Ok, so I'll do with Silver (GBC).
I like to play games in order :D
I'm using Scyther and Growlithe, both of them cheated.
I'm already in Goldenrod, just defeated Whitney.
Also, I traded from Crystal a Fire Stone and a Metal Coat.
Lv. 29
Bite
Roar
Ember
Take Down
Lv. 30
Quick Attack
False Swipe
Wing Attack
Metal Claw
Sandslash as HM Slave Cut, Strength, Rock Smash
Togetic as HM Slave Fly, Flash (traded, evolved, than traded back)
Politoed as HM Slave Surf, Whirlpool, Waterfall (traded from Crystal)
PPS: HM Slaves already know their HMs, thanks to Crystal.
PPPS: HM Slaves are all at level 25, just to hang on if Growlithe or Scizor dies.
PPPPS: Nothing important :D
Mini Update:
(aka a section where I played quite a bit but not much happened)
Spoiler:
Right before entering Rock Tunnel I noticed that Venusaur was still having Tackle while I had a Body Slam TM on the PC. So I did the obvious thing to do.
Venusaur after Rock Tunnel. PP were just enough. Hopefully I won't run into any trainers on the way to Lavender, that would be an annoying battle.
And a bigger one:
Spoiler:
First thing I did after Rock Tunnel was going for Team Rocket. I forgot to pick up the Lift Key the first time and only realized when I reached the elevator. That kinda sucked. I blame the fact that it's monday.
And then I went to Pokemon Tower and...
...caught a Gastly at the highest possible level. I might as well have went for a Haunter, but they're so incredibly rare in the lower parts of the tower.
And Gastly evolved soon enough anyways by fighting some trainers on the way to Celadon I skipped exactly for that purpose.
And one easy pseudo-gym later...
...this is my situation. Looking good so far. I'm not ready with team building yet though, I'm getting my third and last member soon. I'm just not entirely sure about some details its moveset yet.
Oh, I just wanted to add some details about cheating.
Cheat only for Pokemon on the 1st Route, at Lv. 2 or 3. 1 if it is Scyther/Heracross/(or something that evolves to a pseudo).
You are allowed to cheat for maximally two Pokemon. This can actually solve you.
If you cheated, you'll have a "*" in your Hall of Fame record.
Well, okay. I'm here just to chat with people. Don't really care about signatures and stuff.
Legend speaks of a beast
Three hundred miles from it's head to its bottom
None have seen it yet all know it's name
Like the Ball of the Master or the holy Arceus
We set out on a quest
In search of the bridge, where the creature doth dwell
On a ransom to bring back it's head
Our journey would take us to Route 12
His eyes shine not at all because its tired
His mouth is as an endless pit
Snorlax
Resting in the way
Leading us all to the grave...well, he tried
Snorlax
Slaying all foes
Except Venusaur
...and Haunter. Yeah, that sucked, I'm not really good at rewriting song lyrics. At all.
Anyways, as you can probably guess, I caught Snorlax, and it even took me just one Great Ball.
What else did I do? Not much. I finished Pokemon Tower with mainly Haunter who is now level 37 and that's pretty much it.
Now, here's my question: How should I let Snorlax's moveset look like? Body Slam, EQ, Amnesia, Ice Beam and Surf would be amazing, but unfortunately that are 5 moves. Which ones should I pick?
---
After a blind, short, violent and moonrune-heavy BW Nuzlocke attempt I didn't post about, I got back to my other challenges again.
Spoiler:
So, as the upper part of the post says, I had saved after finishing Pokemon tower and getting Snorlax, and the first thing I did today was catchign a Pidgey for a Fly slave.
Snorlax turned out to be not quite pulling its weight, it was constantly in danger of dying from nasty things like parawrap, critselfdestruct or plain old confusion. It never died though. Anyways, this made Erika's gym and most of Silph co. quite a pain.
The boss battles fought with Haunter were easily won though. The low HP here was only because of a nasty crit something.
Giovanni couldn't even hit Haunter properly. If I would have just used Psychic on Nidoqueen instead of trying to hypnotize it and failing, I would have won this battle at full HP. But I didn't so it used a few Poison Stings on Haunter.
And then I beat Sabrina. It was easier than the screenshot makes it look like. Snorlax is finally starting to become good.
The team at this point. I'm still actually overleveled, surprisingly.
Next. The whole huge Fuschia area. Ugh, that will take almost as long as Silph, if not even longer.
Forced encounter, but still a wild Pokemon.
FFFFFFFFFFF-
grumblegrumblewhydidntijustmurdertheguardinsteadofdoingastupidsidequestforanitemwhichimnevergoingtouseagain
...and then cycling road was already over again
I got the two Fuschia HMs and saved, because i'm not in the mood to clear out that huuuuge area between Fuschia and the eastern Snorlax.
Team is still pretty much the same: Venusaur lv. 46, Haunter lv.46, Snorlax lv.45.
This sounds like a really awesome challenge, and I'd like to do it on Ruby. Not right now, but soon enough, aright?
Gunna take Torchic.
Started it! Maybe I can breathe some life back into this thread :/.
Update:
Spoiler:
Got my little Torchic, named him Temos.
Went up and beat May with the help of a handy Potion. Free exp, yay ^^
Took out 1 of the trainers on route 102, trying to save them for the next pokemon I would add to my team...
Caught that pokemon in Petalburg Woods! It's a named Bracer.
Tried to train him up a bit before I got to Rustboro; took out every trainer I could. Entering the gym, he was lv 9 and Temos the was lv 15. By the time my team was facing up against Roxanne, was lv 10 and Temos was a . Perfect timing!
Roxanne was easily taken care of.
Took out the rest of the trainers near Rustboro (thanks to Cut on my HM/pickup slave Zigzagoon), retrieved Peeko and took off to Dewford.
Beat up the fishermen, delivered the letter to Steven. Attempted Brawly's gym. The trainers were ok, helping my to grow to lv 12 and my to grow to lv 18.
Unfortunately, Brawly's levels were much higher than theirs.
First try: Machop's Karate Chop OHKO'd Bracer. Machop's Chops + Leer + Super Potions fell my Temos. Whiteout.
Second try: Machop's Karate Chop OHKO'd Bracer -.- . Temos tried a new strategy - Focus Energy. Machop Bulked Up twice, but Temos then spammed crit-hit Pecks for the win. Makuhita fell in two crits as well, actually posing less of a problem than Machop for the first time ever. :>
Temos grew to lv 19.
Took the ship down to Slateport and wasted the trainers on the beach and in the beach house. Took out the Magma grunts and a crazed Pokefan.
My challenge is going pretty well, I've set Temos the to the side in favour of my awesome duo:
Bracer Buzzsaw
Neither are going to evolve, ever, because I prefer their middle forms ^^ I'm kind of doing an informal Sandwich challenge at the same time :>
Anyway, they're about to take on Wallace after embarrassingly running away from the Groudon battle (not allowed to kill it, didn't feel like catching it). See the screens below.
Buzzsaw will soon get Strength move-deleted and be taught EQ for better type coverage.
Final update:
Spoiler:
Beat up Wallace, he wasn't that hard. Then swept through the sea trainers, booted everyone out of Victory Road ( - Bracer, lv 54 soloed Wally with no damage xD) and bought 129 Hyper Potions and assorted other stuff for the League. I knew it wasn't going to be easy.
Team:
Spoiler:
Bracer lv 54 Buzzsaw lv 53
Attempted the E4 once, killed Sydney with Bracer (Swagger hax and Focus Punch abuse helped), took out Phoebe with GREAT difficulty and MANY revives (Ice Beam Dusclops hurt >.<). Buzzsaw eventually Crunched those Ghosts to death.
Glacia then killed me easily.
Reset!
Went off to train in the Trick House, because there were 3 challenges I hadn't done yet.
When my guys got back,
they were each level 55.
Attempt number 2: Pwned Sydney the same way, pwned Phoebe with just as much difficulty (these battles are actually BATTLES), got up to Glacia.
Bracer managed to Focus Punch Glalie and Sealeo on the Hail (>:}), then got Attracted by the other Sealeo. Eventually crit-Slashed it to death. Took out Glalie with a few Slashes and was quickly beaten by Walrein -.-
Attempt number 3: Sydney was a bit tougher because this time, he haxxed the Swagger. Still, my team knocked him out. Phoebe hadn't changed (sigh), then Glacia.
Bracer Hyper Potion-stalled until all her pokemon had fainted to crit-Slashes! Buzzsaw helped with a Screech or two before dying, as well.
Going well! Drake was next.
Buzzsaw Dragonbreathed Shelgon, then Bracer Slashed Altaria and Flygon number 1. Flygon number 2 was a bit more difficult, haxxing the burn on Flamethrower a bit too often. Hyper Potion-stalled it. Switched Buzzsaw in to Salamence so Bracer could un-Intimidate, Buzzsaw Screeched it and then died to Dragon Claw. Bracer Slashed it to death.
Good!
Champion time!
Skarmory >.< Argh. Crit-Focus-Punched it eventually (lucky! : D).
Armaldo spammed Ancientpower, but got no boost. Buzzsaw switched in, Screeched twice, and EQ'd it. Easy kill.
Aggron died nicely to a Screech and an Earthquake.
METAGROSS! RUN! >.< Meteor Mash was an automatic OHKO on Buzzsaw (he can't really take a hit). Screech didn't work, because of Metagross's Clear Body. Bracer couldn't really do anything. Whited out.
Luckily, I'd saved after Drake so I didn't have to beat my way through the ranks again.
Attempt number 4:
Skarmory >.< This time, Buzzsaw triple-Screeched it and Bracer got a lucky Focus Punch on Skarm's Toxic.
Armaldo got the Ancientpower boost O.O That thing was suddenly a tank. Buzzsaw eventually managed to Screech it 3 times after multiple Revive-Hyper Potion - Hyper Potion - Hyper Potion - Revive - Hyper Potion combos. EQ then killed it in 1 hit.
Aggron did exactly what it did last time. Also, Thunder o.O
METAGROSS!!! >.< Killed Buzzsaw - Bracer resurrected him and survived with a few HP. Buzzsaw came in - Earthquake. Meteor Mash missed. Earthquake. Meteor Mash missed. Full Restore. Earthquake. Earthquake CRIT YEEES!!! DEAD Metagross!!!
Claydol came in and walled. Buzzsaw counteracted Light Screen with Crunch SDef-decreases... but then Claydol got the Ancientpower boost. The damn thing couldn't actually do anything to Buzzsaw (Levitate>EQ), but BOY was it hard to kill. Got it down to the red... Full restore. Curse you, Steven. Eventually, it died to a crit Crunch (yay! : D).
Cradily wasn't so bad, Screech, Screech - Ancientpower boost!!! Damn it! Still, a couple of Earthquakes were enough to take it down after Steven Full Restored twice.
Bracer and Buzzsaw defeated the Champion!!! With the help of 40 Hyper Potions and an array of other medicines ^^'
Welcome to the hall of fame! Bracer lv 57 Buzzsaw lv 57
Vigoroth and Vibrava were an amazing team. I'm very proud of them.
I am a CHAMPION of this challenge ^^
Please, if anyone's still modding this - I'd appreciate my name on the list, because I'm very proud of this run : )
Alright,I had saved in Fuschia and soon found out I had already beaten cycling road, but not yet the eastern routes. So that's what I did first, and it took quite a while. After that, it was...
Koga Time! Actually the random Hypnos owned by random game trainers were a lot harder.
A few water routes (although I still have to beat the one between Cinnabar and Seafoam) and a very annoying Mansion later...
...I got another easy badge.
Blaine is weird. He had a sleeping Growlithe at Full HP out and used a Super Potion. And not only once. Later, Ponyta and Rapidash actually did something (didn't hurt much, because Snorlax had some Amnesias up), but against Arcanine, again: Full HP, Blaine uses a Super Potion. The hell? Can the human even do that, use Potions at Full HP?
The team. RBY is probably easy mode for this challenge, since there are just so many random trainers around (quite a few of them usually get ignored), minimizing the need for any grinding.
...and since the AI is not the smartest, the Elite 4 probably won't be that hard either, even with the slight level advantage (I estimate I will get my team to around level 57 by then) they'll have.
Well...this is how I normally play my games up until the strongest trainer (Blue 2nd round / Red / Steven / Barry), so...sign me up!
Player Name: Amore.
Game Played: HeartGold.
Progress:
Well, I've just downloaded my Mew, so I'm in Cherrygrove City, and it's looking like I'll end up with this at the moment:
Blaze
Quirky
Sunny Day
Solarbeam
Focus Blast
Eruption
Furr
Gentle
Sucker Punch
Dig
Return
U-Turn
I've decided not to plan my team, just catch pokemon and raise them if I feel like it...I think it'll be more fun that way (and if I start ditching them for new ones, the Elite Four should be interesting....)
Nevermind, I failed, I got stuck into a 5 minute battle between my Zubat and a Rattata...luckily, Supersonic saved me...so, yeah, I failed.
