I'm working on preparing my team for Cynthia and trying to decide whether or not I should trade my Magmar (to evolve him) and train him or not. (I think I'll check Bulbapedia for his moveset). So, anyway, my next update will probably be very delayed.

Steel UMC Update!!

So many levels have passed since my last update.. Starting from pastoria.. I got fed up with the amount of exp i was getting from the pokemon at that area, so i taught Mantis thief, and went chansey hunting. After about luckily three chanseys, i found a lucky egg. It didn't take long to level up after that. I got all of my pokes to level 40 and challenged Crasher Wake. I beat him easily, not sure with who, but it was fast. I met up with my rival, and then team galactic did something with a bomb.. then i chased the member down and smashed him. Cynthia found me and gave me a secret potion to move the migraine induced psyducks. After i moved them, i made my way to the ruins thingy, where i found a galactic member scoping the ruins. I beat him real fast, then cyrus showed up. I had to show him whos boss, then i got surf, taught it to penguin, and surfed to canalave. i went to iron island and trained with riley until my pokes were at level 50. It only took a few hours, thanks to lucky egg. I beat the galactic members, killing his lucario in the process, and i pass on the rilou egg. Right as i make it back to the city, i challenge the gym. I had penguin spam surf and one hit all of his pokemon. easiest gym. I find my rival, go through the dialogue, and i fly to lake valor. I beat team galactic and fly back to twinleaf to save dawn since she can't handle them.. Train took Mars out single handedly. I made my way to snowpoint city, finding the hm rock climb. After arriving, i begin to grind.

Final Steel UMC update

Had nothing to do today, so i played platinum and finished it all..

I ended up just fighting Candice with Mantis and destroying her with his metal claw. I caught a bibarrel and taught it the necessary hm's. Go to the lake, listen to my rival cry, then fly to oreburgh. i enter the mountain and start my agonizing hike.. After a while, i make it to the top. I beat Mars and jupiter(and my rival..) with penguins surf. then cyrus opens the portal, i follow with cynthia, beat cyrus and giratina and fly to twinleaf. All my pokes are at 55 or higher at this point. i get a motivational speech, then i go to sunnyshore and fight volkner. only needed to use Trains double-edge for most of it. I go down, get waterfall from jasmine, teach it to penguin, and i make it to victory road. Used max repels to avoid annoying encounters. After getting liberty to level 60, my game freezes, then i had to redo some training.. annoying. Well, i made it to the league at 60, stomped on my rival, and challenged the masters,

Aaron, drill pecked almost all of his pokemon

Bertha, surfed all

Flint.. surf

Lucian, X-Scissor and surf

Cynthia.. Every move in my arsenal.. except for steelix since he died in 2 shots.. Hate her garchomp..

My Final Team

Penguin/Empoleon

Level 65

-Metal Claw
-Waterfall
-Surf
-Drill Peck

Used him for every gym and all of the elite four.. MVP all around

Train/Steelix

Level 60

-Iron Tail
-Crunch
-Double-Edge
-Dragon Breath

He was basically used as a shield. Whenever my HM slaves were dead, i sent him out to heal my other pokes. I did use him for a couple of gyms, though

Liberty/Bronzong

Level 60

-Faint Attack
-Toxic
-Extrasensory
-Confuse Ray

It was good throughout most of the game. Not the best, but it helped me out of some tight spaces.

Mantis/Scizor

Level 62

-Iron Head
-Night Slash
-Swords Dance
-X-Scissor

He destroyed everything. If he even had one swords dance up, he could basically one hit anything.

Platinums excruciating to play through.. 2 more left, but i won't start till i caught a regigas. Dragon will be my next one.. When can you catch the first dragon type on platinum?

Ultimate Fire Challenge, Platinum, Final update finally!
Spoiler:
Since I can't remember exactly where I left off, I'm not going to do a "formal" update for my last two badges. But I did everything involving Team Galatic, the Distortion World (though it's optional, the Boss gives mad EXP, so I went for it), and the last two towns before the Pokemon League. I collected my 7th and 8th badge by extension and trained a bit. Now, for the "formal" update.
-Tried to beat the Elite Four but failed miserably against Cynthia the first 9 or so times.
-Decided my team needed training, so went to train.
-Regretted never training my Magmar, so traded him with a Magmarizer to evolve him, got a Magmortar (lvl 49 or something) and began grinding.
-Grinded Magmortar to Lvl 70.
-Started training Infernape, too.
-The plan was to get my entire team to Lvl 70, but I got really, really, really bored... so, I stopped training Infernape at Lvl 64 and decided to try at least ONE more time before training the entire team to 70.
-Entered the Elite 4 and hoped for the best.
-Aaron: Easy peasy. With a team full of fire Pokemon on my side, Aaron was no match for me. I one hit most of his team with a combination of my Magmortar and Infernape and to take down the Drapion (which lacks a weakness to fire), I used my Houndoom and Infernape. Either way, this battle was pretty embarrassing for poor little Aaron.
-Bertha: Oh, how I loathe her. She is the bane of any Electric or Fire monotype challengers existence. Almost every Pokemon on her team knows Earthquake and that can be a pain. But, alas, I stocked up on Revives and Hyper Potions, so I was ready. I managed to knock out Whiscash in one hit with my Infernapes Close Combat, got Gliscor down with a bunch of revives and my Magmortar, took Hippowdon down using revives and my entire team whenever they could get an attack in, got Golem with Earthquake, and Rhyperior with Close Combat. It was a tough battle and she gave me a run for my money, but I won in the end.
-Flint: With Earthquake this time 'round, he was no trouble at all. I hit most of his team with Magmortar's Earthquake, but Rapidash got a chance to shine against his Flareon.
-Lucian: This was Houndoom's chance to shine. For the most part. I took down half of this team with my Houndoom's Crunch. The other half with Infernape's Shadow Claw.
-Cynthia: The other bane of the fire monotype users existence. Cynthia. She was a bit of a problem. (Note: More than a bit.) At the very beginning, I buffed my Houndoom up with two X Attacks and a Dire Hit and held my breath. I crit hit Spiritomb with Crunch on my first attack. Then came Milotic... which was crit hit with Thunder Fang! (Basically, I got lucky!) Garchomp was horrible to get past. I used up half of my revives during it alone. But once it was down to having to use Giga Impact, I kept attacking with Close Combat and managed to take him down. Togekiss wasn't much of a problem this time around, I used Hyper Beam and got her down easily. Lucario went down with Earthquake, but it was a close call. When I got to Roserade, I let out a sigh of relief and one hit it with Flamethrower.
-I am now the champion of Sinnoh.

Final Team:

Lvl 61
Bounce|Sunny Day|Flare Blitz|Fire Blast

Lvl 61
Thunder Fang|Fire Blast|Crunch|Flamethrower

Lvl 65
Shadow Claw|Dig|Close Combat|Flare Blitz

Lvl 72
Earthquake|Fire Blast|Flamethrower|Hyper Beam

End Commentary: That was exhausting. The run through of Sinnoh was very easy... until I got to the Elite Four. Then, they showed me what a real challenge is all about. Houndoom was, once again, one of my favorites... but he failed me throughout most of the Elite Four. Rapidash, also, did exceedingly well until I reached the Pokemon League. Magmortar was a last minute addition, but she didn't disappoint me regardless. Infernape... has never been one of my favorite fire Pokemon and I remember why now. He failed me through a lot of the league, too. (Which is why I eventually broke down and decided on adding a fourth to my team.) I feel a bit worn out now, but I'm SO close to being done... I will be heading to Unova tonight. Also, the levels of my Pokemon are bothering me. They're all over the place. xD

Continuing my Poison UMC...

Update #1 on Platinum.

Name: Roman
Rival: Gorman
Starter: Turtwig
  • After the initial stuff, I caught Count the Zubat in Lost Cave, then proceeded to Oreburgh City.
  • Grinded Count up to L18, then barely beat Roark thanks to confuse and flinch hax (lost several times).
  • Beat Mars in the Windworks thanks to Pluck healing with Sitrus Berry.
  • Count evolved into Golbat soon afterwards.
  • Crushed Gardenia once I got to Eterna City, then got Cut.
  • Caught Ghost the Gastly in the Old Chateau.
  • With these two Pokemon, I beat Wayward Cave and stuff. Ghost evolved into Haunter.
  • Got to Hearthome, then crushed all the trainers in the gym with Ghost's Shadow Punch.
  • Ghost beat Fantina with Shadow Punch as well - he barely survived Shadow Ball to 2HKO Mismagius, and Duskull and Haunter were OHKOs.
  • Ghost and Count (who soon evolved into Crobat) got seriously overleveled by the time I reached Veilstone, and after I made a vitamin pit stop, I headed to the gym.
  • Count OHKOed all the trainers with Pluck, then crushed Maylene as well - Meditite and Machoke were OHKOed, and Lucario was 2HKOed.
  • Got Fly, and am currently on my way to Pastoria City.

Ultimate Fire Challenge - Unova

Spoiler:
I actually started this a few days ago, but have been too lazy (and involved in the game...) to update. So, this will be... cut as short as possible. xD

-Started my journey, named self Lloyd as per usual.
-Chose Tepig as my starter. Did all the beginning stuff. Started journey.
From there, I've done so much I figured I'd just post the badges I've collected. (*cough* all of them *cough*) to spare everyone the boring plot stuff (because there's a LOT of it in Unova) that no one will read anyway. xD

-Stiaton Gym; I was unsure about this one! Being that I would have to rely on my starter and I knew that the leader would use my starters weakness... I was a bit worried, I'll admit. So, I did some training in the Dreamyard and the route adjacent to the city and hoped for the best. Well, I got lucky and got the badge first try. My Tepig was down to hardly any HP, but I pulled a win and collected the badge.
-Nacrene Gym; By this point, my Tepig had evolved. So, this was a very easy win. I did get a bit low on health, but it was nothing that a few potions didn't fix. Lenora wasn't a challenge at all.
-Castelia Gym; Before challenging Burgh, I headed to the desert and caught a Darumaka. I trained it for a bit and then headed to the gym. Burgh was easy and was no match at all for my fire type moves. I collected my badge and headed on my way.
-Nimbasa Gym; Elesa's Zebstrika proved a bit of a problem, but I managed to pull a win, nevertheless. Her other Pokemon weren't much of a problem.
-Driftveil Gym; I took advantage of the Fighting weakness in two of his three and those two went down quite easily. The Palpitoad gave me the biggest problem, but it wasn't anything my Pokemon couldn't handle.
-Mistralton Gym; I caught a Litwick before challenging Skyla and trained said Litwick a bit beforehand, as well. Entered the gym, not sure how this battle would turn out. I had to use a few potions, but I managed to beat her. All my Pokemon got a chance to shine for this one.
-Collected my Larvesta egg and explored via surfing before progressing. Did this for a bit to take a small break from the gyms and the plots. (Using Tympole as my HM slave.)
-Icirrus Gym; Probably the easiest one for me in all of Unova. Brycen pretty much went down without a fight at all.
-Opelucid Gym; My egg hatched on the way to Opelucid and thus, my Larvesta endured a LOT of training. (With the new EXP system and my Lucky Egg, though, he caught up fast and was at about the right level by the time I reached the league.) Anyway. Opelucid was difficult. With the resistance to so many of my moves, dragons are hard to take down. So, naturally, I struggled a bit. Haxorus proved the biggest problem. But with lots of potions, revives, and dedication... I managed a win.
-The last battle with Cheren was a pain, too. D:
-Thus, I made my way through Victory Road.
-Arrived at the Pokemon League.
-Shauntal; With my trusty Chandelure, she wasn't much of a problem at all. Her Chandelure did knock mine out once, but I had a bunch of revives so was prepared for that possibility. I revived and took down hers and continued on my merry way.
-Grimsley; With Darmanitan and Larvesta on my side, he went down easily, too. Bug Bite on his Liepard, Superpower on Scrafty and Krookodile, Fire Blast on Bisharp.
-Caitlin; With Chandelure, she was embarrassingly easy. Her Musharna was the only real problem. It took a couple Shadow Balls to get Musharna down... and for that reason, Caitlin had a couple chances to heal. But I managed to get the Pokemon down and continued.
-Marshal; Saved him for last. He was my biggest problem. He knocked out two of my Pokemon and I had to heal up. I mostly used Chandelure, but the rock moves got her down a few times. Revives saved me, though, and I managed to beat him using repetitive Shadow Balls.
-Currently in Team Plasma's castle. ~

Current Team:

Lvl 50
Ember|Flame Charge|Fire Blast|Bug Bite

Lvl 52
Dig|Fire Blast|Superpower|Hammer Arm

Lvl 52
Scald|Flamethrower|Heat Crash|Rock Smash

Lvl 55
Shadow Ball|Flame Burst|Inferno|Hex

And I didn't get pics of me and the E4... so here's a pic of me in the castle. >.>

Note; I was a bit worried about Unova... since this was my first time using most of these Pokemon... but I have definitely not been disappointed! The Fire Pokemon of Unova are lacking in certain stats, but they make up for it in other stats so at times, I don't even notice the lack. Chandelure is surprisingly great for a Ghost/Fire type and she has been my favorite this time around. Hopefully, I'll have the final update within the next two-three days.

quick question, has anyone beaten the fire monotype challenge in any sinnoh game
I went through Sinnoh. It was on Platinum... so, there were more fire Pokemon available. But, nevertheless, the league is a pain for Fire types in Sinnoh. It is possible, though.

Update #2 on Platinum.
  • Reached Pastoria, caught Raphaela the Croagunk, then beat Wake.
  • Went up to Celestic Town and beat Cyrus, then got Surf and caught Stinger the Tentacool.
  • While training with Surf, Raphaela and Stinger evolved into Toxicroak and Tentacruel.
  • Eventually got to Canalave City and did Iron Island, then beat Byron easily with Stinger (Surf).
  • Beat Saturn and Mrs at the lakes, and I evolved Ghost into Gengar.
  • Trudged up to Snowpoint City and beat Candice with Raphael (Brick Break) and Ghost (Shadow Ball).
  • Currently saved outside Snowpoint City.

Fire Type UMC - Blue Final Update
Ok, biiig update.
-After beating Sabrina and all that Jazz, I flew back to Pallet Town, then surfed down to Cinnabar Island.
-Went to Pokemon Mansion, where I caught a Magmar, whom I named Vesuvius. I promptly taught him Psychic and Psywave, so he didn't suck so much. I then zipped down and got the secret key, dug back to the pokemon center and healed, then trained my pokemon for the battle with Blaine.
-Blaine was actually tons easier than I thought, considering his resistance to most of my good moves. Firestorm pretty much took center stage again, with Earthquake and Slash destroying what Vesuvius' Psychic couldn't (AKA, most of it :P). after receiving Fire Blast, I promptly taught it to Flaria who has the best Special Attack in my team.
-I then flew back to Viridian City, to beat Giovanni for the third time, which was, again, far easier than I though. After spending all that time training, Earthquake and Psychic did most of the work again.
-And so, with my Earthbadge firmly in hand, and with Vesuvius having learnt Fire Punch at last, I moved on to Victory road, which I waltzed through, having completed it a million times before. I stocked up on full restore and revive, deposited my HM slaves, then headed in!
-Lorelei was far easier than I thought. Despite all but one of her pokemon having an uber STABed Surf, only Lapras actually used it, before being promptly dispatched by Slash.
-Next comes Brune, who was a cakewalk with Psychic, and a few Fire Punches thrown in for good measure. On to Agatha!
-Who was, again, a cinch. Thank god for the lack of levitate! Earthquake destroyed her with no problems.
-On to Lance. Lance was probably the hardest of the bunch, because dragons are strong aginst Fire. But Flareon made his only contribution here, managing to hit with all 5 of his Fire Blasts. Alaria then chimed in with some Digs, then slunk back into uselessness. Ah how I miss poor Arcanine!
-Then comes Doofus, who was a mixed kettle of fish. Most were easy, like Pidgeot and Alakazam and Exeggutor, but Blastoise was a tough nut to crack. Firestorm shone here, with Slash saving the day once more. And thus ends the first leg on my Fire type UMC. With my DS and Pokemon Platinum coming in a few weeks, I need to get a wriggle on.

Fire Type UMC - Crystal #1
-Ok, nostalgia aside, I named myself Ebony, picked a Cyndaquil named Inferno, then headed over to Mr Pokemon's house. Got the egg, a pokedex and a worried phone call. Whoops. Sorry mum. Then a distressed phone call from Professor Elm has me hi-tailing it back to to the lab, beating ??? along the way, whom I identified as Doofus.
-I then set out on my adventure, hammering Falkner with Ember, then, gambolling through the Ruins of Alph and Union cave to Azalea Town. Talked to an indignant Kurt, then followed him to the Slowpoke Well, utterly crucifying Team Rocket, then moved on to Bugsy, who was, needless to say, exceptionally easy.
- Went to Ilex Forest, beating Doofus again, got cut, then moved on to Goldenrod, grabbing two Thunderpunch TM's. I then went up and beat Whitney, the little sook, gaining the Plainbadge. I then zipped over to the flower shop, grabbing the squirtbottle, caught Sudowudo, boxed him, caught a Growlithe that I named Gonzales (cause i'm that cool :P), the trained him up to near Inferno's level.
-I headed up to Ecruteak, visited burned tower, hammered Doofus, who called me weak again, beat Morty, beat the Kimono Girls, then headed down to Olivine. Climbed the towed, jumped back down, got Strength and the good rod, and surfed to Cianwood.
-Thrashed Eisune, then hammered Chuck with my newly learned Thunderpunch. Hooray for Typhlosion! Got Fly from Chuck's wife, who thinks he's fat, then flew back to Olivine to give the Medicine to Jasmine. Beat jasmine with Flame Wheel, then went back to Goldenrod for a spot of gambling. And my Odd Egg actually hatched into a Magby! how lucky is that? So I trained up Krakatoa (Shut up. I like volcanoes, ok?), then got 2 Fire Blast TMs, which took FOREVER. Looked at the time, and decided it was bedtime. And that's all for now!

My Team:
Inferno

Level 37 Typhlosion
Flame Wheel, Quick Attack, Ember, Thunderpunch

Gonzales

Level 34 Growlithe
Take Down, Fire Blast, Bite, Flame Wheel

Krakatoa

Level 20 Magby

Yes folks, Cardwell has returned. And believe it or not, i haven't been playing much pokemon as of late. After beating White, i didnt play again until last night. Yu Gi Oh has taken up most of my free time as of late. None the less, I fired up my emulator last night and continued the Silver leg of my Ultimate Grass Monotype Challenge. I started in Ekruteak. After some frsustration against the trainers in Chuck's gym i realized Hypnosis + Leech Seed + Confusion or Barrage can be awesome. I used that combo to beat Chuck, Jasmine and Pryce with ease (forgot screen caps).

By that point Exeggcute was over leveled compared to Bayleef, so i let him do everything in Goldenrod, and against Clair. Thats as far as I got.

Current Team

Meganium (lvl 41)
-Razor Leaf
-Body Slam
-Headbutt
-Poison Powder

Exeggcute (lvl 42)
-Barrage
-Sleep Powder
-Leech Seed
-Confusion
