Small spelling errors don't bother me much, I mean everyone makes them, right? If I come across a major spelling post/thread I can usually spell it out with a little aggravation. I don't like how friends correct my spelling errors usually it's annoying, but If I do happen to make any spelling error, I'd usually put a * with the correction before a friend starts complaining/noticing about it. Now, I don't have many friends who do this, so it's alright I guess.

I only ever point out:

A) Completely obvious things that everyone should know and look like complete fools for screwing up:
-- "Too", "You're", etc.
B) Difficult words that the person seems to be struggling on and attempted to type out, but misspelled.
-- "(I didn't spell that right.)" "Oh, it's spelled ______"
C) When someone incessantly spells a word wrong and is clearly not aware that they're misspelling repeatedly.

I try not to be mean about B or C. As for A, well, I just think your an idiot who is to stupid to live.

To be perfectly honest, I like it when people point out my spelling errors, because I can use that opportunity to learn the proper spelling, and become an all around better person, because as we all know, Grammar Nazis are a real threat that will soon take over the world, and execute anyone who hasn't perfected their primary language.

Yes, bad grammar on the internet irks me. While on one hand I'll be thinking about the person's post and whether or not it is appropiate to the topic, on the other hand I'll be thinking "YOU MISSPELLED or USED THE WRONG THEY'RE/YOUR/TO/IT'S etc. But I usually don't say anything about that; everyone makes mistakes. *hopes this post isn't contradicting itself*

The main Grammar issue I find annoying is 'a lot', but that's because it's became a pet peeve or mine. When someone puts 'a' and 'lot' together, I can't help but bluntly tell them that it's two words. Any other grammar issue, though, I try to keep it to myself, unless they do it constantly. That, or I'll subtly or directly (nicely) tell them that it's 'You're' instead of 'your', or 'their' instead of 'there'.

Main reason why I try to let it slide, though, is due to the fact that I tend to make grammar issues myself, as in using the wrong 'whether' (I was putting 'weather' instead. Blame me for wanting to become a meteorologist.)

I've stopped giving people spelling / grammar advice ever since my encounter over YouTube and an MMO, about arguments based over the issue. D;

Basically, these kids were like "Why do people type like this? It doesn't make you look anymore intelligent. i c it as a big ol' waste of time. makes u look dumb. lyk u got nothin' better 2 do then waste time typin lyk dat over a comp game. lol loser. bet ur 38 and livin wit ur mom at home"

Of course there was the team of grammar nazi arguing with them about how wrong they were, but they were fighting a losing battle. People who want to type that way will type that way, and nothing most people say will change their minds. Granted, if someone makes one or two spelling mistakes, I don't even think to comment on it, because it could just be a typo. Although, lucky there are some people who will take spelling advice as constructive criticism, and that's always nice.

Chatspeak is annoying to read when it's on a forum rathr than say a casual msn convo for me - I don't really wish to try and have to interpret words so I understand what someone is actually trying to say. Mere typos though which happen often (especially with me XD) are fine and shouldn't warrent mention - everyone makes mistakes. Sure, if it's a consistent error then that's a different story, or say a chapter for a fanfic, etc.

The main Grammar issue I find annoying is 'a lot', but that's because it's became a pet peeve or mine. When someone puts 'a' and 'lot' together, I can't help but bluntly tell them that it's two words.

I do not correct people unless they ask me (new to English or something). I tend to make lots of grammatical errrs lik ths. But usually it is a mistake. I also will just tell people to use correct grammar because now I dislike peple takng liek tis.

I do it, but focus on the "advice" bit. ADVICE does not mean quoting and correcting every last typo in a post. Advice does not mean correcting tiny, obviously accidental mistakes. Advice is pointing out pretty major problems that actually detract from the readability of a passage, like a disregard for the Enter key or a lack of knowledge of the English language.

Also, I only ever do it where people should have the time to write things up (ie. forums, email), not where they have an excuse to type fast (ie. MMOs where people are training as they talk).
Everything ends,
and that's always sad.
But everything begins again, too,
and that's always happy.

I'm pretty sure im repeating half you people, but maybe not....

I don't really try to type correctly...some people say it makes you look unintelligent if you make these mistakes...but what about ppl who want to save time (me) or have english as a second language (me again)

I don't think strangers should correct you as that seems plain old rude.. i mean...does anyone want to look like an idiot in front of some1 you don't know? But if they're friends they should just so you know so you don't make the mistake in front of a stranger. Finally, people shouldn't correct people while making mistakes themselves. personally i never correct any1.

Thank you for listening to, in the grand scheme of things, pointless repetitive argument! :)

I don't tend to correct on things such as threads in Other Chat, as I feel it unnecessary as I know what they are saying, and it is human error, which is common.

But if it was in a thread where someone presents something, then I would, so as to boost the image that they know what they are talking about. It really does wow people if they had no errors. This goes for Game Making, ROM Hacking and Art Threads (though the latter and former is rare for me to enter. The middle isn't though)

I can get past reading through typos pretty easily. So I don't make it a mission of mine to go out of my way and tell someone they spelled something wrong. Plus I'm never sure how to word it without coming off rude. I've seen a few times member's here correct others as a form of belittlement. Which I haven't seen it in a while, but it's uncalled for nevertheless. Typos are just a natural part of communicating online. Sometimes you just miss a letter and other times you're just not the best at spelling. It's no reason to get your panties in a bunch~
