In my book Madoka was not mind blowing or "OMG OUTSTANDING!" like everyone says. I think I gave it a very forgiving 8, and the only reason why I don't lower it is because it was spoiled for me. Plus I don't like the whole "being forgotten" after death thing. I hate that in every anime where it does that, that's the main reason why I put off Shana after 2 eps, I thought it was going to be about people being forgotten. Madoka is one of only two series where at the end I had a heavy heart, like I wanted it to be more but it just wasn't there (I can't explain the feeling). R2 (well Code Geass as a whole) was the other one. Both of them I wanted to have a good ending (or maybe the whole series, I don't know. Like I said I can't really explain the feeling I had), I wanted more, but just wasn't there.

Well, I plan on getting back into anime/manga scene and I would be most grateful for some recommendations. Any particular good animes that have aired this year? I'm already planning to check out Mawaru-Penguindrum, Steins;Gate, REDLINE and Madoka. I'm not too fussy on genres, I enjoy about anything.

I'm also planning on re-reading Pandora Hearts and Karneval. It's been so long since I've read them, I've almost forgotten what happens in them.

I scored both Madoka and S;G 7, enjoyed them both though obviously but there are much better series out there.

Hagumi, My favourite recent anime would probably be Star Driver and Usagi Drop. I liked/am liking all of the others you mentioned as well. Although I haven't read Panora Hearts I would suggest reading Nijigahara Holograph because it's awesomesauce.

Karneval... I should finish that. I started it a year or two ago and I ended up forgetting about it when most of the manga readers were getting shut down. XD

Thanks for the recommendations -Lapras-. I completely forgot about Star Driver and I haven't really heard about Usagi Drop but I will look into it. I'm also adding Tiger & Bunny to my "plan-to-watch" list. And I would definately recommend reading Pandora Hearts - I adore the plot and the characters are awesome. I'll also check out Nijigahara Holograph seeing how it looks pretty dark and something that I would enjoy.

I just checked out the only team that was scanlating (or at least I think it was the only team) Karneval into English has dropped it due to it being licensed by Madman. I mad. Now seems a really good time to start learning Japanese… (I would buy the manga but I can't afford it just now too busy buying the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga instead)

Actually, it looks like another group (calling themselves Circus Scans) picked it up as of the end of last month. Looks like there's hope!

Thanks for letting me know. Karneval has such nice art and characters, it would be a shame if no-one scanlated it for people who can't import/afford/whatever the volumes by Madman.

Looking forward to Nisemonogatari - I plan on re-watching Bakemonogatari before Kizumonogatari airs (can't wait for delicious Shinobu!). Haven't watched Hidamari Sketch… yet. I'm not sure if I'll ever watch it since it seems like something I would get bored with easily.

Not only a Hidamari Sketch season 4 but now we have a Nisemonogatari announcement, this will more than make up for the lacklustre Denpa Onna and Maria Holic Alive.
To be fair, Denpa Onna has yet to have it's final episode shown (and there's hope for a sequel, too). Though I guess that's up to tastes, since I couldn't sit through more than an episode of something as uninteresting as Hidamari Sketch. More than one season of shows like that baffle me. K-ON! did it, and I liked K-ON!, but it just wasn't great. I understand people buy into moe, I'm guilty of doing it myself, but I would never place a moe show above something with actual plot and interesting characters. Like, for example, Steins;Gate. I'm not trying to say people who like that stuff is wrong or anything, I just don't like it when people don't respect that everyone has their own tastes and pretty much say "Well xxx sucks."

Unrelated, I think I've nailed down the shows I'm going to watch next season. Things tend to change after premiers, so I think I'll throw in a list of potential watches as well. Right now I've only got 7 shows that I'll be watching for sure. I guess I'll rank in reverse order of priority.

7. Mirai Nikki
I'm really only watching this because I've heard a lot of good things about it over a long period of time (I recall digi-kun mentioning it to me YEARS ago). The premise sounds promising enough, but the PVs haven't really done a whole lot to wet my appetite. I'll probably have to give it a few episodes to decide if I'm actually going to follow it to completion or not.

6.
The heroine's name is Fear, how could I not? The premise appeals to me a good deal. Pretty much a school battle series with romance (and ecchi, apparently). If it's even half as good as Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi of this season, it'll be worth a watch. It helps that SILVER LINK is doing the animation, and they've done a great job on all of the Baka Test series thus far.

5. Shakugan no Shana III
One of the two sequels I plan on watching this season. It's been a while since Shana II finished, so I can't say I have much hype for it. But, I have a lot of hope it can clean up most of the mess Shana II was. At least, the PV looks like it has that ability. If you disagree, then you can just shut up, shut up, shut up!

4. Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
For a new series with a wacky cast of characters that will hopefully be a substitute for my weekly Baka Test fill (I need some weekly lulz, after all), I think I'm going to go with this one. The plot itself seems interesting and the characters sound colourful. While it's tagged as being a comedy, it also looks like it has the potential to have a lot of heart as well, as the members of the Neighbors' Club interact.

3. Working'!!
I don't really have to explain why I'm following this sequel. If you watched the original, you know why. (PS, the answer is that it was awesome.) Also, the pilot they aired early for season 2 reminded me of everything I liked about the first season.

2. Persona 4: The Animation
I usually don't follow anime adaptations of games I've played... but I never beat Persona 4 despite having an interest in the characters and the plot. The animation for this adaption stays true to the game's style, and it looks really pretty as a result.

1. Guilty Crown
I mentioned in an earlier post that the most recent Guilty Crown PV blew me away, and that momentum is still there. Music from supercell, the animation, the character designs, the premise, all of it screams win, so you can guarantee I'll be following all 22 episodes of it.

I'll also be continuing in following Mawaru Penguindrum, and potentially [email protected] if I ever decide I'm bored enough to get caught up.

As for shows I may or may not watch...

That sort of slice of life show really is a love hate entity, it's totally down to liking the characters and of course the writers comedy style. Dropping Lucky Star after 4 episodes and HidiSketch before finishing one it really seems you're not a fan of this set up, I'd understand it more if you also didn't really like K-On! and Denpa but I guess tastes are random.

Pretty sure there will be a second season of Denpa at some point in the not too distant future, if it wasn't for Maekawa I'm pretty sure I wouldn't bother watching mind.

Considering my current set, being a massive yurihag and the fact I love pointless slice of life it's probably odd that I'm not watching it.

My day has been filled with Noir and it's beautiful OST. Ending was naff of course, it's Bee Train but overall I loved the series. Chloe, I want to take her home.

Not watching it, but by the sounds of it I probably should be, as I'm a sucker for good yuri :)

I downloaded a whole bunch of (older, 3-4 episode OVA) series that I need to get through before starting anything new, though.

(and those older PreCure seasons I want to finish still haven't seen any new episodes subbed :/)

Just started watching Yuru Yuri. Not to exciting or anything, but it faintly keeps me occupied, seeing as I don't want to start watching anything good atm. Anyone else watching Easy Yuri?
Yuru Yuri is my fav comedy for this season. I'm watching others such as Baka Test, and Mayo Chiki, but I think I laugh the most from Yuru Yuri.

No anime for me this week :(

Too busy with school, but I've been downloading some, and my 'To watch' folder is pretty big. By pretty big, I mean very big.

Also, Boys Before Flowers isn't so bad either, and I've resumed KR OOO a bit.

Has anyone here watched Milky Holmes?~

I really wanna see it, it looks fun but it'd be nice to hear what others say
It's a usual parody-based comedy anime. All the VAs are relatively new, but it's not bad.

also, lack of little busters announcement orz
