I'm glad one person happy with Gundam AGE. I can live with the animation, but it just doesn't seem as dynamic of a beginning as some of the other series. I'd definitely like to see some clarity on who the heck the UE actually is. If they are "aliens" then actually show the pilots of them, I want to know their motivation. Watching today episode left me with more questions then answers.

Maybe they are trying to go with a corruption of the bliss that Nora colony was experiencing for such a long period of time. I already knew right after Flit mentioned that they were up next that something was going down in the next couple minutes. When Flit came out of the hanger it was like for him to walk into a different world now he is on the battle field as he mentioned so I would like to see where he goes from here. And I assume you are referring to Largan.

a lot of people are complaining about Yuno's va but I though she did pretty well.
My main problem with her is that very obvious nasal sound when she's talking, like she's trying too hard to hit too high a pitch or something. Other than that, the voice is fine, though given the choice of a different VA given the same target voice, Nakahara Mai probably would have been a better choice (minus money constraints, of course)

The thing that is making me most upset about AGE is the enemy. It's so... not Gundamy. They look like Zoids. That and character designs. But I'll probably keep watching just for Emily...

I guess Mai Nakahara would be an obvious choice seeing her work in Higurashi, although I like her I'm glad she didn't end up cast though. If we're talking about established seiyuu I'd instantly think Yuko Goto or Sanae Kobayashi, yandere experience with both of them (Box Cutter Kaede and Lucy) ans well, I like them both.

And Gundam, I think I'll watch the original and the one with Ginga and Kiyama on the cast before the new one. Will probably have that done before I turn 30.

Well they don't look as Zoidish as that one thing in SEED. XD Plus, I think with everyone in the series saying "they're aliens!" it's just . . . so obvious that they're not going to be aliens. I'm sticking with the idea that it's possibly humans using mobile suits an ancient civilization. The character designs don't bother me too much because the last four shows before Age all had different animation styles. They do look kiddish, but my whole thought process is that pulling off a typical Gundam level story with those designs could be really unique.

You should watch the films if you can. The three compilation films really tighten up the story, improve the animation, and get rid of a lot of fluff.

Aya Hirano has always been a drama queen but she's managed to hold down her ongoing jobs on Fairy Tail and Jewelpet so I expect Kizu and Nizemono will be fine. As for Haruhi, do you really think she would turn down playing a character that will keep her at the top of the saiyuu game? (even though she doesn't like Otaku and want's to be and Idol....lol not going to happen Aya.)

Actually, I'm pretty sure they already unlisted her voicing Shinobu (might have been in a dream where I got that news, not sure)

Haruhi....might be interesting....nayuta? (completely wishful thinking there)

I'm not really talking previous yandere roles as much as target voice pitch i'm looking at. Sanae has a lower general pitch, though I could probably see Yuuko Goto doing it. Mai Nakahara, however, probably has the closest sounding usual voice acting voice to Yuno's current voice without the nasal distortion coming through.

actually, I think I was the one who told you that.

....nayuta?
that would cause huge tsunamis of fan vs. fan flamestorms and rage/rejoicing from all the community.

which is, incidentally, what seems to be what kyoani does best.

The Dark Knight is out of retirement and wanting do an anime about the earthquake. I liked Tokyo Magnitude so something along the same lines might be ok. Disaster stories can be good if done well.

Also just finished the pre restart Gintama, what a fun ride that was.

Sorry for the sudden change in topic, but this right here is making me weep.

According to the tweet of animator Arai Jun (the key animator of "Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto"), the episode 2 of Persona 4 The Animation was leaked to video sharing sites with French subtitles before the TV airing in Japan. The OP sequence of the anime was also leaked yesterday prematurely. Arai Jun disclosed that the production studio AIC A.S.T.A. has been swindling the animators and his salary hasn't been paid even after the deadline. Animator Murata Toshiharu (the character designer of "Hellsing") agreed with Arai that there is something wrong with the whole AIC studios. Two anonymous animators (@zouni and @bito) also tweeted that they quit the team of Persona 4 from the episode 3 because of the bad management of AIC.
Not just what's in the first post, look at those comments. I can't describe how badly I'd love to punch some of those faces in there.

Ah yes, Guilty Crown and that Bones mystery thing are out now, I shall give both of them a go this evening some time. Friday's a pretty damn good animu day ((in Japan)) this season, even the shows i'm not watching (Idolmaster and Boku wa Tomodachi) aren't bad.

Is there anyone else here who watch Mawaru Penguindrum?
Not many anime in this season really caught my attention except P4 and Cihayafuru.

That's very sad news indeed. A good series such as P4 must suffer from something that it doesn't have to do with it.
But from all the time, why must this happen when P4 airing?!
Noting new from the Japanese animation industry, we all know it's a low pay lots of effort job. A shame but anyone who chooses to work as an animator has to somewhat aware that this might happen.
They linceses anime very expensive per episode and yet they give such low pay for animator? I don't really understand those studios. The animator jobs isn't simple job. Its art. And art need many effort to make it beautiful. Surely their govenrment must standardized animator payment but given their current circumstances I doubt they would.

Most of us here are watching Penguindrum I'd think, I'm really enjoying it.

Yeah animators, especially the in between animators wages are really low. It's sad as it's one of the more important jobs in the process of making a series.

Only those few? I've really liked a lot more than usual actually. The ones you mentioned, Mirai Nikki, P4, Ben-To, Chibi Devil and the Bakuman, Shana, squiddy sequels. Also have Guilty Geass and possibly that Bones series to go.

I'm so behind on Penguindrum. I've only watched... one episode. Yeah, I really need to catch up. Planning on watching Mirai Nikki, Guilty Crown (I only just found out that redjuice did the original character designs and supercell are doing some insert songs, that's enough reason for me to watch it) and maybe Persona 4 (I've had the game for two years and still not finished it).

Started reading Pandora Hearts from the beginning again because I've almost forgotten what happens in it - read four chapters so far. Xerxes Break is the best character THERE'S NO DENYING IT. And I picked up two volumes of the Kuromuksuji manga from a bookstore.

Interesting developments on the Madoka front, courtesy of Anime News Network:
  • The series will be released via individual volumes; the first volume comes out on 14 February 2012, the second follows on 10 April, and the third ships on 12 June.
  • In addition to regular DVD and Blu-ray volumes, there will be limited edition Blu-ray/DVD combos packaged with the OST and a bunch of other goodies. MSRP for the limited edition combos is US$94.98, which is still a better deal than what the Japanese are getting in their own markets. Regular Blu-rays are US$49.98, regular DVDs are US$39.98.
  • Right Stuf starts taking preorders on 17 October. DVDs are US$29.98, Blu-rays are US$39.98, LE combos are $74.98.
  • English cast: Christine Marie Cabanos as Madoka Kaname, Cassandra Lee Morris as Kyubey, and Sarah Williams as Sayaka Miki. Who the heck are these people?

I looked them up yesterday, a couple were in the K-On! dub but that was the only real notable prior work. On the topic of licencing, I can understand why they might not dub it but someone should really pick up Bakemonogatari. Other than Zetsobou Sensei it's obviously [email protected] best work.

Penguindrum Ep 14:
Spoiler:
What the flying fudge crackers?!!!.... I did not see that coming (the start and the end). That's just one of them ep endings where I don't have a clue on how the next ep is going to go.
I felt so bad for Ringo when she was talking to Sho. And at the same time I was thinking "You used Sho for so long, making him do this and that for you, all he wanted to do was save his sister and the whole time you were thinking of yourself." and I'm sure this crossed her mind as well (I think she said something about it). Them two need to hook up and not have a back and forth thing going on. Because I think Sho likes Ringo, but when he liked her she didn't care for him. And now that she likes him, he doesn't want to get close to her. So that needs to end.

I was surprised to see yet another new ED tonight. But I liked the last one (Gray Wednesday) better.

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon:
I watched the first two eps and I still don't know what's going on... I'm so confused. I'm going to stick with it just to see what Toori does (a comment on RC said it best "I really shouldn’t like Toori but his face makes everything he does feel justified.") because he's flat out loony. But I hope it gets somewhere soon (I know without the light novels it'll be hard... but still).

Guilty Crown:
That was one heck of an opening episode. It really blew me away... and might be added to that list of "It got me hooked on the first ep". If they can keep up what was done in the first ep then I can see it being in the list (not "my" list, but the general anime list for the year) of top 5 anime this year (maybe even top 3... but taking out Penguindrum would be really hard). But it is hard to tell by the first ep, but we'll see. It also has a really nice OST, I can't wait to get my hands on that.
Spoiler:
I love the part close to the end where he makes up his mind to save the girl, he makes up his mind in a hurry and takes off. None of that sitting there for 5 mins thinking "Should I save her?... can I save her?... How am I going to do it?..., etc".
And then the part right before he pulls the sword out. I LOVE it when all the music dies and maybe the rest of the sounds dies... and then boom the music opens up and it's just that moment of epicness... I love that.
