as for twisters..
i'd have to call up the Higurashi // Umineko no Naku Koro ni-series.
if you watched them you might know what i'm talking about.
high-level Yandere.

turn-of-events-twisters.. i think i'd say Angel Beats!, in a way.
and FullMetal Alchemist.
though that last one might've just been me cause it was the first anime i ever watched.
Spoiler:
but oh, how i hated it when Hughes died..

Twisted:
Have to agree with Charizard Elfen Lied is such an awesome anime but so damn twisted.
Another would be Death Note. Light turned into a real psycho.

Unpredictable:
Hmm I can't really recall any at the moment :/

I wouldn't class the part you are talking about as psycho.

Spoiler:
It was desperation as well as his more human side hitting home I *would like to*think.

Just a thought.
Thats true.

But it was still twisted :x

Hmmm, Twisted as in non-unpredicable twisted
I guess it would be Elfin Lied for the gore and general Guro.
Same goes for Higurashi along that line.

Kara no Kyoukai Movie 5: Mugen Rasen wasn't too bad along those both twisted definitions too

Unpredictable: There's plenty out there, here's a few

Kuchuu Buranko. The art. The characters. The situations. It's hard to expect anything normal from this show.

Also, Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Family Feud, child abuse, magic, groundhog day, it's execution, yeah this show is pretty messed up.

It may not be gorey or adult oriented, but I honestly feel as if you haven't seen a REAL TWISTED ANIME unless you've seen Serial Experiments Lain. Seriously, it's as twisted as it gets without being violent to the point of excess gore and/or sexual content. It'll have you jumping at shadows if you're easily scared into such a state of mind. xD

Honestly I think Death Note was twisted in that AWESOME sort of way. XD

I haven't watched that much anime (I'm working on it!) but School Days.

What was that?!
- If we could live without passion maybe we'd know some kind of peace... but we would be hollow... Empty rooms shuttered and dank. -
- Without passion, we would be be truly dead -

Death Note's twists are the best twists ever. The most twisted, unpredictable anime is probably School Days. I'm sure all of you know the messed up ending.
It was a messed up ending but good XD

Elfen Lied gets my vote too. :(

As well as Higurashi for unpredictableness. Especially during the question arcs omg. But the whole thing gets major points because there were so many bad endings (even when you were so certain it was gonna be a good ending!) that by the time you get up to the end of Kai, even things that would normally be predictable leave you second-guessing your predictions just on principle.

Umineko too, I suppose, but I find it a lot more over-the-top than Higurashi was... more like it's unpredictable for the sake of being unstable rather than for plot. :( But maybe that's just because I've yet to see a single answer arc.
