Gift Pokémon only runs are a good idea, but what about this variation?

THE NON-STANDARD CHALLENGE (D/P/Pt/HG/SS)

NOTE: This challenge requires beating the Battle Tower/Frontier. Patience is a must.

Basically, you can only use Pokémon that are obtainable in the area you catch them, but not in standard wild battles (as in: starters, gifts, dongle method, prizes, Poké Radar, and certain swarms. Roaming legendaries are considered to be unusable until the challenge is complete, and the Safari Zone, Pal Park, Bug-Catching Contest, and similar areas are banned.) You can catch others but cannot use them.

Hacking to encounter Pokémon that are otherwise only available post-National Dex is allowed assuming you follow the above rule; however, it is recommended (though not required) you give them a different original trainer via hacking to simulate having to trade for them. Only encounter codes are allowed, not giving yourself the Pokémon automatically! If necessary, the "all Pokétch apps" code can be used in DPPt if the encounter code you are using requires the Pokétch.

Only Pokémon obtainable this way in the version you are playing are catchable, not those from other versions. Check the version-exclusive list before you obtain the Pokémon.

Pokémon obtained by hacking must be of the level they can be obtained at in the area.

If a Pokémon is catchable by a special method only in one area but a standard wild battle in another area in the same version, they are legal. (Examples include the Bibarel and Staravia at Lake Verity via dongle method.)

Event Pokémon that items are required to access (such as Arceus) are illegal. This includes Latios in HG and Latias in SS.

RULE AMENDMENTS:

Shiny Pokémon may be used even if otherwise illegal due to their rarity.
Garchomp, Salamence and Wynaut/Wobbuffet cannot be used no matter what because they are ubers.
You are allowed ONE Pokémon otherwise illegal, as long as it is not uber or legendary. (This is to make the challenge easier.)

RULE CLARIFICATIONS:

Starters are allowed as they are considered gifts. This includes the Kanto and Hoenn starters in HG/SS.
Magnemite and its evolutions are considered to be the illegal Pokémon in Platinum, as they are available normally in their D/P swarm location.

The challenge ends when:

D/P: You defeat the Elite Four 20 times and Palmer's second team at the Battle Tower
Platinum: You defeat your rival's final weekend battle team and earn all gold prints at the Battle Frontier
HG/SS: You defeat the Elite Four 20 times and earn all gold prints at the Battle Frontier

SCORING:

+5 points per Gym Leader defeated (+2 per Kanto leader in HG/SS)
+1 point per Elite Four completed
+1 points per Silver Print (Pt/HG/SS)
+3 points per Gold Print (Pt/HG/SS); does not stack with Silver Print bonus
+7 for beating final rival battle (Pt)
+10 for beating Red (HG/SS)
+5 for beating Giovanni (HG/SS; hacking for Celebi is allowed but it cannot actually battle)
+1 per legendary Pokémon caught (Regigigas can be hacked into Pt but must also be caught normally to count)

+5 if you use 0 illegals
+5 if you do not use more Pokémon than the opposing Gym Leader in any battle
+5 if you use a Slakoth and do not evolve it prior to the Battle Tower/Frontier completion
More bonuses coming soon...

Yeah...my suggestion: screw all the hacking, cheating, overriding rules and whatnot, just keep it plain and simple.

How about making it unique by not having you challenge Red on Hg/Ss, but instead, just defeat the Battle Frontier? Due to Hg/Ss being so long anyway...

oh, and, message for KnilShadowLink: Don't say things like that when you don't actually know. Salamence is uber, see this link for details. evidence proving I'm right, and you're wrong.

:/ Sorry about that, I guess I haven't been keeping up with the tiers, sorry...but did you have to be an ass about it?
When I was young, there were only 151 Pokemon, and Pluto was a planet...
