I never really listened to music much as a kid. The only times I can remember are during car rides, but that was just country music because my mom's sort of a hick. No offense to any country fans! But nowadays I listen to most every genre of music, though my favorite is easily rock, rap coming in at a close second. Anybody here listen to Kid Cudi? He's definitely my favorite artist.

I don't even live in a rural area. :( She was really into it though, not sure about now as I never drive with her anymore and it hasn't come up in conversation so.. yeah. It's not that I don't like country it's just like you said, very repetitive. Being serious I couldn't tell what song was which after listening to the same station for months. And you should definitely give Kid Cudi a listen, just send me a visitor message if you want some youtube links.

i've lived on "da streets of Chicago" for a bit, now i'm living in the peaceful but boring suburbs of Texas. grew up in the countryside though, and that's the kind of area i prefer out of the three

Luckyyy. I've always lived in the city, it's sort of depressing to see myself get so excited when we go on vacation to the mountains JUST because we'll be out of the city, when there are people who get to experience it every single day and don't give it a second thought. I guess that's sort of a good thing, that I can still appreciate it for what it is, but that doesn't change the fact that I'd like to see it a lot more. Oh well I'll just find a nice mountain background for my desktop, lol.

yep, chicago's p rough. i moved before i got a chance to really experience the pangs of "thug lyf" and all that there.

stratos- i lovelovleovel the mountains! little mountain towns are so curious, they have these awesome, obscure little shops and the people who live in them carry a particular vibe thats difficult to describe. but i love anywhere that 's different from where i live, i get really stir-crazy, i need a continuous change in scenery

Yup. Nobody understands what goes on there unless they've been there.

I was raised in an exurban area (meaning that it's a suburban town but it's typically 5 miles or more to the next town).

Why are you so weird. old school Eminem = my childhood.
Ditto. Sorta. Unless we go back to before I was 11. Then I was more into pop music.

is it just me or is eminem's face really...awkward especially when he's looking directly into the camera

Spoiler:
He's always looked awkward in photos.

I don't really like old school Eminem, I like the 2010 version Eminem better :D
Meh. He's not intentionally pissing off enough people in 2010. He's doing too much of that money rap crap now that everyone's into.

Dude I know exactly what you mean. Every summer me and my family go to New England since we have a lot of family there, and two of my favorite places we go during our stay is New Hampshire and Maine. I don't even know what it is about Maine to be honest, I love sitting on the top of a hill while the fog is out, looking down on all of the farmland sprawled out in front of you. It's pretty amazing and I'm a sucker for views so theirs no denying how much I love it. And yeah the mountains are a thing of their own, I love going to North Conway in New Hampshire. I know what you mean about the shops as well. All along the main street they've got shops for the most ridiculous things that you normally wouldn't give a care about. There was this one rock shop that has fossils, necklaces and just a whole lot of specialized junk like that, that I make sure we check in at every year.

"is it just me" or are a lot of rappers these days acknowledging their fame and expressing their indulgence in it

stratos: lucky :C id love to visit the north-north portion of america, ive only been to illinois and colorado. but i know what you mean about the high up views, seeing land from the mountaintops is absolutely incredible, especially at dusk when the sky is orange and you can see the land below and really vague city lights from far away. the stunningness of nature is truly underestimated

Rappers are very guilty of that. Much more so than they were even 5 years ago, when the trend caught on.

And I marvel at all the expansive views around me every time I'm not driving and am looking out a window. Though you can't see much when the corn stalks are ready to be harvested. XD;

Yeah, they obsess over their fame.
It's fair enough. I'd probably sing or talk about myself as well if I'd gotten to the "top". It's definitely not something to get annoyed about though, it's as easy as switching the song when it comes on. If you're forcing yourself to listen to it then I'm guessing you want to complain about it for one reason or another. Still beyond that, if somebody was forcing you to listen to it I think the only expression that'd be genuine is that of you just not liking it. Getting annoyed by or hating a song seems cheesy to me and it's usually the hipsters who complain about people not being open minded when it comes to music who are the first to shut down rap in it's entirety from listening to what isn't even the surface of it.

i can understand that narcissistic themes get annoying to some people, they're oversimplified and overdone. no one was complaining about the entire genre of hip-hop, just the more obnoxious rappers who like to boast about their success.
