I'm keeping an eye on some of the high school setting series as long as they don't turn into some type of demon/zombie/vampire/spirit -hunting series or get too fanservice-heavy.

I'm not going to commit to anything till I see what others have to say, though.

Try Anohana.

Speaking of which... I don't know why but.. I cried! MENMA...! The cornyness of it all, happy, then sad, then happy again. CRAAAAP. MENMAAAA! T________T

I started crying when the ending song started playing. it was like my tears just suddenly burst up. ;_;

I'm debating on whether or not I should finish that or not. I hear it's forced drama lulz.

Also, lol [C]
Spoiler:
"YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BLAH BLAH. YOU WOULD'VE DONE THE SAME THING IF YOU WERE IN MY POSITION" shenanigans. This whole series was just "wat", but that ending was just pitiful.

And the conclusion. "There is plenty of future here." What does that even mean? What was the point of this show? Everybody's right? I don't even know. Aaaaaaaah.

Finished up Kamen Rider Kiva, and it was pretty good. The ending bored me a bit, but it was still pretty interesting. Which should I watch next? Hibiki, Kabuto or W?

I'm debating on what I should watch first, C, Ano Hi Mita, Hoshizora or Ore-tachi. Anyone have any suggestions?

And last but not least, Durarara!! is airing today on Adult Swim. Anyone have any comments about it?

@Char: I'd say none of the three Spring shows you've mentioned are worth it, but I have a personal vendetta against AnoHana and was disappointed at [C] since it didn't live up to my expectations. You'll probably enjoy the former. As for Durarara!!, it took a bit of time to start getting interesting but became a very fun show to watch. Oh hey, I just realized I switched to a Durarara!! avatar just now.

@jpp8: I told you. Mikuni is Paul Krugman and Kimimaro is Paul Ryan. This show is that deep.

Ah, I see, thanks for the info. I think I might just give them a shot seeing as I don't have any other anime to watch the moment. And as for Durarara!!, I've seen it, but I'm just wondering how it'll be in English dub. I'm hoping for the best, but a part of me is saying that they'll f up the voices. ;;

If you want a taste of the dub voices, Aniplex USA uploaded a few highlights on their Youtube. I'd say they're not bad, but not amazing either.
Sadly enough, I'm not able to view Youtube videos at the moment. ;;

Well, at least it isn't horrible...

Caught the second half of Durarara on Adult Swim last night after getting home late... the dub is okay, nothing special but nothing horrible either.

And no, it's not in my usual genres of series to watch, but with so few series being broadcast on TV nowadays, sometimes an otaku has to watch what an otaku has to watch, lol

Well said my friend. Aren't there any channels that specifically air Japanese shows or something? I remember having one a few years back on free preview or something but I can't remember the name of it. And if I do recall it had some anime on it, not a whole lot, but some that don't come on other channels.

I will probably have to rewatch it since I was busy at the time it was on AS last night. Hopefully they get some more new shows *Hopes for Soul Eater, Inuyasha Final Act, Hitman Reborn.* At least something to get AS going again

I wish there was cause I sure don't know if there is one in the US. As far as I can tell they have AS, the junk on Toonzai(Disney XD) and they used to have Ani-Monday on Sci Fi.

Lets see....

DRRR!, i'm planning on watching soon as I adored Baccano!

I'm enjoying AnoHana and C, I dropped and didn't even bother with the other two you mentioned.

Still no laptop. ;__;

Edit -

Downloaded and watched the last couple of AnoHana eps....As a fan of loldramam and lolemotion I have to admit i rather enjoyed that series, Fuko arc on steroids.

I'm reading and watching Exorcist, it's pretty good for a generic battle shonen. Easily takes Kekkaishi's place as my favourite series of it's type on my reading list. DGM is on my massive to watch list, looks fun. I'll probably get to Claymore before that though.

I saw the entire episode when it first came on Adult Swim, and I'd have to agree with that assessment. Of course, all the good roles (just Johnny Yong Bosch as Izaya and Steve Blum as Kyohei so far) were limited to bit parts. Of the people who actually had considerable amounts of dialogue, I'm not too impressed with either Darrel Guilbeau as Mikado or Bryce Papenbrook as Masaomi, though Brian Beacock as Walker, Mela Lee as Erika, and Patrick Seitz as Simon are actually pretty decent.

Also, bloopers. Again, Johnny Yong Bosch and Steve Blum are awesome. Crispin Freeman also has his moments.

I really wanna watch Ao no Exorcist. I can't be bothered reading the manga. Read the first chapter once and I immediately dropped it. Though, I also did the same with TWOGK and I love it now.

I never finished Clannad.

The end of C is like that? I hope it's not like Denpa Onna where it forgot the plot and focuses on moe.

In any of your guys' opinions, what would you say is the last truly great English dub of an anime? Not merely the last competent or even generally good dub, but Cowboy Bebop/Fullmetal Alchemist/Samurai Champloo/etc-tier dub? Did high VA standards for important anime go out the window with the mid-00s boom, or are there hidden gems relegated to DVD that few people are aware of? I'm honestly curious.

I don't usually watch dubbed anime, but the last one I did watch was One Piece by funimation, which I didn't mind. It just took me a while to get used to, considering I've seen what, 500 episodes in japanese, and became accustomed to their japanese voice actors. :P

Anyway, while I'm on the subject of One Piece, I actually really liked the last episode. If you watch it generally, you'd know that it's a good episode to watch, or at least I thought so. :3

VA standards have generally remained high even with the mid-00s boom for the most part. Limited to just shows that have aired on Adult Swim, both Code Geass and Death Note had dubs that were on par with those three examples. As for stuff that's remained exclusively on DVD so far, Black Lagoon is the very first title to come to mind. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya also had a great dub, especially considering the high expectations for a series of such considerable stature being brought Stateside. Likewise with Gurren Lagann, despite what some people may think about Kamina's voice; hell, I'm probably one of the few who thinks that Kyle Hebert is easily just as hot-blooded as Katsuyuki Konishi.

Death Note and Ghost in the Shell are two some of the best English dub that came on TV, also FMA:B wasn't that bad either, but on DVD I'd say Baccano! was a good one. I haven't really heard any other anime in English Dub that could compare to those.
