I'm sure, a lot of people on here have said something, to either bend the truth, exaggerate it or tell a white lie to sound better, or not seem quite as different from what everyone else has put before you. What I'm asking is have you ever done that, or just witnessed someone else doing it?

Me, well of course I have, not so much lied, but I have bent the truth further than it would have liked to go before xDMaybe its the same as lying, but I wouldn't say so.

So, have you ever?

Yes, I have done it, but it's not a common thing for myself as usually it ends up either turning it's back on my or I just end up feeling guilty and tell the truth, so in most cases I will just come out with the truth. But if it is for the sake of another, like a friend or a family member, I will do it if the lie is for a suitable situation.

Bending the truth is indeed a tricky thing. It's not completely dishonest, but it's not exactly honest either, and as such should be reserved for the direst of pinches, when something dear to you is in jeopardy.

I have done my fair share of truth bending. I am not proud of it, but when I have done it, more often than not I've done so in order to protect something worthy of protecting.

I've done it plenty of times before. For myself, a family member and friend. I do it to avoid getting shouted at etc etc, since I will most likely burst into tears because I hate getting shouted at and embarrased in public.

I probably have.. don't remember the last time I did it, though.. I hate people who exaggerate to unrealistic proportions, though... it's just.. makes me feel like "Who are you trying to fool?".. ._.

I used to do it a lot, but not so much now that I'm trying to quit. Sometimes I don't even realize I'm doing it. :/

I admit it, I'm a compulsive liar. I will bend the truth subtly to control what the people around me will think of me in any given circumstance.

I try to avoid outright lying unless I don't intend to have a long-term relation with the person I'm talking to, but even that can backfire when my opinion of someone changes radically after I've just fed them some lies for the fun of it. >_>

Yes, I've done it before, mostly to avoid trouble or come up with an excuse why I couldn't do <insert activity/event here>. For the latter, the 'ol "I have to study" works even though I just end up coming on here xD I also use the tried and true, "What are you doing?" "Oh, just... stuff" routine.

It's another one of those "necessary evils" that I'm guilty of, and I don't see myself quitting anytime soon. Now hopefully my IRL friends/family don't see this :P
