I think I said at least one of these elsewhere, but I didn't make a specific thread so I doubt a lot of people saw, let alone tried them.

One thing to not only become more ambidextrous (I say that because unless you only have one arm, we all use both of our hands to do different tasks), but it also improves the way the brain functions, allowing it to work faster, and more efficiently.

Whether you are left-handed or right-handed, you might find yourself using the less used hand for certain tasks that you rarely use your dominant hand for. Either way, if you occasionally switch up the hands to do simple tasks, it will improve the muscle memory, making it easier to use both of them, and it will make certain areas of the brain work together more efficiently. It takes some time to get used to, for example it is still awkward for me to use my right hand for a lot of things, but as I said, over time it builds muscle memory and it will become easier.

The other thing is improving senses, and I'm not completely sure on this one. I don't know if it actually heightens all of them, but it does give an idea of how you could work more efficiently if some of your senses were lessened, like say there was a blackout. Like say if you covered you ears with something to completely drown out sound (Or almost completely, as it might be difficult to completely drown it out, and it's not good to put stuff into your ears), I think it might possibly throw off your balance, but it should raise your other 4 senses, and you would get an idea of what it's like to be deaf.

I know for sure that if you take away your sight, it does raise your other senses, most noticeably hearing for me, and that way you can get an idea of what blindness is like (Though I bet you could still easily picture what colors are like, so it's not like being born blind). I'm not sure about taste, smell, and touch, as those seem hard to temporarily take away without doing something stupid. But yeah, this is mostly food for thought, so do what you want with it.

Well obviously take vitamins and fish oil, but that's different.

I'm right-handed normally, but I'm ambidextrous like you sometimes. So I guess my brain moves back and forth, huh?

As for improving the senses, here's something I did a while ago:

Lock yourself in a dark room. Pretty soon, you'll be relying on all of your other senses. Do this for an hour or two each day, and you'll be enhancing your senses.

Yeah, I forgot about the diet part, that's important. My diet consists mostly of noodles.... :S

And I guess everyone's brain switches back and forth somewhat, just not with every task.

That or use a dark-colored blindfold, but you have to be careful where you do this at, as you end up running into things. I know that from experience. >_<

I punch my head with a fist. It works really!
I think that's actually killing brain cells.
Certain nutrients in certain foods(like peanuts) often help with brain productivity. I'll do some research on it.

nothing is statistically proven to improve our brain.
Right, so even learning things doesn't improve our brain, as nothing is statistically proven to do so...... -_-

I think if you notice a difference in the way you think and work physically after trying a certain technique for a while (Like the ones I mentioned in the OP), then it should be obvious that it helped you in some way. But whatever, if someone doesn't even want to try those techniques out, then it's of no loss to me.

I guess I'll just rule the world by myself then........ :P

Too bad I don't follow any of this :( My brain needs a workout.
Then dooooo itttttttt! >_<

Why waste that brain and let it do inefficient work, when it could be working as efficiently as it can?

Yes, but training and exercising your brain is free. :D

And what kind of drugs? 'Cause a lot of that new stuff hasn't been fully tested, and may have unforeseen side-effects.......

But yeah, you use those drugs, it stimulates your brain for a while, and then you have to buy them again if you want that. But if you use my methods along with some others, it won't cost you anything and you can do them almost any time. :D

I feel like I'm trying to sell you something, but I'm not, lol. :P

This thread makes my brain hurt :(

There is nothing that has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that "improves" your brain, in terms of it's cognition. You can improve your knowledge through education, but fish oils do not work in every one! They have been shown to improve certain things in children but placebo effect?

Fact is that most of this is gimmicky. Brain training programs are fun but the fact is that the reason that your "brain age" improves is because you're getting used to the tasks, not because you're getting smarter.

If you want to improve your brain - read a book, get a degree, have an intellectual conversation... But don't rely on milk with some omega-3 in it!
- If we could live without passion maybe we'd know some kind of peace... but we would be hollow... Empty rooms shuttered and dank. -
- Without passion, we would be be truly dead -

K fine, but that brings me back to my point about the ambidextrous thing. If you use your other, less-dominant hand more often, you will build muscle memory, and it really can be useful, especially depending on what you do in your daily life. And I know for sure that this works because I've been doing that for a while now, and I have seen improvement. :D

And on the second thing I posted about improving the senses, maybe it doesn't exactly improve them, but you learn how to deal with things if one sense isn't in use and the others are heightened. Like if you suddenly entered a dark room, or if you were forced not to smell because you had to hold your breath, or........ basically any situation where a sense is lowered or even if you lost a sense.

I hope that makes sense (lol). :P
