Why so prejudiced?

I hate them because the puns are terrible, the creativity sucks, etc. etc.

Right now we're thinking up Geechisu's English name and coming up with awesome.

They're still terrible, though.

I even prefer "Showers", "Thunders", and "Booster", not to mention "Fire", "Freezer", and "Thunder". They're more creative than this crap.

The mindset that "Japan > etc" is the mindset of a weeaboo.

And if they're "so uncreative", then why didn't anybody else think of them? How would YOU localize it? Keep all the Japanese names?

Did I say Japan > everything? No. So don't stereotype, dude.

I would keep some of the ones that could actually stay in English, but change the ones that sound too Japanese (unless the Pokemon are based on a Japanese origin; depends).

3. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NEVER USE ACTUAL WORDS FOR NAMES EVER. THOSE ARE VERY HIGHLY UNCREATIVE. WAY MORE UNCREATIVE THAN WHAT THE RUMORED NAMES ARE. NAMES LIKE THAT BUG ME TO NO END.

Okay, the text translations have gone downhill from the originals more than I thought they did. They've probably been going too literal in some spots. What they need is an English major specializing in grammar checking these sentences for accuracy. Seriously.

However, your constant ranting about how the English names suck is implying that you think the Japanese names are better.

I haven't played the games yet, so I could experience the English names first and accept them for what they are. Because, inevitably, EVERYONE will use them in common Pokemon related vernacular. Once it's released in localized English, calling them by their Japanese names will give off the stigma that you are an weeaboo.

It's still not good to stereotype, though :/ Stereotyping leads to prejudice, which leads to discrimination.

And some non-weeaboos use the Japanese names for characters in other series, so why not for Pokemon? I mean, there are plenty of people who prefer Satoshi, Kasumi, Takeshi etc. who aren't weeaboos. They just grew up with the Japanese names.

I usually go by what I hear first. Detective Conan is a different case, but I read most all of the manga with the Japanese names instead of the English names and after 700+ chapters they tend to stick.

I'm not going to complain too much about it, because I know that regardless, that I'm going to have to learn their English names anyways in order to communicate decently with a few of my friends once it comes out.

...

I'll never be able to pronounce Desukan's english name right though.

[jq]Foongus
Amoongus[/jq]

AHA! I get it! Fungus among us!

[jq]Tamagetake
Morobareru[/jq]
TL NOTE: Its name may be derived from 茸 take, mushroom (or, more specifically, the Shiitake mushroom), and 玉 tama, sphere, referencing the design of its cap. Another possible origin is the word 魂消る tamageru, "to be astonished."
TL NOTE: Morobareru is from もろ moro "completely" and ばれる bareru "to be found out" or "to come out".

Also, don't try to hide behind some basis of discrimination and deny that you're a weeaboo. I'm basing my judgments based on the way you act, not by some predetermining factor like post count, theme, race, sex, or some crap. This is not prejudice. This is prejudice. Also,
>implying that people can use the Japanese names and not be weeaboos
They should know their audience. They should know that people aren't going to recognize the Japanese names 72 times out of 80. If the English name exists, use it in discussion. Makes things a whole lot simpler. Use Japanese names? Wapanese.

Cool story, PIXY.

... I forgot about Beyblade when I wrote that. Ehhhh, well, I blame some of my friends who are anime weeaboos for that. :x It's probably the one exception though, where I used to use English names but now I use Japanese names though I always wrote 'Rei' instead of 'Ray'. However, when talking to my friends who have used the English names, I convert myself to using those.

Uuhhh... Cofa.grigus.

HOW MANY 10S WILL I GIVE BEFORE I REALIZE THAT 10S ARE FORBIDDEN?

Also, Cowboy Bebop is amazing, every single one of you should watch it.

Kevin, your logic is more messed up than ever. And don't say mine is just as messed up, because it isn't :/

I'd call you a right-winger who discriminates, but oh wait I don't like stereotyping.
