I guess it's just what sells :/

That and the fact that humanoid aliens/robots don't have human shyness allowing easy fanservice?//perhaps..

Hmm, you're spot on though... MM! is the most normal romance i'm watching atm (i'm not counting Bakuman! as they don't even text eachother) and he turns into a DBZ character whenever he gets really turned on..:L

And it was exactly that aspect of MM! that kept me from watching it in the first place... I guess it's just a trend I'll have to deal with since my taste in anime is different from the majority.

I'm pretty fussy about which genres I watch, but within those genres, I'll most likely watch anything, even if it isn't the highest quality. And strangely enough, I've kinda enjoyed some of those "lower quality" shows.

Hmmm I wonder if I'm picky with genres. I know I watch far too many crappy high school romantic comedies, supernatural harems (wow that's a bad way of putting it, sure you know what i mean) and of course mainstream Shōnen.

Nah, I don't think I am. Most genres have at least a few series I would enjoy.

Usually I stick to my preferred genres but sometimes (usually through anime club or the viewing room at an anime con) I'll be introduced to a show outside of my usual genres that impress me.

A good example is Macross Frontier, which I watched in anime club and ended up enjoying even though I don't typically watch mecha anime.

I threw away my opinion of not liking mecha with TTGL and FLCL, i'm not sure what i'd think of less crazy mechas but they were good.

Just started Black Lagoon, don't usually watch all out action anime but seriously this has potential to be one of my favourites. Love everything in it so far.

For a while I watched Bleach and Fairy Tail as shonen series, but both are currently on hold due to my schedule.

I saw one episode of FLCL a long time ago on Adult Swim and I'm still not sure what genre it fits into, lol

"FLCL... genre."
You're missing the point.
You're probably right.. that show went WAY over my head...

And I've found I'm more likely to watch a show that's outside of my normal genres if cute girls are involved. It worked for Saki and Taishou Baseball Girls xD

Nah, I'll stick with my cuties. Can't go wrong with the classics. Most of my shows are distinctly lacking in a crazy element, anyway. It's just part of my oddball weird "eclectic" taste in anime,,,, yeah, that's the word for it xD

Katanagatari is another i've been waiting to finish before i start watching, Shame i already have 35+ series ready to watch on my lappy atm.

Question, do you guys find Lucky ☆ Star funny? I personally really do, it's no SZS but it's certanly one of my favourite in it's genre.

I don't think you're taste is that odd really. I don't like to judge but the only really weird tastes are of those who enjoy sadistic rapey stuff. It's not really that odd to like magical girls and cuteness.
Well, it's more of what I don't watch that's a bit out of the ordinary... like many of the really popular action/shonen series. I do tend toward the less popular titles. Some of them are hidden gems while with others even I can tell why they're less popular xD

I don't really think about the popularity of a series, i even try to avoid looking at it's rating it's been given and choose to watch based on it's synopsis or someone's personal rec.

Looking at your list I haven't even heard of a lot of the titles, we only share 10 (soon to be 12 Amagami and Aoi Hana) but we've rated those 10 pretty similarly, well apart from Myself ; Yourself... I think you're one of the very few people in the world to rate that so highly. :o

Yes, I find...
*Prepares shotgun*

RAKI SUTA

*Shoots self, and returns as ghost*

...to be fairly amusing. The manga is much more amusing, as it gets even deeper into the culture, but has more "D'aww...." moments.

Unless you're skipping straight to Lucky Channel and the ending, no.

It's not bad as a parody show, but if you're looking for those, there's much better out there. Same goes for the "cute girls doing cute things" shows at that.

Lucky Star was... well, I found it interesting in some of the "awwww Tsukasaaaa" moments.
I think my mom likes it more than I do though, for the fact that they sang songs from her childhood in the ending karaoke scenes.

Currently watching:
Tantei Opera Milky Holmes
PSG
Star Driver

So much I've stopped watching this season, biggest being Ika Musume.

Ooh, harsh, harsh...

I enjoyed the manga more, TBH.

But the last episode of LS was sufficiently awesome.

Sufficiently. It lacked the "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" aspect of Azumanga.

I... cried when Azumanga ended.

I'm not sure what I like better, Azumanga or Lucky Star. This might sound weird but i find Lucky Star more funny overall but if I was to pick individual scenes i'm sure Azumanga would have more in the top 10. Also Azumanga had a few of my favourite characters ever, Osaka, Sakaki, Chiyo and Yukari-Sensei. Meh, I think they're both going to be 8/10 anime.

no offense, saw the dance sequence coming from a mile away

The main problem with Lucky Star for me (from what i recall, haven't rewatched in forever) was that it was just...bland...and it tended to drag it out too. Main thing that comes to mind is that cornet conversation that lasted pretty much all first ep. Not saying there wasn't anything good, there are some nice moments, but half the stuff is "I was thinking, why does _______ happen?" or something other topic that's common, but really bland, kind of like I've heard it how many times already.

I like the pacing in Lucky Star, there are a lot of scenes like the cornet scene that i think get funnier the longer they go on. I wonder if that's what they were going for.

Thinking about slice of life comedy i'm surprised Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei hasn't been brought up, that and Welcome To The NHK! would are both funnier than AD and LS.
