Hi guys,well... I noticed that in B/W gym leaders are more active than in previous gens. I mean they actually battle and fight against Phantom Team in many occasions rather than just standing inside a building doing nothing than just waiting for challengers. What do you think? do you like how gym leaders are getting little by little more involved in the storyline in different ways than just to give you a badge?
They were involved in different ways in all the other games. Crasher Wake travels to the Heatran mountain place, Jasmine goes over seas to Sinnoh, They all give you rematches, Fantina and Jasmine verse you in the Pokemon Contests, Crasher helps you out with team Galacic, Gardenia shows you the Haunted Mansion, Roark works in the coal mines. These all happedned in Diamond/Platinum

In G/S/C/Hg/Ss Lance (E4) helps you various times against team rocket, the gym leaders go shopping/ traveling/ getting photos with you and they all give you rematches in a different area.

So they aren't really getting more active, they just participate in the story line in different ways. B/W gym leaders dont go to the cafe and reverse you remember :(

I dont think they could do rematches with gym leaders even if they wanted to. All 17 types have very limited options because each type has about 3 or 4 evo lines. They made it so even and fair that they couldn't really make the teams any better.

They would have to use pokemon from the previous 4 generations.

Well if I remember right, in pretty much all rematches with the gym leaders or E4, they tend to have a mix of new and old Pokemon. Much like the E4 rematches in these new games. I'm not sure if it was like this in Emerald as I never really played the third gen games, but the 4th gen is like that. So Pokemon number is definitely not a reason for them not to do rematches.

Obviously, like Pixy said, they just want to keep this feature for the third game because that's really what they always do lol.

Having pokemon from the previous gens would work just fine. There is the Dream World and PokeShifter that the leaders could use to get other gen pokemon. I am sure that they have been overseas to other gens in their little pokemon world. And there are also some wild previous gen pokemon if I am not mistaken after the pokedex. Unless I read wrong.

They tend to mix old and new a lot. Cynthia appears and fights you and she has two issue pokemon in her party. And did you happen to forget where one of isshu's elite four is from...?
Sometimes I wonder if there's a point to a signature. Then I remember: you're reading this :P

I don't know how that relates to gym leaders, unless Cynthia is suddenly a gym leader, anyway...

And actually, I think if they do have rematches, they'll only use the Isshu Pokemon, rather than old Pokemon as suggested - because guess what? Using old Pokemon is expected and GF likes to shock us!

I hate that Aloes awesomeness has faded. Once we saw her full body it all changed lol. Her team being so boring doesn't help either.

And other generation Pokemon are wild in Isshu after the National Dex.

Aloe's team is not boring. It is epic. >:o

I just checked and apparently the Ice gym badge is called the Icicle badge. Does anyone find it odd that they gave it the same name as Candace's badge (also icicle badge). I thought all badges were meant to be different.... I dont like that they repeated a badge name, it may be a small issue but it bothers me.

I'm really not sure whether to be bothered by the badge repeat name thing really. The good thing is that the two badges at least look different, and only hold the same name. They got creative with every other gym this generation at least, like having the three basic types as the first gym, which kinda makes up for it to me. ^^;

There is one thing I'm not liking though.. why are the badges so incredibly thin this generation? It irks me so bad.. it looks like they compressed the badge between two weights on it's sides.. and smashed it to be really small. >_<

Well, there is a slight... very slight chance it could change for the English versions! lol no impossible

Though for those that really didn't get into dppt, they wouldn't really know the badge names, so it doesn't matter (like me, for example). Besides, the badge name is fine by me anyway. XD

Yeah but there are plenty of other ice badge names available, it isn't like they were running out of ideas. How about Snowflake badge to go with the new snowflake pokemon, Avalanche badge, Snowcone Badge, Ice Shard Badge,Hail Badge, Ice Badge, chill badge or Frost Badge which sounds the coolest.

It is just quite odd for a repeat of a badge, I dont know why they made that decision. For a pokemon perfectionist like me who gets bothered by every mistake, it really annoys me and I will be dying to know why the repeated the name of the most recent generation badge. Candace will be so pissed I must say DX

As for the skinny badges.... I dont really like it. The badges them selves are attractive but I would prefer them fatter than they are.

Isn't that its name in the US Versions??? It doesn't bother me, but the thinness of the badges bugs me =(

If you feel like battling, send me a message (: I do use hacked Pokemon and am not afraid to admit it. If you have an restriction (No DW Pokemon, no legendaries, etc.) I'd be happy to oblige by those rules.

There is no "Icicle Badge" in any of the Japanese Pokemon games. In the Japanese versions of Diamond and Pearl, Candice's badge was named the Glacier Badge.

In the US games it is Icicle badge.

So in the US games the new badge won't be named the Icicle Badge.

There is no inconsistency.
Yeah, I don;t think the Japanese badge name is too much to get worked up about, I mean the changed Candice's badge from glacier because in english Pryce's was the glacier badge.

Alright...
Mahagony Town Badge: Jap - Ice Badge. U.S. - Glacier Badge,
Snowpoint City Badge: Jap - Glacier Badge. U.S. - Icicle Badge.
Sekka City Badge: Jap - Icicle Badge. U.S. - ???

So the next region badge in J.P. probably will be U.S. name of the next region.. And so on. LOL. Icicle Badge (Sekka City):

Lovely that it will most likely be changed. I noticed someone suggested Snowflake and if it does change, I do want Snowflake for it. :D;
