This thread needs some love! I believe that this will be my third to last update. I've gotten all eight badges and am gearing up for victory road.

Spoiler:

After Fortree gym, I realized that there is a massive level gap in between Winona's strongest Pokemon, and the Pokemon in the next Gym- a full nine levels I believe! Unfourtunately, that's going to mean a lot of grinding in between the gyms, and not many places to do it at. Either way, I trudged on through Route 120. I think that the whole area around Fortree has got to be the most beautiful out of any Pokemon game. The designers really went all out with the different types of grass, the rain, and the clever lakes and rock formations. Route 120 also has that horrible trainer... You know... The Cooltrainer... With the Milotic O_o I'm sure I'm not the only one that is completley blindsided by that battle, as that easily is the hardest of the normal trainer battles in any game. I'm surprised that I beat her actually, because I completley forgot about her existance until I ran into her.

If this wasn't a challenge, I might spend more time seeing the sights and smelling the flowers and getting involved with all the bells & whistles that is Lilycove... Perhaps the next time I play through gen III, I'll take it at a much more casual pace; do all the contests, the safari zone, and even grow a berry patch. But for now, all Lilycove held was a superstore and a jumping off point to continue my quest. I easily dispatched May (I really wish that rivals in gen III got the final form of their starters), and stocked up on goodies before heading out to Mount Pyre. Once there, I got all of the items and took care of Team Aqua. I almost caught a Shuppet/Duskull because I have never used them haven't been too useful in my experiences (with the exception of Gengar, I guess).

Mossdeep is a cool-looking island I guess, but when I got there, all I could think about was how I have a team of level 40's and the gym leaders have 42's. Even so, I was quite surprised about how fast the battle went. Dewgong used Surf, Magmar used Flamethrower, rinse and repeat a few times, and it was done. But my biggest gripe about the 7th badge in general is that the leaders don't give hardly any experience. I think its like a total of 2560 split in between your two Pokemon? I could get that spending 10 minutes with a super-rod and a batch of Wailmer.

Fast forwarding again to Kyogre... I really got to see Tauros' strength here: Return took almost HALF of Kyogre's HP with one hit. That is incredible, and he was only level 42 I believe- truly a strong Pokemon. I was hoping for a modest or even brave Kyogre, but after finally catching it, I didn't really care what it's nature was (Quiet). I was kind of expecting a pink one to pop up one of these times :P not sure why... Then Sootopolis gym finished out my quest to get eight badges. Wallace is a pretty cool leader, and surprisingly, his Milotic didn't cause me nearly as many problems as the aforementioned cooltrainer. After a quick bit of grinding to get them all to the same level, I saved my game in front of Victory Road, ready and waiting for the final test...

-----

Xatu- Lvl 44 (Female)
Adamant Nature
Aerial Ace, Wish, Night Shade, Future Sight
- This thing as the level-up move frequency of an uber, and the stats of an UU. I shouldn't be too hard on her, I suppose... The type coverage is probably one of the better ones, taking out bug, grass, and fighting types that my other Poke's would struggle with. I think Psychic is attainable in Victory Road, but I don't think I'll need it depending on when Xatu learns it... Either Confuse Ray or Psychic is at level 50. I really want Psychic just because Future Sight doesn't actually count as a psychic-type attack >_< And does anyone know which stat Future Sight calls on when attacking? Does it use Xatu's SPATK, or the SPATK of whatever Pokemon happens to be out at the time the attack hits?

Dewgong- Lvl 44 (Female)
Careful Nature
Take Down, Rest, Surf, Ice Beam
- I think you're looking at Dewgong's final moveset. I can't think of many other moves I want it to learn, seeing as though it needs one move that uses its attack stat. Dewgong really hasn't been useful since Tate & Liza, but I hope it will get some more love in Victory Road. I'm very happy that it's turned around so much from that pathetic Seel, even if its SPATK is the lowest of its stats. I expect Dewgong to do very well in the Elite Four, especially versus Drake. I've also noticed that as the levels go up, it's tanking ability steadily increases.

Tauros- Level 44 (Male)
Careful Nature
Return, Earthquake, Rest, Horn Atttack
- I skipped out on Thrash and kept Horn Attack mainly because of the greater PP, and because I'm not sure how many berries I have that deal with confusion. As evidenced by the Kyogre battle, this thing is just ruthlessly strong. Return is my go to move for whenever I'm in a pinch, and hasn't failed me yet. As far as the moveset goes... Maybe replacing Rest with something else (haven't used it once), but other than that, I think all this guy needs is levels.

Magmar- Level 44 (Male)
Rash Nature

Brick Break, Flamethrower, Fire Punch, Strength

- Mah special-attacking guru. This thing has got stellar sweeping power and a movepool to boot. He was surprisingly useful for the 7th badge- Solrock's sunny day worked against the psychic duo's team once I got fire punch going. That is actually the only move I'm thinking of replacing- should I? I am not sure what I'd switch it with, but I think two 15PP strong fire moves is enough. I'll have to check my E4 coverage again, but I can't think of too many moves that I'm missing out on.

Well, my next update will be VR, the final team, and then my quest against the elite four as the last update in this challenge :) Once again, movepool suggestions if you like, but I think what I really need it higher levels. Thanks for reading!

Glad to see an update -Cygnus- :)

If I remember correctly, the Psychic TM is in Mauville City... I may be wrong about that buy I think that's where Mr. Psychic's house it. Next to the Pokemon Centre methinks...

As for movesets, I think you've pretty much got everything covered. I'd suggest giving one of your Pokemon Safeguard though, as I mentioned via PM, and Toxic's always a useful move, but I think you'll be fine with a few extra levels on each Poke.

Chapter 14: Team Rocket's 'rockin - Part 4

A Murkrow tells me the last password...Hail Giovinni! I have a feeling I know where that password goes. Back to the room with that OTHER locked door. Ha! The password worked. Looks like there are six Electrode. This must be the source. Lance appears again...so now he'll "help" me even more. Yay.....basterd. Wait! Rockets! They're haters, so they must DAI! Ok...their hideout is done, but they have bigger plans. I have a feeling I gotta deal with more Team Rocket soon. Oh well, we gotta bust down the weird machine by owning the Electrode. I get the left side of Electrode, so Petal gets some battling in at last. Yay...for real. Ok...they're Level 23...kinda overkill since they might explode. Ok...Petal will own them 1 at a time, so I'll be back.

Three Electrodes get owned later...

...They could explode, but the weird signal is gone, and Lance gave me HM06. Now, at long last, to Mahogany Gym. Ice type gym, eh? Fine. Ice floor...total demons of a gym. Furry getting more battles...mabye. Well...we'll see. The faster Pryce is owned...the better. So...I'll go through until I reach Pryce. Ok...I reached him. He was a royal pain with Seel and Dewgong since they had Rest. Piloswine...was gay, but died, so I got the Glacier Badge. The strange part is that Prof. Elm called me. Something's up with the radio broadcast, and it involves...Team Rocket! Son of a b-

Chapter 15: Team Rocket's 'rockin - Part 5

Son of a bullfish! Team Rocket took over the Radio Tower in Goldenrod City. I guess that was their big plan. Well...let's go to the Radio Tower.....again. Team Rocket needs to be owned...again. Looks like they really did do it. They took it over. I need to speak to the manager about this! I'll own every grunt who stands in my way!

A ton of ownage later...

I found the director! Wait, he's a Rocket Executive? He's a fake! They stashed the real one in the Underground Werehouse. I just know that Deyrell is near, though.....very near.

Well I didn't give the Victory Road a proper update. Oh well. All you need to know is that I got through it :) Oh and... Challenge Complete!! Below is my conquest of the elite four:

Spoiler:

Well it was a long road to get there, but I finally arrived at the Pokemon League's gates. After some grinding, I decided that I would stop at level 50 (didn't want to make the E4 too easy). I gave my team some berries for confusion, stocked up on potions, and entered the game's final test...

Sidney
The first member of the E4 followed suit to every other playthrough I've done of R/S/E... He was very easy. Mighteyena was gone in a fire punch or two, Sharpedo was just a joke, the two grass types fell easily, and Absol doesn't have the strength that other "boss" Poke's in the E4 do. I'd say that Magmar stole the show in this battle, and I soon knew that he would become my most important member for the E4.

Phoebe
Surprisingly hard. Dusclops in this game is quite the tank. I knew that it would take a while to finish off her level 51, but I didn't know that it had a very surprisingly strong offensive game. The anti-confusion berries (name?) were helpful in this, as confusion is by far the most irritating status condition, imo. Poor Xatu was easily taken down by a few shadow balls, and Dewgong didn't fare nearly as well as I thought it would. Once again, Magmar helped the most, with it's wonderful special attack and speed. The Banettes were no trouble, and Sableye is just a joke.

Glacia
I don't know how, but Glacia proved to be the hardest to take down. Tauros' return fell a little short here, and even though I thought that Magmar would be able to dent the Sealeo's, he just ended up getting surfed to death. Walerien took almost ten minutes to beat, and in the end I pulled a victory out through a lucky critical hit from Tauros. The levels of the Pokemon were steadily increasing, and my team was struggling to catch up.

Drake
But fortunately, I got a break. Dewgong finally started to shine here, taking out Altaria in one hit, and quickily finishing off Salamence. The Flygons were the toughest part, by far. I had to resort to Tauros to take them out, and was spared Flamethrower and Dig. Dragonbreath pulverized Tauros in a few hits, but I had enough PP for surf to take down both the Flygons without losing my Dewgong. Xatu, once again, didn't see much love.

Steven
Besides Cradilly and Armaldo, Steven wasn't too bad. The champion's leading Pokemon didn't even get an attack in before Magmar's flamethrower turned it into roasted chicken. I guess Steven was mad at me dinner-izing his bird, because he immediately followed it up with Metagross 0_0 I sent Tauros out first (it was a pretty epic confontation), and he Earthquaked Metagross to just the right amount of HP before he died- not to low to trigger a full restore, and not too high so that I can't take it out in one attack. Magmar filled in for Tauros after that, and easily took down the Pokemon I feared most. I personally can't think of any type combos that give a super-effective hit on his two fossils, so I tried my best with Dewgong and the reborn Tauros. Cradilly almost killed Dewgong, but I got off a lucky surf that was enough to take it down. Armaldo was much easier, though he did come within inches of re-killing Tauros. Aggron and Claydol were fairly easy, and before I knew it, I had beated Gen III once again :)

That was kinda short, I know... And probably didn't make any sense. (I is tired!) Stay tuned for my final pseudo-update: an in-depth look at how my team of never used Poke's fared in the foriegn (except Xatu) Hoenn region.

The anti-confusion berries (name?)
Persim :)

I personally can't think of any type combos that give a super-effective hit on his two fossils
Armaldo would be hit super-effectively by... um... Steel, Water and... Rock? Rock's neutral against Rock I think, so yeah, those three. As for Cradily... Ice, Bug (I think Bug's neutral against Rock so would super-effective the Grass part of Cradily, same as Ice does), Steel again and Fighting.

Also, isn't Xatu a Gen II Pokemon? So Hoenn is foreign to Xatu as well...

Anyway, that's enough of me being pedantic. Well done on completing the Challenge, I'll add you to the Champions list post-haste. Looking forward to reading your team review!

I just have a feeling that Deyrell is near.....very near. Anyway...let's go to the undergroud werehouse! But...on the way there, Deyrell showed up. Oh well...he'll get his ownage too. Bring it on!

One Deyrell Ownage Later...

Now...he's done.....for now. But...it's time to save the real director! Onward! Well...there are even Team Rocket Grunts inside the Underground Werehouse. After I owned all of them, I find the director...for real.

KoboraX... Are you doing your Challenge on an emulator? Because I think it is possible to trade on an emulator so you could evolve your Haunter if you wanted...

Update for Pokemon White:

Caught a Patrat on Route 1
Defeated Cheren and Bianca
Beat the first gym leader with Patrat's Bide at Lv.14
Caught Roggenrola in Wellspring Cave
Evolved Patrat whilst training for Aloe
Defeated N
Swept Aloe with Roggenrola
Evolved to Boldore in Victini Event :D
Evolved to Gigalith
Destroyed Burgh with Gigalith
Caught Yamask
Caught Trubbish
Many Toxic Spikes/Hex sweeps followed as I raised them two up to Watchog and Gigalith levels
Gigalith beat 4th gym

Then gave up challenge as too much temptation from other Pokemon that needed evolving to complete Pokedex such as Solosis and Tirtouga. Sorry guys :(

Impressions:

Patrat/Watchog: Was better I thought it would be at the start due to stab tackle and bide. After I caught Roggenola it was a nuisance to level as it was so bad. Would not raise again espically as it took too much time to train up, however Super Fang and Hyponsis were good for catching Pokemon. Finished at Lv.27

Roggenola/Boldore/Gigalith: Definite MVP. In a game of such high evolution levels to have such a good Pokemon at Lv.25 like I did makes it a brillant in-game Pokemon that I would recommend to anybody. At one point it was OHKO'ing Pokemon with 1 hit of Rock Blast. Shame it had to carry Watchog as it soon as it became a member of the team as I enjoyed using it. Finished at Lv.31

Yamask: I didnt use it for long but its Hex move can really be quite good. Coupled with Will O Wisp as an early level up move and Trubbish's Toxic Spikes this guy is a bit like a bulky sweeper in game. Would use again if there weren't so many good Pokemon this generation.

Trubbish: I know I have said it but I will say it again, Toxic Spikes is awesome with Hex! A strong moveset aids Trubbish's average stats with an underrated Acid Spray move and Slugde which works well of the opposing Pokemon's -2 Sp.Def. Doubt I would use it again though.

This makes me sad :( Out of all of the challenges I've done liek 4 this one has got to be my favorite. And no, this post isn't just an unholy bump... Oh! I have epilouge! I'm about to run through the elite four again with my main team, all level 53. I looked at my map and also realized that I've not done Pacifiladog >_< That should be next. I've been thinking about doing this challenge again. Definate Poke's would be Panphy, Girafarig, and Cancea if I do gen III (highly unlikely). I think I'm on a safari zone binge... Oh well.

To everyone reading this: Do this challenge!

Also, Sammu, are you planning on starting your second run anytime soon :)

Thanks for the testimonial -Cygnus- :) free advertisement... always a good thing.

I will be starting my second run soon, yes. I made the mistake of getting really involved with my 3rd Nuzlocke run in the meantime, and between that and general life responsibilities (who knew getting a law traineeship would be so dang hard) it's taken a while to get going. The Pokemon are all bred and ready to go, just waiting for me to trade them across to a new SS file - it's just a matter of waiting till I finish my current Nuzlocke, because running two challenges at once is more than my poor brain can handle. I am currently training for the E4 in that challenge though, so hopefully it won't be too long.

Don't worry though, I've not forgotten! I removed Hacki101 from the Challengers list (shame - come back and try again soon!) and I look forward to reading your final impressions, -Cygnus-.

I am still challenging on Hard Gold though! I have lost to Whitney like 10 times but am getting close to beating her! I just havn't had time to play recently as I have been trying to get a job.

I actually really enjoy this challenge- it deserves more love but I was gonna have to do the evolving for the Pokedex and I am using Pokemon I have never used before I was kind of doing the challenge!

So could I be re-added to the challengers list for Hard Gold?
Try my

In this challenge you can only ever have 1 Pokemon of any type and if it faints you can never use that type or Pokemon again! You must battle through each game to completion (E4 Champion or Red) without having all your types eliminated. Choose your Pokemon wisely and have fun!

Apologies, I've re-added you. I did wonder why you were updating on White when you were listed on HG...

I like the looks of your new Challenge by the way. Looks nice and tough, kinda like a twisted Nuzlocke. I'll definitely be looking to give it a go at some point.

Apologies, I've re-added you. I did wonder why you were updating on White when you were listed on HG...

I like the looks of your new Challenge by the way. Looks nice and tough, kinda like a twisted Nuzlocke. I'll definitely be looking to give it a go at some point.
Thank you! It is harder than I thought it would be and it is interesting to see which Pokemon people choose.

Heh, well, guess it'll be Skuntank, Claydol, Altaria, Starmie, Magmortar and Luxray =p
That is a very strong team! Good luck :)

EDIT: I beat Whitney at like the 14th time trying!!

Drifloon sent out against Clefable as he completely walls him and Whitney uses her only Super Potion on it.
Whitney sends out Togetic I send out Spoink.
Spoink uses Confuse ray
Togetic hurt itself in confusion!
I switch in Remoraid as Togetic hurts itself in confusion
Remoraid uses Aurora Beam, Togetic hurts itself in confusion AGAIN :D
Remoraid uses Aurora Beam Togetic survives on about 3 HP. Togetic uses Magical Leaf, Remoraid fainted.
Send in Drifloon for Speed reasons and kills off Togetic.
Keep in Drifloon to lock Miltank into Rollout.
Switch in Cubone, Miltank uses Attract :(
Switch in Drifloon, Miltank uses Body Slam, it doesn't effect Drifloon
Switch in Cubone, Miltank uses Rollout :D (not very effective)
Rollout, Tail Whip
Rollout, Tail Whip
Rollout, Dig (to stop rollout)
Switch in Drifloon, Body Slam
Super Potion Cubone, Attract :)
Switch in Cubone, Rollout
Rollout, Tail Whip x2
Rollout crits :O Cubone faints
Spoink sent in to confuse/fodder, faints
Drifloon sent in to fodder, rollout misses (bad thing as rollout will start again now)
Switch in Teddiursa w. Silk Scarf from Voltorb Flip, Rollout
Rollout, Headbutt FOR THE WIN!!

That concludes a very very hard gym battle which needed the most strategy I have ever needed on Pokemon games :)

Team: (No impressions beacuse I havn't done a lot since last time)
Drifloon Lv 26: Gust, Payback, Astonish, Cut
Cubone Lv 21: Dig, Headbutt, Tail Whip, Focus Energy
Remoraid Lv 21: Bubblebeam, Aurora Beam, Bullet Seed, Psybeam
Spoink Lv. 23: Psybeam, Flash, Confuse Ray, Payback
Teddiursa Lv. 22: Headbutt, Fake Tears, Rock Tomb, Taunt
Numel Lv.21: Earthquake, Ember, Rock Slide, Take Down
Try my

In this challenge you can only ever have 1 Pokemon of any type and if it faints you can never use that type or Pokemon again! You must battle through each game to completion (E4 Champion or Red) without having all your types eliminated. Choose your Pokemon wisely and have fun!

Ok, first update:
Name: Clair
Rival: Jun
Picked Chimchar as starter (Barry/Jun/Pearl has Empoleon in just about every form of media anyway) and beat him.
Got my pokedex and eventually some pokeballs, and after my 219318th lesson on how to capture pokemon, got some random ones to trade to my other game for some eggs of the rest of my team (once I can trade that is), along with a female Shinx, nicknamed Elesa (I suck at nicknames, but I like Elesa).
Trained my Shinx up to level 10 while on my way to Jubilife, where I get my Poketch and defeat my rival once again.
On my way to Oreburgh, Elesa evolves! Finally able to trade as well! Then I traded over and hatched my eggs, and started the task of grinding them all to level 15... *Phew* took awhile...
Going to take a break... My team is now:

Elesa (Luxio), female, modest, level 15

Stunky, female, adamant, level 15

Baltoy, serious, level 15

Swablu, female, adamant, level 15

Staryu, modest, level 15

Magby, female, modest, level 15

If anyone has any nickname ideas, lemme know =o
