That happened to my Wii the other day, but luckily I was playing SMB3 and I was on the map screen. Plus I was about to turn the game off anyway...nothing really lost. I do have some AA batteries in a drawer by my bed for these circumstances.

Oh, and I used to bleed my batteries dry on my GBA. If the light was red, I'd just save every 5 seconds til it died. Never failed me.

I never have these issues, actually. I have a really good battery pack/station set for my Wii, and I have a car charger for my DSi (which have terrible battery life). I made sure I had all my bases covered. XD

Used to happen to me all the time back when I had a Gameboy Pocket and Gameboy Color.

This is why I've always despised wireless control mechanisms. Save for motion controllers, the wires aren't in the way at all anyway so it's a pure gimmick just done to make something different, and different means sales because people like unique stuff... apparently. Batteries also make the devices that use them heavier, which sort of goes against the whole 'convenience' idea of using them, fallacious at it is anyway.

So... I've never used a wireless controller (or in my case keyboard+mouse), therefore never had any woe stories to tell of it.

It happens to me on the Wii all the time, that's why I use a GameCube controller when possible, and I wish the Classic Controller didn't have to plug into the remote.

No, wires aren't "in the way" necessarily. But, they aren't convenient either.

I loved when I brought home the WaveBird on the GCN. I could play a console game from our couch across the room for the first time instead of having to sit a few feet away from the TV on the floor.

OMG. You don't know the pain I had with my Wii remote.

I got a Wii for Christmas, and the controller was shot. Sometimes the batteries would last 30 seconds, or not even work at all. I plan on sending my Wii controller in for repair, and I have a second one. Phew!
I suffered too when playing Twilight Princess or any other Wii games needing the Wii Remote. Not to mention the Internet Channel. xD
And yeah, a backup is essential, because my Wii Remote always lasts a shorter time than previously used. I thought I was screwed until I got my second Remote a while back.

Ughhh it's really annoying when you're playing a shooter online; let's say Call Of Duty or Bad Company and then your controller's batteries die, one of the most annoying feelings ever. Having a kill in the bag yet something SO SO SO CLOSE to you ruins it... the damn batteries.

I'd never be comfortable so far from the screen I'm using, but each to their own... It's just that with how mainstream wireless controls seem to be, I find it concerning; my ultimate worry is that I won't be able to buy wired things anymore at some point, without going to some length in doing it, bit like how I guess wired internet connections are hard to come by now.

I hate it when my Wii remote used to die all the time (before I got the rechargeable packs) while I'd be playing Smackdown vs Raw 09 on Wi-Fi. -_-

It tosses its enemies around with agility. It uses all its limbs to fight in its own unique style.

Me and my DS have a bad history. Second day of Pokemon Diamond, made it from first gym all the way to Hearthome City and battery died in middle of a contest (and why I didn't save, I will never know.) Also My Sims, had a save file where only about 5 of the main people needed to be maxed out happy to finish everything, and it died in the middle of saving just in case and then the file got corrupted. Sigh, so many battery memories...
