Welcome to England and the ridiclious "the criminal is the victim" culture that 13 years of left wing govt. has left us with
I love how you're completely ignoring the fact that all laws surrounding this situation are more than 13 years old, and that they came from right wing government policies.

But that's fine. Let's put the blame on left wing people, no matter how ignorant I sound while doing it. HURRAY FOR FULFILLING GENERALLY NOT TRUE STEREOTYPES <3

So you are trying to deny that Labour's shambolic running of England didn't create this culture where a criminal can do what he or she wants and the victim still comes worse off? Because I tell you now this would of NEVER happened under Thatcher's govt.

Then again you're 17 so I assume by defending the left you're fulfilling that same liberal spirit of all teenagers as opposed to accepting that Blair/Brown's labour were atrocious

Stop putting words into my mouth. All I am saying is that the laws came from a right wing government. I am not saying anything about which side did a better job, or which side is right. Or even which side did a better job at running the country.

Just that those few laws came from a right wing government, when you said they came from a left wing government. That is all.

I am saying the facts, I am not taking sides. :/

You put words in my mouth, I never mentioned an affiliation to the right, I only slanted the left. Typical liberal mindset though, attack and assume.

In fact I never said anything about the laws either, only about the culture that the left wing govt created.

This is why we need first amendment rights. Like the right of being king of the castle. Meaning you can use your gun on your own property to defend your self, or your property. I would point the gun at them and say get out or get shot.

That's actually the second amendment, the right to bare firearms. The first amendment is freedom of speech. I would like to meet this guy and make fun of him for losing his house like that. Or I could just convince him to burn his house down and kill everybody in there.

This happened in London, aka, out of US borders, thus they've not the same right as US citizens.

Also, should I laugh at you if I was to get a bunch of people together and steal your house? Hahahaha, you lost your house, now go away. Yup, your such a loser, because something that you had no control over whatsoever happened.

In all honesty, if the law did nothing, I would take the law into my own hand. I would gather my buddies, and we would get into my house and force them out. If they are going to play, dirty, so shall I.

At least one of them have to come out to get food and water.

The owner or somenody could do somehting when one of them comes out, thus doing this everytime.

Or else, they die of starvation.
Pick them off one by one, eh? When one comes out, scare him off for good? When he doesn't come back with food, another will come out? then you scare him off! Aha. Marvelous plan.

But no, really. I would through such a fit if I was this man.

I'm probably having the sense of picking them off one by one after all the Friday the 13th movies I've been watching.

But only for this situation, there wouldn't be a lone survivor.

The human body can only go without food and water for at least 2 weeks I heard.

Siege the house, great idea!

If this happened where I live, these people would probably be arrested and charged with breaking and entering, burglary, home invasion, vandalism, etc.

I would support him if he decided to take up arms to regain control of his property.

Yeah, now it makes much better sense.

So yeah, it's okay if you believe that every leftist in the world is a mixture of Satan and Hitler but please, do not steer away threads out of the topic disrespecting people on the way. Thanks.

Anyway, about the topic of the thread: laws should be changed so the legal owner of the house has the upper hand here, because otherwise, you are pretty much twisting the law- if you can prove the house is yours, that's all you need. Being forced to spend weeks away while the judge decides is just unfair.

If there was some sort of legal documentation that the owner signed proving that he bought the house, there should be absolutely no problem in him getting it back, and he would also be able to have the police arrest the squatters on a number of charges (trespassing, breaking and entering, etc.). Unless the owner acquired the house illegally (such as the way the squatters took over it), then there shouldn't be any laws that would take away his ownership of the house and give them to the squatters. As it is, because of a news story like this, it wouldn't surprise me if the British government changes the laws about squatting in others' residences, especially when they acknowledge the fact that it isn't their house, and that they most likely knew that the owner was only going to be gone a short while.

Can i just say Went fantastic selective moderating as always, completely ignore his outburst at me whilst making a hillarious edit to a post of mine you quoted. Especially a fan of how when you launch a PERSONAL ATTACK it's k but when I do it it's "even tho you left 3 point infraction man im feelin brave today"

Anyway, about the topic of the thread. As I said, welcome to England. This kind of stuff happens all the time here now, and has being for the past decade. People getting arrested for defending their own lives, robbers suing victims because they hurt themselves whilst breaking into their property. It's a sad state of affairs.

If there was an actual flaw in the law that allowed this to happen, then I am sure situations like this would be occurring all over the country. Instead, there just happens to be this one situation that happens to be legal, whereas all other instances like this that I've heard of are illegal and get no media coverage at all. This is so ridiculous that I can't help but feel that we're not being told every single detail in this story, there must be more facts which would make the whole thing make a lot more sense. As Kura pointed out, they've clearly broken into this house. I refuse to believe that they just simply believed the squatters story about the door being unlocked, the police are not that stupid.
