Do you get deceived often?

If yes, do you think it's because you're especially gullible or because other people are especially manipulative?

Have you ever been seriously deceived over something major? Such as having a large amount of money stolen from you, or someone tricking you into thinking they love you? Anything that's more major than "I got my Pokemon Blue cartridge stolen by my best friend" basically.

Has it had an effect on your ability to trust people?

Are you someone who deceives others?

Answer as many as you wish, or post in an entirely different format. You get the concept.

I've been deceived by a large number of people. Although never anything I would call major, just typical backstabbing. I've come to think that it's just in most people's nature to be somewhat deceptive, although I think I have been quite gullible in the past as well. It hasn't really had an effect on how much I trust people because I am still quite trusting and confident of people's sense of morality on many occasions. However I'm unwilling to trust anyone with anything particularly important.

I'm pretty deceptive myself as well, although it's rarely with malicious intent, it's something that became part of my nature. Although I think I'm getting better with it now.

Yes once.

Has it had an effect on your ability to trust people?

Most definitely.

Are you someone who deceives others?

No.

Not often, as I lied a lot when I was younger, so it's usually easy for me to tell if someone is lying to me.

I'm not sure of the last time someone lied to me..... It might not be the last time, but the last time I remember was when I was skateboarding in my neighborhood (That must have been months ago!), and this girl said something like "Hey skater!". And when I turned to look, she said "No, not you!". I was the only skateboarder around......

I didn't mind though because it was cute. :3

I don't get deceived. Not for a long long time anyway.
I am however quite deceptive and manipulative myself.
It probably isn't the best character trait to have, but I am weirdly proud of my abilities in deception and manipulation.
It doesn't hurt when people are so gullible these days either.
I can feel your fever, taking over me.

Do you get deceived often?
Used to. And I never realized until a few months after.

If yes, do you think it's because you're especially gullible or because other people are especially manipulative?
Probably a bit of both. Although, I do tend to be a lot more guarded now when I'm meeting new people. It's actually a good thing that I've been deceived before, otherwise I'd still be very innocent.

Have you ever been seriously deceived over something major? Such as having a large amount of money stolen from you, or someone tricking you into thinking they love you? Anything that's more major than "I got my Pokemon Blue cartridge stolen by my best friend" basically.
Kind of. It's very hard to explain and I can't be bothered right now.

Has it had an effect on your ability to trust people?

If you mean people in general, yes. Close friends and family, no.

Are you someone who deceives others?
Lying yes, but cheating and conning, no.

I've deceived people. It's something I do more than I like to admit. Mostly it's little things like saying I have somewhere to be when I pass someone I know but don't really want to talk to. Sometimes I get caught in a vortex when a little lie gets out of hand. I don't do it with malicious intent. It's more of a defensive reaction borne of my angsty teenage days that I've never fully gotten rid of.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with what I just described, but I'm not very good at detecting deception in other people.

Do you get deceived often?: No, not really.

Has it had an effect on your ability to trust people?: Yes, because if I see a sign that someone deceives me (which I don't really know, but I do have a feeling), that's when I get suspicious.

Are you someone who deceives others?: No. Why would someone as honest as me deceive anyone?

I've been deceived before, and I think it's made me more aware and suspicious so it doesn't happen again.

I deceive my parents all the time. If they knew of half the things I've done in college...

When I was just starting going to school (around age 5) I was easily deceived by just about everyone. Mostly because no one had ever really lied to me before entering school. Since the only people I knew before that was my family and they never made up lies to impress me obviously. So at first I believed pretty much everything that other kids told me. For example I still remember some kid told me his family had Six Flags and Disney World shut down just for his birthday in the same day. My response, "No way!" "That's so cool!" Innocent youth I suppose~

Nowadays I tend to pretty much not believe just about anything anyone tells me. It's probably not that apparent because I don't make it known to that person when I don't believe them. I feel like I can tell when others are deceiving me, even on here, but I just think it's better to acknowledge their deceitfulness for myself instead of pointing it out to themselves or anyone else.

As for myself I'd say I'm pretty deceitful. Online I have no reason to lie, but in real life I lie about little things here and there all the time. It's almost always me making up a lie to get out of going to some sort of event. Usually a family oriented event brings out the best lies in me. :D

I'm occasionally deceived, or at least camp up being gullible. However, I'm a paranoid person who questions most of everything, so . . I tend to expect deception even when it's not there. D:

For myself? Of course, I deceive people. It's just a matter of who and why. I mean, sometimes it's not with the intention to be cruel, other times it's just a matter of not being comfortable with a person to the extent that you might mislead them into thinking something that isn't true.
In a sense, I believe that acting is the art of deceit; ergo, when one is becoming another person, you . . kind of lie until you're that person..? I'm not sure if that exactly makes sense . . but I find it easy to manipulate situations with this :p

Do you get deceived often?
Thankfully, no. I've only ever been decieved once or twice by someone close, and for a number of reasons they're not welcome in my life anymore. Which is saying something because I'm all for giving people multiple second chances.

Do you think it's because you're especially gullible or because other people are especially manipulative?
A combination of both, but leaning more towards my own gullibility. It wouldn't take much to decieve me, that's for sure.

Have you ever been seriously deceived over something major?

...Yes? I mean, it probably wouldn't sound so bad to most people, but it definitely had a major effect on me. It did cost me my best friend and it was a major blow to my self-esteem... but I don't really feel the pain anymore unless something really reminds me of her, or if I hear her name or see her picture.

Has it had an effect on your ability to trust people?
Nope. I was afraid it would at first, but that was before I learned I'm just not that kind of person. No matter how many times I fall down, it always seems like I'm willing to offer myself to the first person who helps me up. Still haven't figured out whether this is a negative trait or not...

Are you someone who deceives others?
In the "little white lie" sort of way, yes. The biggest victim of this is probably my mother, but what she doesn't know won't hurt her~
