Hi guys. I haven't been educated in a year or so. I want to start again. I have forgotten everything that I learn in a year of college. Right now I can't do anything but stay at home. Because my wife is about to go into labor in November 15 2010. So incase of emergencies I have to stay with her as much as I can. But I want to read something everyday of my life. I tried to read but I fall asleep. I got tired of playing games and do nothing all the time. I've tried to review some of my math, but its no good. So does anyone know a good book to read that isn't to long for starters? I've tried to read comic books that I brought long time ago. But I haven't gotten to it. I also heard that the left behind series are good.

Children's classics can be fairly short and easy to read.

Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz, and Charlotte's Web were all easy and straightforward while still rather short. (Around 200 pages) Plus they might be even easier to read if you're familiar with the stories in their movie form. I also used to read the Magic Tree house books when I was really young and those are only about 70 pages long. They may not be the most grown up of books, but they're an easy read and a nice start.

Plus, if you're going to have a kid children's books would be a good thing to get used to. Reading to your kid before they sleep ftw.

I have one children's classic from a long time ago. It is stuart little. I haven't touch it or either to bother to pick it up and read it. I'll start with that book first. Once I finished that book I'll go on with another book.

some good books to read:

1. The Giver
--- by Lois Lowry
----- not too long, pretty easy to read, a good book

2. The Call of the Wild
--- by Jack London
(it's not too long. it's a pretty good book. I'm reading it
because I read the book below and loved it. the call of the wild and the book below kind of go together, even though the plots are not related. you might not like this one as much as the book below because there's
a lot of description stuff which you may not like. but it's still a good book)

3. White Fang
--- by Jack London
(like I said, I read this book first even though the call of the wild was somehow supposed to be before it, but anyway I loved this book. you should definitely give it a try)

~~~~~ Alright. The above titles are all fiction, but like realistic fiction. They're all good books. The titles below are fantasy fiction books. But they're still good books too. I actually think you'll like these more then the above ones. ~~~~~
4. Harry Potter 1-7
--- by J.K. Rowling
(these books are pretty big, BUT they are very good books. they are very easy to get hooked to and you'll not want to put the book down. if you need something to read without being boring, I VERY STRONGLY suggest you read the harry potter books. you'll love them.)
5. Eragon, Eldist, Brisingr, ???
--- by Christopher Paolini
(here's another fantasy series. the series is still in progress, that's why I put ??? for the last book; there's supposed to be four books but only three are released yet. Paolini is almost finished with book 4, and it's supposed to be released in 2011. I had the first book in my house for almost two years and never read it because I didn't think I'd like it, but then I decided to read the first chapter and got hooked and then read them all. now I love the books)
The books I think you'll like the most and/or should read first:
1) [The Giver] because it's pretty short, easy to read, interesting, and will get you into reading.
4) [the Harry Potter books] because you'll love them. I'd put them first but they're big and you might want to start off with a smaller book (3)
5) [Eragon, etc] these are really good books too. I love them
3) [White Fang] because it's a really good book (you don't have to read 2 first because the two books really have nothing to do with each other, even though this is supposedly a sequel). I'd put this farther up but the other books are just better.
2) [The Call of the Wild] still a pretty good book but you'll like the other ones more. I thruthfully only put this on this list because you'll be curious what the preceding book before white fang (3) was after you've read it
I personally found the Harry Potter series an easier read than The Giver, especially the first three books, which were around the same length as The Giver. Though Books 4-7 of the Harry Potter series are all quite large, the spacing on their pages makes them much easier reads than other books their size.
