Funny, there was an article in the newspaper last week talking about how New York's tourism is rising again. And most of the residents here find it really annoying. xD But me personally, I'm fine with it. Although... I do feel stupid whenever some person walks up to me and asks me something in a foreign language.
he did it, not me.

Love 'em, they're so amusing. I love going into the city and seeing them whip out their camera every five seconds, or being stopped to help them take a photo.

I don't mind foreign tourists, as they're much more interesting, but in our area we don't get those. We get leaf peepers, these people from Florida and other places like that who take pictures of our so called "foilage". (Seriously, that's what they call foliage.) And they kind of irk me, since they try to "fit in" by wearing flannel shirts and those really stupid hats, which, contrary to popular belief, not all of us wear. And they take pictures of our yard while I'm in it. o_O I know it's just because our yard has a lot of trees, but it's still kind of awkward. And once some of them stole our apples. Like, they just came in our yard and took a bunch of them off our tree.

So yeah, not really into those kind of tourists.
if you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to fear

if you've something to hide, you shouldn't even be here

I think tourists are awesome, why wouldn't you like them? ^^

It's really fun to watch them take pictures of our country and it's really cool when they ask you to help them take a picture or ask for directions. :3

I find them funny with the photo taking and not having any idea where to go. But if I want to go to another country I'd be a tourist. I can. I don't see why other people can't either. So no I don't mind, it doesn't really have a huge impact on my life anyway

Despite living in a major American city, I haven't encountered many tourists in my lifetime. It might be because I live and work in the 'ghetto' part of town that no tourist in their right mind would visit. XD

I always try to be helpful to the few tourists I do come across during the summer months though. I remember one occasion when I was a kid, and some tourists haggled my parents for directions to someplace downtown, and we ended up spending the rest of the day with these strangers showing them all the lesser landmarks my dad knew of. XD

I love to travel. I would travel continuously if I could.

So, I have nothing against tourists persay. Although, maybe I should really say travellers.

I'm not fond of people who travel for bragging rights. You don't travel to go to the mall or stay in your hotel. That doesn't count as being somewhere as far as I'm concerned.

If you like doing entirely the tourist traps, okay. Whatever floats your boat. I enjoy those too, but I try to do a lot of local or less-travelled things.

I don't often live in dense urban areas or places of unique culture or natural habitats so I don't see tourists too often. I visited Saigon once when I still lived in Vietnam and did see a couple of tourists there; personally I think they add life to the places they visit, if not at least benefiting the economy.

What's the point in hating them when you know you're one yourself whenever you travel? It's hypocrisy to the max.

I'll admit the stereotypical tourist (tacky Hawaiian shirt, sunglasses, camera, straw hat) is a bit odd, but why can't we respect how one dresses?
