How well can you play a game when your pokemon can only use two moves?

Basically, you can only have three pokemon, and during the whole playthrough you can only use one damage-inflicting attack and one status move for each of your three(or less) pokemon. That means that you'd have, at max, only three different type attacks making many gyms much more harder(as there would only be a few gyms that you have attacks that you are super-effective against). Now that you mention it, the whole game would be much harder, as you would be stuck using moves like tackle and scratch!

Rules:
-You can only use three pokemon for battle(you can have as many HM-slaves as you want).
-Once you battle with a pokemon, AKA use a move (this excludes when all three(or less) of your pokemon are fainted and you are forced to use an HM-slave) it is considered part of your team.
-^^^Regarding the above rule, you can use 'sacrifice' pokemon--pokemon you switch in to get a free switch with another pokemon.
-During the whole playthrough, each of your pokemon can only use one damage-inflicting attack and one status move. You can choose to not use one status move at all or a damage-inflicting move at all for a pokemon.
-You can include any pokemon into your team at any time, but you may not replace a pokemon already in your team(save for HM slaves, of course)
-The second a move is used, it is considered that pokemon's status/damage-inflicting move and that pokemon may not use another status or damage-inflicting move.
-The only exception to the rule is when the PP of BOTH moves for a pokemon have been used, and it is the only pokemon the user has left, and has no PP-regaining items. Then the user is able to use another move.
If the user has used up the PP of only one move, they must use the other move until it's PP runs out/defeats the opponent, and if they have another pokemon(except HM slaves) they must switch to that pokemon.
-I've stated it before, and it's pretty obvious, but I just wanted to make it absolutely clear: you may not change the moves.

Well, I think that's it. Have fun!

Challenging: chaos11011, tente2
Champions: mondays suck

Well, have fun!

Now this looks like one challenging challenge, and even without it being a Nuzlocke. The Elite 4 is going to be REALLY hard to beat, I foresee either massive overleveling or tons of healing items+struggle...

Here's my planned team:

Totodile - Scratch, Leer (I'll try to delay this and go for screech though)
Hoppip - Leech Seed, Mega Drain
Magnemite - Thunder Shock, Thunder Wave

That's going to be a lot of bait+switch grinding for Hoppip, but it shall be worth it.

Forgot to mention: the version shall be Silver.
And now I'll start.

First Update!
Spoiler:

That's right, the name is Claws. Because those are all he's going to need.

The only number in the game worth getting.

Yay for massive overgrinding!

Well, that was easy.

DO NOT WANT

So far, Claws has no status move used yet. Screech is still a possibility.

More Update:
Spoiler:

Only took me 3 Pokeballs. Not bad considering I couldn't weaken it because Claws is too strong...

I'm planning this to have two life draining moves, so the name is more than just appropriate.
Massive grinding ensued, and...

Dammit. This means 6 more levels until Mega Drain. Why did Parasite have to get to level 18 just when I wasn't paying attention?

Ohai Joey

It is. Perfect weather for some grinding.

Have you been doing some grinding as well?

By the way, have you already seen my new useless Skiploom? I wish I could show you.

a what?

No, you didn't. You're still 10, Joey. Congratulations on the win though.

Then grind. Grind until your TFP Rattata could solo the Elite 4. It's not even going to be hard.

Yeah right, bye.

Oh, and I beat Team Rocket. No challenge, considering how overleveled I am.

OH FINALLY

already lovin' it

Leech Seed+Scratch=Dead Bugsy.

And the team at this point. Still 14 levels to go until Mega Drain, assuming I don't accidentally let Parasite evolve into Jumpluff:\

And more
Spoiler:

DAMN, this rival battle was PAINFUL. First, this Gastly that I could only hurt using Leech Seed. Then, Bayleef with Razor Leaf vs paralyzed Claws. VERY close. And then, Zubat. After getting Leechseeded, it used Supersonic on Claws, and then spammed Bite, getting something like 5 flinches in a row. I'm so glad I'm going to have my last teammember the next time.

Later, somewhere around Goldenrod:

OH NO YOU WONT

I have no problems with this though.
Whitney time!

Piece of cake. And no, that evolution didn't happen.

The team at this point. 8 levels to go for Mega Drain, assuming I don't screw up.
Also note that I still haven't used any other move that Scratch on Claws yet, Screech is getting more and more realistic.

Uggh. I barely made any progress at all, because I ad to go somewhere, and I only got to play, like 5 minutes(counting the time it took to take the screenshots), so I barely did anything. I'll get up to Morty in the meantime, but here are is my (barely) progress:
Spoiler:
-Beat Sprout Tower
-Beat Falkner

See what I mean? I barely did anything!

Current Team:
Debon, lv. 12 - Tackle, Undetermined
Albus, lv. 11 - Tackle, Undetermined
Shanoa, lv. 11 - Bubble, Hypnosis

This is like, 10 seconds after I battle him....______________Hey, those guys have cancer!

Here comes Tea in disguise with her friendship speech...

I didn't know Lincoln was into pokemon...Ughh!!! The gym puzzle is too hard!

REALLY?_____________________Ten bucks says she's a robot.__Dude, we met yesterday.

Meet my new HM slave!________So long!

I just noticed I probably could have beat bugsy if I hadn't taken so many screens...

Next time you see me, I'll be in Ecruteak City.

Yet another update. A very low eventful things/spent time rate, but here it is anyways:
Spoiler:

So I killed Sudowoodo, which got me access to Ecruteak, resulting in:

Yeah, I'm a horribly unimaginative person. I thought about what to nickname this at least 10 minutes, but I couldn't come up with anything better.

Also, Joey called for a rematch.

So why not try to find out my Pokemon's true skills?

So, Rattata got seeded, but then Parasite got badly wounded (read: not at all, HF missed), so I switched.

Eventually, after a long and tough struggle, Rattata finally went down. What a battle!

Should have caught that Pidgey you were talking about earlier, Joey

Grinding continued, and my first Pokemon to get its second move was ironically the one I captured last.

Later, Parasite finally got to level 36, learned Mega Drain, and was allowed to evolve as well.

So I grinded some more...

...and beat Morty. Damn, I had been so afraid of this battle, and then THIS

The team after two more levels of Magneton grinding:

Scratch still packs quite a punch, which surprises me. Also, still no second move. Like I said, I'd rather have Screech than Leer.

After exactly 30 painful levels of bait+switch, I'm now having this monster. PP are probably going to be a problem here at some point though.

Good thing I set the clock to Sunday (because it is default) when I started this, it got me the Magnet. Also, this thing is a monster, Thundershock feels like Thunderbolt up to now.

Now I've finally reached the point where I can stop excess grinding and do some plot stuff, like this:
Spoiler:

Parasite was sleeping all the time after having fired off one Leech Seed (well, he did wake up at some point, but Dynamic Punch confusion prevented him from doing anything), and Poliwhirl just couldn't hurt him.

Moving along in the plot...

Parasite killed the water ones, Claws took on Piloswine. Not much problems. Mega Drain got Parasite more HP back than the 4x Ice weak lost, I just didn't want to risk something like a crit Blizzard from 'swine. After all, this is still a no deaths run (at least if you don't count my HM slave Poliwag which I grinded up to become a Poliwhirl and learn Strength, it died to a Raticate or something at some point)

I was, like, REALLY afraid of Jasmine, but Parasite destroyed her. Steelix didn't stand a chance, and the Magnemites were brought down by Leech Seed+getting walled by Miracles.

The team at this point. Parasite is currently a bit ahead, which is because he's helluva bosskiller. He's unfortunately not as good in normal battles though.

Sorry, for the EXTREME delay, but I had to get a hair cut. I actually haven't gotten to Ecruteak like I promised, simply because I haven't beat Whitney. She's so hard! I've tried so many times that I don't know how many. There were about two REALLY close ones(as you can see in ones of the screens) Well, I'm going to take a break. Here it is:

Current Team:

Debon, lv. 22
Moves:
-Tackle
-Smokecreen

Albus, lv. 23
Moves:
-Tackle
-Foresight

Shanoa, lv. 23
Moves:
-Bubble
-Hypnosis

Spoiler:
-Went through Union Cave
-Beat Team Rocket
-Beat Rival
-Beat Bugsy
-Arrived at Goldenrod
-Attempted about 30(or more) times to beat Whitney, but to no avail.

Yeah, again really sorry for being so late. I'll try Whitney again later.

So I finished Radio Tower and got to Blackthorn. I had problems beating Clair's gym trainers (no deaths, but those Dragonairs were VERY annoying), so I'll have to do some grinding before challenging her. And by some, I mean a lot.

Here's the team:

Movesets (yeah, I'm too lazy too screenshot them as well):
Claws - Scratch
Parasite - Mega Drain, Leech Seed
Miracles - Thunder Shock, Thunder Wave
Poliwhirl - Surf, Strength, Whirlpool, Waterfall
Paras - Cut, Flash, Rock Smash, Dig
Spearow - Fly

Update: Leveled up to level 50. Beat Clair. Damn, that was hard. Leech Seed+Magneton brought down the Dragonairs easily, but Kingdra was a pain. It almost killed Parasite, then Miracles was very close to death after a very long battle full of both sides being paralyzed all the time - Kingdra was paralyzed a lot less often though
Well, in the end, I switched to Claws and finished off the heavily weakened (I love you, Leech Seed) easily. Should probably have done that earlier, but then again it wasn't my fault that Magneton was paralyzed all the time (actually the only thing it managed to do was one Thunder Wave)

With Clair having been so much trouble, I'm definetely not looking forward to the Elite 4. Especially since I'll only have 14 Leech Seeds (with the PP Ups from Violet and Ice Path, did I forget any?) against 26 Pokemon.

By the way, Claws knows Screech now. A great help for Scratch's power.

Yeah, it's a sad thing, this challenge is certainly a fun one, despite being quite a grindfest.

Speaking of grinding, I'm currently in the process of getting my team to level 58, and then challenge the Elite 4. Why 58? Well, I was originally planning to grind only to level 55, but Feraligatr learns Hydro Pump at 58, and I don't want to risk getting into a no-PP-situation and having other moves. And those 3 extra levels won't harm anyways.

Dammit, I had written hell of an update, and then: Database error. Not going to write all that stuff again.
So, what did I do? I beat the Elite 4, no losses except for 3 Super Potions, 1or 2 Paralysis healers and 2 or 3 Hyper Potions (only one of them in battle though). Pretty easy overall, only that damned Vileplume (because my team is so horrible vs grass types) and Lance's Outrage Dragonite (almost killed Claws with a crit) caused problems.

You don't. You PrntScreen and then paste it on Paint, then cut everything out except the screen. And then after that you have to upload it to a server like Photobucket.

It's a lot of work, trust me.

Anyways, guys, sorry for not updating anything in a long time, but I've been busy lately with my Bug Monotype Challenge and I haven't got to playing much. I'll update after Jasmine. Or Clair. Or the Elite Four. I don't know.

And...

WHITNEY WAS HARD.

I'm using VBA, which conveniently has a screenshot feature
Spoiler:

As for my run, I've been somewhat busy lazy recently, but I'll probably continue on the weekend.

WHAT. THE. ****.

You should of told me this when I spent half an hour talking like, 30 screenshots and then ended up only using like, 5 for my Bug Monotype Challenge.

Anyway, Update Time!

I would of done this earlier if it weren't for the fact a certain someone decided today was the day he wanted to play his Emerald for the whole day...and then when I was heading towards Chuck my emulator starting glitching up so I got scared and stopped right there so I wouldn't lose any data.

-Beat Whitney (Finally!) Beat Morty Real Fast, Beat Lighthouse.

Moves:
-Tackle
-Smokescreen

Albus, lv. 30
Moves:

-Foresight

Shanoa, lv. 29
Moves:
-Bubble
-Hypnosis

^^^lol, I ran into four(I forgot what Quilava was called so I searched Cyndaquil) disambiguation pages while looking for the sprites(Ash's Noctowl and Quilava, Misty's former Poliwhirl). I never noticed all three pokemon I picked where owned by anime characters.

That's right, Whitney! CRY! CRY! CRY LIKE THE LOSER YOU ARE! HAHAHA!
...Yeah, I had to do that.

More coming soon.

Imma grind for Morty.here some pictures of my progress (thanks for the help Monday)

Spoiler:

URGGHHH!!!! Your screenshots look so much better and clearer than mine! IT'S NOT FAIR! I spent too much time on screenshots!

Well, on the bright side, I can probably take much more screenshots. See you after Jasmine gets her ass kicked.

EDIT: Well, turns out that if I try to play my Crystal on VBA, I have to start all over again since I was playing on Playguy(the only reason I play gen 1 & 2 games on Playguy is because Playguy automatically opens the screen in the size I like). Whatever, I guess I'm back to crappy screenshots.

Well, Update Time!

-Beat Chuck
-Beat Eisune
-Got beat by Jasmine, stopped there to grind because I knew I had no chance to beat her(I didn't even get to her Steelix!)

Not a lot, but better than before!

Current Team:

Debon, lv 32
Moves:
-Tackle
-Smokescreen

Albus, lv. 33
Moves:
-Tackle
-Foresight

Shanoa, lv. 34
Moves:
-Bubble
-Hypnosis

^^^^The reason that there is a screen of a Magby is because about half an hour ago I learned that the day-care couple actually give you an egg even before you let them take care of any pokemon! The Odd Egg I believe. Anyway, I got to say that today my Shanoa really shined. I thought Albus would be able to take on Chuck be himself, but he fainted as soon as Chuck brought out his Poliwrath. Shanoa took him on all by herself!

And, special mention to:

Shuckie, lv 17
Moves:
-Constrict
-Withdraw
-Wrap
-Encore
Who volunteered to become my Berry Juice/Rare Candy Slave.

I'm afraid to say that you won't be seeing me anymore for a while now; I'm going to be focusing on my Bug Monotype Challenge, since it's been a while since I've updated on that one.

No choice of changing the move if you want. I'd see that as tough because the move could have no PP at all.
Well, if you mean that I should mention that in the rules, OH WAIT, I DID. I said that if the PP of both moves have been used, and one has no other pokemon, then one is allowed to use another move.

If you simply mean that it's going to be hard because if the PP of Spark has been drained and you are forced to use Shock Wave 20 times, then yes.

Bait and switch grinding. Get one Pokemon with Tackle/Scratch/etc, then use it to bait and switch grind your other Pokemon to levels where they get better moves. And it's not that hard to beat. I've used only 40 power moves (one of them not even getting STAB), and I'm doing fine so far.

Also, I continued:
Spoiler:

So, I got to kanto, challenged Surge and...

FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUU-

Go to hell Surge, for ruining my no deaths run with a stupid crit Explosion. Seriously, &€$
Spoiler:
% you.

Also, I hate spoiler splitting. It can go to hell as well.

More update. Also final one.
Spoiler:

So, Parasite's will to live and drain stuff's energy was even stronger than Arceus' will to have Parasite rot in Distorion World, so Parasite stayed on earth as a Zombie.

I then proceeded to beat all remaining Kanto gym leaders and the starters guy. The Blaine battle was kind of close and Erika was annoying as hell. The rest was easy though.

...
Screw grinding, I'm going for Red.

(not pictured: Pikachu dying to Miracles after what felt like 738938 Full Restores)

Die.

Graah, this was annoying.

Surprisingly easy. Zombiepluff also shined here by Leech Seeding this HP monster, but sadly got no screentime.
(not pictured: Blastoise being annoying is hell with Rain Surf, almost killing Miracles if it wasn't for parahax, but dying a deserved death in the end)

This one was pretty easy.

Oh man, I never thought this was possible.

And the team:

With Screech and good stats, pretty much any physical move becomes beastly. Obviously Swords Dance would have been even better, but it's so hard to get in this generation.

ZOMBIEPLUFF! It's death wasn't really long ago yet, so it doesn't look zombie-ish yet though.

Spoiler:
Those 97713008898 resisitances were probably the main reason this run was not that hard for me. T-Wave was the least used move for most of the game, but against Red it pretty much saved me, especially against Blastoise.

As I already stated above, spoiler splitting can go to hell. And Surge too.

No it isn't. As mondays said, you can bait & switch grind if you really want to have a good move, but I ended up not even doing that, meaning the only attacks I have are Tackle and Bubble, and I'm doing FINE. Oh, and if you haven't noticed yet, we're in the Challenges part of the forum. CHALLENGES. Do you even know what that means?

I think I even remember that you had your own challenge, so please go to your own challenge thread and stop calling this one stupid.
