team.

And that's it! On to Johto!

Hey just wanted to jump in and say that I've beaten the elite four with my Bug Mono Team in Emerald. =) I'm sorry that I don't have a huge update for it since I didn't keep any notes this time around since I got lost in where to post the update...

I can however, give you a small summary for each elite four + Champion battle.

VS Sidney:.
Nothing troublesome. Hero took care of pretty much every dark type with the help of Prayer from time to time.

VS Phoebe:.

Had some close calls but Hero could take care of it with HP Ghost.

VS Glacia:.
Bulk Up and then Brick Break away with Hero...

VS Drake:.
This battle was hell. Not only did the first pokemon he have, knowing Rock Tomb, meaning even if I managed to set up. I would be so slow to actually do something.
Ancient was my main force in this battle. Dealing Super Effective Damage against Altaria and Salamence. Also Kingdra was taken down by Silent because it kept switching out every time I sent in Silent against it so when it was the last standing I sent out Silent for the kill.

VS Wallace:.

This battle was easy. The only two pokémon to actually be able to kill Silent was Tentacruel and Milotic. I had a Pecha Berry on Silent to get rid of one toxic. Against Luvdisc I Swords Danced up to max and she killed everything in sight. Silent got intoxicated by Tentacruel but thanks to its berry it wasn't too much of a deal.
Last pokémon Wallace sent out was his Milotic. Luckily or not with +6 boosted in attack + Shadow Ball. Silent killed Milotic in one hit.

.:Champions:.
Prayer(Pinsir), Hero(Heracross), Destiny(Dustox), Fate(Beautifly), Ancient(Armaldo), Silent(Shedinja).
.:Currently Working On:.

I started the game and called myself Red. I chose Charmander as my starter because it evolves into the Fire/Flying type Charizard and beat Blue. I caught a Pidgey on Route 1 (They look so cute in Red and Blue with their eyes) and a Caterpie in Viridian Forest. I defeated Blue again and Caterpie evolved into Metapod and then into Butterfree. Charmander also evolved. I then beat Brock easily. I am currently in front of Mt Moon.

abandoning my nuzlocke challenge, i will do a water mono on Platinum
West, on a plane bound west
I see her stretching out below
Land, blessed mother land
The place where I was born

Scars, she’s got her scars
Sometimes it starts to worry me
Cause lose, I don’t want to lose
Sight of who we are

From the mountains high
To the wave-crashed coast
There’s a way to find
Better days I know

It’s been a long hard ride
Got a ways to go
This is still the place
That we all call home
