Prolougue: The Eruption

It started out as a rainy, wet, and cold day in the heart of the Hoenn region. No one was in the hot springs, and everyone and everything down to the last Pikachu stayed inside. In the Jagged Pass, a hiker noticed a peculiar scent. It smelled of sulphur and smoke. He turned his head, and saw the most horrible thing. A large river of molten lava was rushing down the path. Swiftly, he accelerated to Lavaridge Town, where everyone, person and Pokmon alike, loafed in their houses. The hiker, named Dennis, dashed from door to door warning everyone of the eruption. The citizens of the small mountainside village used ground-types like Numel to keep the lava, which has made it's final destination the small town of Lavaridge Town, at bay. All buildings seemed to stay out of the way of the mess...
... except for the gym. Although each structure had a thick wall of dirt, ash and rocks protecting them from the molten rock, the gym wasn't prepared one bit. Everyone watched it start to burn, and eventually sink into the sea of fire. No one could believe their eyes as the last visible part of the gym disappeared under the hot molten lava.

Ch. 1: Three years later...

It was three years after the eruption. The lava that brought panic to Lavaridge has cooled, and the gym has moved into the side of the mountain, with a gym leader using ice Pokmon. Not much of the townsfolk speak of the eruption, though it is brought up from time-to-time. Our story begins with the two strongest trainers in Lavaridge, Sam and Laura. They were two of the many people in Lavaridge who saw the Lavaridge Gym get crushed by molten rock. We begin with a battle between our hero and heroin:

Sam's Tyranitar roars, and slams the ground with its tail, ready for battle, and Laura's Aggron, roars just as load, and beats its chest in supremecy.
Laura: Aggron! Shock Wave!
A spark appeared between Aggron's horns. A thunderbolt shoots up from Aggrons horns into the sky. The bolt then fires back down to the ground, and so on, until the bolt hits Tyranitar. Tyranitar screeches in pain. Vibrating from the blow, Tyranitar slouches, then looks up at Aggron with a flame in it's eyes.
Sam: Crunch!
Tyranitar lunges at Aggron with it's mouth wide open. It strikes, its fangs sinking deep into the steel armor of Aggron.
Laura: Iron Tail! Now!
Aggron's giant tail begins to shine. Aggron picks its tail up, winds it back, dashes at Tyranitar, and slams him right in the chest. Tyranitar rolls backwards until he regains control.
Sam: Time to retaliate. Dragon Claw!
Tyranitar, battered and bruised, bears its claws, which begin to glow. Tyranitar starts accelerating toward Aggron, leaving a streak of light behind the claw. Tyranitar jumps, flips once, and falls toward Aggron with its claws outstretched. The attack hits with devastating impact. Aggron flies backwards, landing unconscious.
The battle ends with Tyranitar. Tyranitar celebrates by roaring prominently.

After the battle, the two trainers sent back their Pokmon and complimented each other's tactics.
Sam: Interesting style. That Aggron is well trained.
Laura *blushes* : Umm.. Thanks. Your Tyranitar is very powerful. It must've taken a long time to train.
Sam: Oh, not really. Just have to train in all the right places.

Pretty soon, Sam and Laura went to their homes, where Laura will get a suprise.

Ch. 2: Moving, and the Cavern

Laura was greeted at the door by her mom. She listened to what she had to say:
Laura's Mom: Laura. I think I need to tell you something.
Laura: What is that.
Laura's Mom: We're moving.
Laura stopped dead, and fell backwards. She came to in her bed at midnight. She wondered what happened, then fell back to sleep
The very next day, Sam got up unusually early. He didn't pay any attention to the trucks and Pokmon aiding Laura and her mom in packing and moving. It was cold, and miserable. Sam walked on the rock slab that the gym once stood like he did everyday to train. He felt that this was the best place to train. As soon as his Tyranitar made contact with the ground, the rock slab collapsed. sam and Tyranitar plummeted into an odd chasm, and blacked out.
When they came to, they were in an odd cavern. Tyranitar scratched a few cuts and broken pieces of its armor, and walked to a strange rock formation. It was large, rectangular, and it had a strange hole in it. It was very narrow, but Tyranitar hastily beat at it with his tail until it could be walked into. When they did, they gazed at an array of scorched wood, steel, and fossilized walls which had been soaked in lava. Tyranitar crushed the walls, revealing more rooms. That's when they heard it...
Magcargo!
There was a Pokmon in that odd formation. It was obviously a Magcargo. Then he heard another one:
Rupt! Camerupt!
Sam had a thought. What if I could catch these Pokmon? He quickly followed the sounds of battle. Tyranitar was smashing the walls with his large tail. Just when Tyranitar was about to smash the final wall, they both heard a familiar voice speaking:
All right, Camerupt. That'll do for now...

To be continued...

Ch. 3: Former Gym Leader Leaves Lavaridge

Tyranitar pulled his large tail away from the rock wall. He then punched a hole in the rock. The trainer in question stopped, turned her head, but continued to command her Camerupt, which had been apparently digging for something, as there was a giant whole in the middle of the room. Sam looked into the small hole opened by Tyranitar, but he couldn't believe what he gazed upon. It was an impossible sight. It was Flannery. Her jeans were tattered at the bottom, and she was abnormally thin, pale, and covered in soil and soot, but it was Flannery. Sam shot backwards instantly, his heart beating very rapidly. He kept thinking, This is impossible. How could she survive for three years in an enclosed structure without food or water? Finally, Tyranitar broke the entire wall open, and a sign of hope appeared in the former gym leader's eyes. Sam and Tyranitar ran toward Flannery, and began to ask questions:
Sam: How could you have survived down here for so long? Everyone thinks you're dead.
Flannery: Someone like me would know how to handle something like this. It started when the lava rushed into the center of the gym. I had Torkoal, Camerupt, and Slugma try to keep the lava at bay. They did very well in this act. I tried to stay in a safe spot, trying to keep the fumes away. Eventually, the gym collapsed into this cave
Sam: What about food or water?
Flannery: While trying to dig my way out of this mess, Torkoal and Camerupt found a strange root. Torkoal tried it, and seemed to enjoy it. It has been my food source since, though I have to ration it. Camerupt also found a small spring where I now get my water. I guess that my survival story.
Sam was amazed at how resourceful Flannery could be. Tyranitar looked a little confused. Tyranitar grabbed Flannery, who was too weak to walk, and they left the gym. As soon as they got out, Flannery immediately recognized the territory.
Flannery: This is Fiery Path. Continue east, then go north, and we should see the light of day again. Eventually, after at least seventy wild Pokmon attacks, and a bit of wandering, they get out. They climb the cliffs and find themselves back in Lavaridge. One person saw them coming, then yelled something to the other houses. They began to charge at Flannery, relieved. She spent some time in what was left of the hot springs, had a large lunch, conversed with her friends, and eventually started to leave Lavaridge. Sam caught her just before leaping the ledges.
Sam: Where are you going, Flannery? You're back home.
Flannery: After being stuck in that mess, I feel like I need to see a little more. I'm going to the Cobalt Islands.
Sam: What?
Flannery: The Cobalt Islands. They're a chain of islands just underneath the Hoenn Region. I hear of a strange Pokmon living in the straits of the islands. I'd like to investigate.
With that last sentence, she jumped doen, and disappeared over the horizon.

Ch. 4: Following Flannery

Sam had noticed that Laura's house was totally empty. Sam felt very miserable. His friend had moved to Lugia knows where, and the most famous trainer in the town has left. Sam felt like sleeping the day away when his mom confronted him.
Sam's Mom: Hey, Sam.
Sam: Hey, Mom.
Sam's Mom: I hear that most of the people here are leaving to the Cobalt Islands.
Sam: So?
Sam's Mom: I've decided that we're going, too.
Sam felt a little better. The next day, they packed up, and left for the Cobalt Islands. They looked at a map of the Cobalts. They could have moved to Trop Isle, but I was too big and caught in the wrap of Team Emerald, in which the Cobalt Welcome Center had posters up for. Sam eyed Fiery Rock, which was in the far east, but they both decided on Newbie Island, a small island where nothing special ever happened. They loaded their stuff on a boat, and set off for Newbie Island. When they get there, they gazed upon a large lab, owned by Professer Pine, and two houses. They were to move into the one on the left of the island. They got the Pokmon to unpack their stuff. Since one of the Nidokings were still fixing the broken staircase that led to his room, Sam decided to introduce himself to the neighbors. He entered their house, and he thought what he saw was a fantasy. It was Laura and her mom, sitting at the table.
Laura: What're you doing here?
Sam: I moved in next door.
Laura's Mom: Really? How odd.
Sam left the house, and decided to go up to Rook Isle, the next island to the north of Newbie. He consulted his mom, and left for Rook. He had one thought going through his head: I should go look for Flannery. She said she's coming to the Cobalts. He walked to Rook Isle, but as soon as he got there, there was an explosion. He walked up to the place where the explosion took place, but was pushed aside by a man in a green uniform and bandana. Sam blacked out as soon as his head hit the ground. He awoke in his bed, and it was very late. he looked out his window, and fell back to sleep.

Well, to be the boring critic that I am, I should maybe talk about a few things:

Well, the intro builds up suspense and all though it's a bit vague in the way you expressed the introduction because I was confused half way through it. Well, I was a bit disappointed because I thought that you were going to be using prose writing all the way but then you went on to script form. I must tell you now that script form isn't always the best form of writing. It deprives the story of the best parts such as description, point of view, etc. And also, the chapters are short. Maybe you should do something like 3-5 pages in Microsoft Word?

Well, all I can say is that I'm hoping for an improvement.

If it kills the fanfic that much, I'll try another way.

Ch. 5: The Path to Trop Isle

In the morning, Sam woke up to the TV turned on. He went downstairs and asked his mom, What's up?
She replied, 'Something happened on Rook Isle. A small house was destroyed in an explosion. Luckily, no one was hurt.'
After breakfast, Sam stopped by the lab. On the way there, Sam's cell phone began to ring. Sam hastily answered, Hello?
The person on the other end was Flannery,' Hey. It's been a while hasn't it? I suppose you're wondering why I called. I have an update on the mysterious Pokmon. I saw a photo. It's at least sixty feet long, and it has three horns, two pointing backward, and one pointing foward. It has four fins, and tough armored spots on it's back. If it were up to me, I'd say it's an evolution of Lapras, but I'm not exactly sure.'
Sam replied, 'Sounds dangerous. Are you still looking for it?'
'Sure I am. I just have to keep my distance, though I'm planning to catch one.'
'Excuse me? I thought you trained fire-types like Torkoal?'
'That doesn't matter right now. Talk to ya later. By the way, I ordered a Master Ball from Ember Corp. on Trop Isle. Can you get it for me?'
'Sure. Bye.'
'Bye'
After the conversation, Sam hung up and entered the lab. Sam told Prof. Pine about what happened on Rook Isle, and about the strange Pokmon. He also asked about Trop Isle, 'Where is Trop Isle?'
Prof. Pine replied, 'From Rook, go to the west, and you'll find yourself on Lucky Rock. Head west from there, and go north at the coast. Head through the Undersea Cave, and across the lake. From there, go up and you'll be on Trop.'
'Thanks'
Sam left the lab, and was on Lucky Rock by noon. Sam just then remembered that his father, Mastron, ran a gym there. Sam decided to stop by the gym and pay his father a visit. When he walked in, a battle was underway:
Pikachu! Thunder!
Pikachu's cheeks began to glow, and a large thunderbolt strikes Mastron's Swalot. It slides backwards, but comes back, ready for a retaliation
Swalot! End this with a Sludge Bomb!
The Swalot opened its giant mouth, and launched a giant wad of poison at the Pikachu, striking it hard. The poison bursts on impact, immobolizing the Pikachu.
The battle ends with Mastron's Swalot.
Ash goes and frees Pikachu, and dashes off. Soon after, Mastron notices his son, 'Hey, Sam.'
Sam greets him, 'Hey, Dad.'
'What's going on in the gym?'
'Oh, I just beat an annoying boy named Ash.'
'I see.'
'So, what's happening to you, Sam?'
'Oh, just going to Trop Isle'
'Why?'
'I'm retrieving a package for my friend.'
'Who, Laura?'
'No. Someone named Flannery. She was the Lavaridge Gym Leader at one point.'
'I thought she was...'
'No. She survived that.'
'I see.'
After the conversation, Sam left for the Undersea Cave, a cavern that leads the traveler under the strait, and onto the other island. He walked across the coast, and entered the cave reluctantly.

Ch. 6: The Undersea Cave, and a Bug Beating

Sam was never too fond of caves, let alone ones under the water with the chance of collapsing under the force of water pressure. He shuddered at the sound of water dripping, but he still continued foward. As soon as he walked in, a minion of Team Emerald dashed out of the end that Sam entered from. He was holding a Pok Ball-sized box with a flame on it, and the letters EMC in front of that. Sam didn't care about getting to Trop Isle then, just stopping the Grunt. Sam threw the Premier Ball that holds Tyranitar at the Team Emerald Grunt. It struck him right in the back of the skull, knocking him down. Tyranitar came out in a blast of light, and Sam walked over to the Grunt saying, 'What'r you up to?'
The Grunt replied, 'None of your business.'
'What is that box for?'
'It's just a Master Ball. Why?'
Sam examined it a little closer.
To: a Ms. Flannery M.
Courtesy of Ember Corporation.
'Where did you get this?'
'Okay. I snatched it from a messenger.'
Tyranitar snatched the box, and kicked the Grunt into the water.
Sam called back his trusty armored beast and tried to go back into the cave without interruption. Finally, he left the cave, and headed for Trop Isle. When he got there, he had an urge to challenge the Gym Leader, Eric. He entered the gym. There, he saw the leader, whom looked more like a bug maniac than anyone else. Eric spoke, 'So, you want to challenge me?'
Sam replied, 'Duh!'
They sent out there Pokmon, and the battle began.

Eric's Beedrill emerged from the ball, stingers and all.
Sam's Tyranitar makes a loud appearance, roaring his head off.
Tyranitar! Rock Slide!
Tyranitar stomps the ground, making some stones on the roof fall on Beedrill, who swiftly dodges them.
*yawn* Beedrill, Twineedle.
Beedrill bombards Tyranitar with it's two twin stingers. Tyranitar is a dark type, making him vunerable to the bug. Tyranitar is tossed across the room with one final thrust of it's stingers.
Tyranitar lands on the ground, outcold.
This battle belongs to Erics Beedrill!

Suprised, Sam rushes to the nearest Pokmon center to heal his fallen ally.

Ch. 7 Embarassment, Leaky Cave Training, and the Rematch

Sam felt like that loss ruined his career as a trainer. He sat in the PokCenter, his head on the table until Nurse Joy asked him, 'Why the long face?'
Sam replied, 'My Tyranitar lost to a Beedrill.'
Nurse Joy commented, 'If it was Eric's, then you're not alone. I've seen Seahyds lose to that thing.'
'Seahyd?'
'Oops! I've said too much already.'
With that remark, Nurse Joy got back to work, but she said one last thing, 'Eric's motto is, "If my Beedrill doesn't beat ya, my Masquerain will." Remember that.'
Sam left the PokCenter for another underwater tunnel called Leaky Cave. Sam didn't like the way it sounded. Leaky Cave was supposed to be a tunnel linking Trop Isle and Pasture Island, but before the final touch could be done, the workers noticed leaking. The leak has elevated to a full-blow rain-effect. Water Pokmon now call the cave home. This didn't stop Sam. He crossed the bridge onto the island. He slowly entered the cave. The brochure was correct. It was raining inside the cave. Once inside, he had Tyranitar beat up on any wild Pokmon he met. Sam and his companion spent almost a day training in there. After leaving the cave, Sam challenged a few powerful trainers. Tyranitar bulldozed over all of them. Sam knew he was ready.
Sam walked into the gym once more. Eric greeted him, 'You're back. Oh, come on.'
All Sam had to say was, 'Bring it on, Spanky.'
With that, the battle began.
Sam's Tyranitar, willing as always, roars his head off again.
Eric gets out his Beedrill.
Tyranitar! Try Rock Slide again!
This time, Tyranitar jumps up, and thrusts himself downward, causing half the roof to collapse on Beedrill.
Beedrill, Come back!
Go, Masquerain!
The blue bug, flapping it's little wings, looked angry for its fallen comrad.
Masquerain! Bubblebeam!
Masquerain launches an array of thick bubbles, which burst forcefully on impact with Tyranitar. Tyranitar is forced backwards, but makes a recovery.
Tyranitar! Use Dragon Claw!
Tyranitar's claws begin to glow, and he begins to swing them at Masquerain. Masquerain dodges all of the blows attempted by Tyranitar.
Go! Masquerain, Silver Wind!
Masquerain flaps its wings and antennae very rapidly, causing a powdery breeze to blow. The powder causes Tyranitar to itch all over.
Tyranitar! No! Tyranitar! Try a Crunch!
Tyranitar launches himself at Masquerain. His fangs cause serious damage to Masquerain, ultimately beating it.

I'm just going to write Ch. 8, then I'm logging off. I'm not in a good mood right now. Leave the criticism for when I shake off my anger/depression.:( :disappoin :tired: :'(

Ch. 8 Reunion

Sam left the gym, and got out his cell phone, and dialed Flannery's number. After the third ring, she answered, "Hello?"
Sam began,"Hey! I have your Master Ball. I caught someone from Team Emerald trying to run off with it."
Flannery replied, "I'm not suprised. That cost a ton of money."
Sam continued, "Where should I meet you?
"There's a cave over by Beachside. I'm training my new Cyndaquil there."
"Wha...?"
"I found it abandoned by the Beachside gym."
"I wonder why such a rare Pokmon would be tossed aside like that?"
"They started to appear by Landing Isle. By the way, do you still have the Heat Badge I gave you four years ago?"
Sam reached into his backpack, and pulled out a small case. He opened it, revealing the eight Hoenn League Badges, but the Heat Badge, dusty and covered in cobwebs, hung from the roof of the case. Sam blew it off and answered Flannery's question," Yeah, why?"
Flannery spoke," Don't lose it. I need to see when we meet again."
"Okay. I guess I'll see you in the cave."
After a couple good byes, Sam walked up to the edge of the island. He looked at something he didn't noitice before. It was an accessable strait. He could've had Tyranitar Surf, instead of going into the cave. Sam felt totally stupid for this discovery. He tries it out, and yells in anger again for not discovering it sooner. He walks up to the coast, the Premier Ball holding Tyranitar in hand. He throws it, and Tyranitar is freed. Sam hops on Tyranitar, and they set off. Everything was going smoothly, until a strange serpent arose from the water. The produced wakes made Sam loose his balance instantly. He toppled into the water, and tried to stayed awake, but all failed.
He woke up on a beach, and a figure looming over him. Sam sat up, and the figure pulled back, who turned out to be Laura. She yelled out to the crowd, "He's okay!"
The crowd cheered, and they cleared up eventually. Sam found Tyranitar, standing by Laura, who started to talk, "Your Tyranitar saved your life. He went under and retrieved you. You surely would've drown if it wasn't for your companion."
Soon enough, a girl with long brown hair walked up to the couple. "Im Erin, the Gym Leader here." she said in a bright tone, " You're a very lucky person. I was thinking later we could have a battle."
Sam blushed a bit, and Laura started to look a little angry. Jealousy? Who knows. Erin retreated back to the Beachside Gym. "How many badges do you have?" Laura queried, "I have three."
She flashed a badge from Sam's father, Eric, and Erin. She then sent out Aggron, who walked into the water. Laura boarded her Pokmon, and left for Pier Isle.
Sam headed to the north, where the cave was supposed to be. He located the entrance, and slowly walked in. He continued down the path, and ran off into a corner, and watched something suspicious. A woman with light-emerald colored hair, and two Emerald Men were standing around a Blaziken, who was apparently digging for something. Sam was able to make out their leader's speech," Guys, are you sure it's here?"
One of the Grunts replied,"It should be. I saw her run down this path, and she dropped something right here."
One of the Grunts noticed Sam standing there. That's when an Ariados shot a net of silk at Sam. The Ariados pulled Sam to the center of the group. The woman walked up to Sam, who was on the ground under the net, and began to interrogate," What are you doing here?"
Sam remained silent.
The woman kicked Sam, and commanded,"Answer me! What are you doing here, Samuel?"
Sam appeared shocked, "How do you know my name?"
The woman replied,"You were the one who became Champion after defeating the Elite Four of Evergrande, gaining the championship from that one guy."
"What guy?"
"His name isn't important right now. You should know that I am Emma, Leader of Team Emerald. I understand you have all eight Hoenn League Badges. The thing is, I'm looking for some badges. I have in my possesion an Earth Badge, a Mineral Badge, and a Rising Badge. These badges are a lot more than meets the eye. They together, unlock something, but I'm missing one. Now, I trust you have, let's say, A Heat Badge?"
With that last phrase, Sam began struggling like he never struggled before. His side stung horribly, most likely because of the kick delivered to him. Emma's Blazikem started burning the net off of Sam, slightly burning his skin. As soon as the net burned almost all the way off, Sam made a break for it. He was still in pain, and the Blaziken was swift. Just when he thought all was lost, A Arcanine shot by and cut the Blaziken off. That's when some officers dashed into the cave. The head officer told Sam,"Continue through the cave. We can handle these goons."
Sam escaped into the next room, where Flannery stood with her Quilava, (Her Cyndaquil obviously evolved.) and was shouting commands to it. Sam walked in, with the Master Ball, and Heat Badge in hand. Flannery turned around, and saw Sam walk in. After Sam gave her the goods, she spoke, "Thanks. I can't think about what would happen if Team Emerald got their hands on this stuff."
But, Sam still couldn't help but asking, "What is Team Emerald's motive?"
Flannery answered,"World domination, pure and simple. They plan to capture Rayquaza, and use its power to reshape the planet in their likings. The badges are vital for the capture, because they are said to be the five badges that were distributed at a league held along the Sky Pillar. The legend states that the owner of all five badges can open a secret room in the Tyrant Cave northeast of Emerald Island. In the room is the secret to summoning Groudon and Kyogre, and putting them under the trainer's control, making that trainer invincible. Emma could command them to fight until Rayquaza is summoned."
Sam has heard these legends before, but never believed them. Afterwards, Sam left the Beachside Cave, and headed for Erin's Gym.
