In Schools all a cross America people are trying to bring awareness to bullied children. They have been having assemblies at my school. Most of them were very sad, and did an effective job. However what ticked me off was when the instructor was talking about switching places with other people. At fist I was like okay I will picture myself black, and the pain that might come just form ones skin color. Then he said picture your self being gay, then I became agitated, you aren't born homosexual. (and if you believe you are, well we were born thinking it is okay to put what ever you want into your mouth, as we grow up we learn what not to do)In a rally to bring to bring awareness, and sympathy people in my school were encourage to were the color purple. I wouldn't have chose purple, for one I don't have many shirts of that color, and second purple is the homosexuality referenced color.

Wait... o___o Says who? :/ Purple's just a colour.. if anything.. rainbow is a homosexuality referenced "color" due to the Pride flag ://

EDIT:
Also, I have to add that the colour purple actually represents Royalty..

"In human color psychology, purple is also associated with royalty and nobility (stemming from classical antiquity when Tyrian Purple was only affordable to the elites)."
or a "position of rank, authority, or privilege."

Really?

The color doesn't really matter. At all. It's the meaning of the day, and giving your support.

I'm starting to realize that people who think only gay people get bullied have never been bullied, and really have no idea what they're talking about...but go wear your purple and be a big hypocrite...just sayin'...".(Jill Woods)

I don't see your point in posting that. Because all I see is an attack on everyone who chose to support Spirit Day.
No one's making you be a part of it :/

Also, I think you're confusing Challenge Day with Spirit Day. While they have the same objective in the end, Challenge Day is about bullying as a whole and getting poeple to understand each other.

Spirit Day is in memory of the boys who killed themselves over it.

You don't choose to be gay, your born that way.

Now I don't know how. You just are. I do get the torment every day, well not every day but most day's about my sexuality. I like "pink" which is usually the girls color, So does this make me a girl?

I don't really see the point of this thread, I choose to honor spirit day and wore purple (Accessories damn school uniform being black ¬_¬).

Excuse my ramblings ~

Okay, great! You wouldn't have chosen to purple for spirit day. People wear purple today to support homosexual teens for their troubles and the amount of horrible suicides that have been committed due to the intolerance, hatred, and bullying directed towards them.

There's really no point in this discussion, as there's already a sexual orientation discussion going on and this seems to be more directed towards your opinion on whether someone was born gay or chose to be that way. If everyone was biologically wired to be heterosexual, what on earth's name would make them "decide" to be gay and endure so much pain in their lives due to other people's intolerance and hatred towards their lifestyle? For the muks and giggles? I think not. So before you throw away such bold opinions in which you believe to be facts, I'd consider actually learning a bit more about human psychology.

Want to express your concerns regarding sexual orientation? Do so in the thread already existing.
