Number got off by one again, mya.
Etrian Odyssey is pretty fun, and if you decide you want to use another person, so long as the rest of your party is roughly around the same level you can level up that person pretty fast. I managed to trade off my Ninja for my Farmer (this is the problem I was having with wanting two save files and all), and my Farmer's now at least thrice the level she was when I put her on the team. Not only that, but she's actually pretty strong for her level. She has the strongest weapon available for her class at the moment, but since she's still low-leveled she doesn't have much general power.
But this is my team so far:
Maka (Hoplite): Hoplites are like the Protector class from the first two games. They are very defensive and help protect the other team members. They have great HP because of this. However, they are equally offensive, and can do a lot of damage to enemies, as Maka as shown from time to time. They are definitely recommended for any party.
Alice (Farmer): Farmers are very supportive skill-wise, but they are very offensive nevertheless. Farmers are good at scavenging at points, they can increase the chances of enemies dropping items or even rare items, they can increase the chances of finding rare items at scavenge points, they boost Exp. gained, they revive dead members at campsites and restore more HP/TP (the game's MP) there too... I would actually recommend a Farmer in the party if you like earning a lot of cash, since you can only gain cash by completing Quests and stuff and selling whatever you find.
Wendy (Monk): Monks are not only good at fighting bare-handed (they have nearly as much power as they would holding a club), they are the healers of the group. How often do you come across an offensive healer? Also recommended for any party, Wendy is an amazing healer who can even heal her own HP while she heals another ally's, or when she attacks and enemy with a skill, thanks to an ability of hers.
Lucia (Zodiac): Zodiacs are the Alchemists/Black Mages. They're really powerful if they hit an enemy's elemental weak point (especially if one charges their power), but they're not good offensively and rely on their skills too much. However, there is an ability that regenerates a Zodiac's TP (MP, PP, have at it would you) whenever they defeat an enemy.
Kanon (Prince): Princes/Princesses are also great supporters. They raise a row's offense or defense, prevents them from receiving any ailments, and so forth. In addition to that, they have abilities that regain the party's HP (if the Prince/Princess is at full HP at the end of a turn, if they're alive at the end of a battle, every step you take, when they use a support attack they restore some of that row's HP...) and their own TP. They're also very offensive, though if you want to make full use of their healing capabilities I'd put them in the back, even though they'd do less damage. Definitely recommended.
And finally,
Tsubaki (Ninja): Ninjas are status inflictors, but they're also good with evasion and can make clones of themselves. On top of that, one of their starter skills allows them to attack from the back row as if they were attacking from the front row. But while they can be pretty offensive, Tsubaki has been shown to die a lot due to her low HP, and her TP isn't all that great. As a result, I decided to swap her with Alice.

tl;dr I LOVE MY TEAM AND Y'ALL SHOULD PLAY ETRIAN ODYSSEY. The first two games are hard to find, but you can still find the third game new. They aren't exactly sequels of each other (in fact, the third game has entirely new classes), the cities are different, the monsters and areas are different, etc.
