I'd be fine with no graphical updates. I like how it looks. Except for the original SMB and Lost Levels. I don't think they SNES graphics captured the same feeling as the original games and those two titles shouldn't have identical graphics - they did look different from one another on the Famicom. That's the only one graphical change I'd want. ...Except for adding the gloves in SMB3 that were present on the Advance remake.

Anyway, I'm disappointed. I had what I thought was realistic expectations for this game. Essentially:

Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2: For Super Player's, Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario World at a minimum (there was All-Stars+World on the SNES, but we're not even getting that :c). They would be essentially their SNES remakes, but with a few changes. But, yeah. That's the minimum. I want SML and SML2 to get some love.

The first change I'd want want would be the SMB and SMB2J graphical changes I mentioned already.

I'd also want to see the enhancements we got on the GBA. So, for SMB2 we'd get the Yoshi Challenge, point system, graphical changes, and Ace Coins. SMB3 would have World-e and its associated features; also, Luigi's physics. SMW would let you play as Luigi and recoloured Yoshi (no orange arms) and Bowser (now has orange skin).

SMB and SMB2J would have their physics fixed. If hackers can do it. Then so can Nintendo. It's a bug and if it isn't even addressed in this port then I'll be even more disappointed. Anyway, I would have liked to see features from the GBC's Super Mario Bros. Deluxe implemented for these two titles - like Red Coins and Yoshi Eggs.

I think that would have been manageable. Basically toned down ports of GBA titles (so... no annoying voices, bad colours, or any features that I didn't mention because they weren't really improvements). I would have been happy. I would have bought the game. A straight SNES port is lazy, lazy, lazy.

Yeah, I read about this, and a true celebration would have been all Super Mario platform games from Super Mario Bros up to Super Mario 64 (Not Sunshine seeing as you can get that quite easily and play it on the Wii).

As much as I love the Mario platformers, I won't be getting it considering I have almost all of them on handheld.

I definitely recall owning this for the SNES way back in the day. Which means that with no graphical updates this better be a $5-$10 budget title, and even that might be pushing it. Especially considering most Mario fans probably have at least one version of all of the included games in some other format.

Yeah, so thanks, Nintendo. [/sarcasm]

I swear you can buy all those games in the Virtual Shop by like... $/€20? ._.

If they aren't giving anything else, I'd save it as a bonus for the next big Wii release this year or in 2011.

But still. I have the whole SMB series + World 1 and 2 on my GBA ._. I could buy them for a really cheap price for my Wii, and in Europe, we can even trade the star points that come with each game for Wii points... so three games = a NES game.

Was this game necessary?

Well SMB and Lost Levels (was that released outside of Japan?) weren't the SNES remakes on the GBA. Which was probably a good thing lol I didn't like the graphical style, screwed up physics, the audio was okay except for the overworld theme remix, and yeah. Not the best of all the titles that were in the original All-Stars.

I wish I bought Super Mario Bros. Deluxe on the GBC.

If you're going to post something on a release, don't miss out crucial details to make it look bad.

The game is a tribute to the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. and will be packaged with Super Mario History 1985-2010, a booklet that tells about Mario's history, and a CD with many Mario game soundtracks from Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, New Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and finally Super Mario Galaxy 2.
I mean, heaven forbid that they re-release one of the most popular Mario titles of all time for his 25th birthday. But look, they are giving you something neat with it.

So stop complaining and enjoy one of the best video game characters hitting a milestone that 25 years ago no one would have imagined him hitting while still being as popular as he is.

Well now, if the game is going to be packaged with neat extras like those, it might be worth a look after all. And yeah, the extras might be nice to know about before handing judgment on the game.

Heck, I'd probably buy it just for the soundtrack CD.

Yeah, but the extras aren't the game.

I don't care what extras they have. The book is interesting? But what's so special about the CD? Here's the compilation they released for the 20th anniversary: http://vgmdb.net/album/1890 And here's the SMB, SMB3, and SMW compilation: http://vgmdb.net/album/533 Here's another compilation: http://vgmdb.net/album/422 Maybe if they release the SuperNES remixes I'd be interested as those have never been released.

Regardless, the extras don't change the fact they are porting a SuperNES game to the Wii. Not re-releasing it on the DS. Not sending it to the Virtual Console. Porting it the SuperNES. And not even the "All-Stars+World" version that once existed. No extra content or changes to my knowledge.

The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition was free.

I think it isn't coming out in the US anyway so you can't play it.

I have never played Super Mario All-Stars but can you save in it? I know you can't save on the NES games because I have them on Virtual Console. If you can save then I would buy it if it came out here because I have never beaten Super Mario Bros. I think it is a bad game because you can't save and Mario doesn't jump properly.

You can save in All-Stars. You'll continue at the start of the world. Lost Levels is the only game in the compilation where you can save and continue for the specific level you were on.

And if you don't like Mario's physics on the original SMB, maybe you'll like the glitched physics on the All-Stars version then lol

My SNES is less that 10 feet from my Wii, and I have All-Stars + World for it, so if this released in NA for the $30 that it's going for in Japan, I don't think it'd be up my alley. Bonus items, p-shaw. Not worth the money.
