Not every member found their way to PC purely through Google searching. Some current members have been asked to join PC by other members. Have you ever asked somebody to join PC? Were they listed as a referral?

Referrals are found here, in the "statistics" part of your profile:

1. Have you asked someone to join PC? If so, why? Were they listed as a referral, or did they not know your username?
2. How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?
3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?
4. Do you think that referring those you know IRL, or maybe on another forum makes you feel more apart of the community, knowing that there is someone else with interests closer to your own?

Right now, I have 2 referrals, as you can see by the copy+paste, but... I have no clue who they are. XD; I remember referring some people a few years ago from high school but I don't know whether they added me to their referrals. I think referrals help PC member numbers a lot, but I think most of the referrals from PC relate mostly to ShinyGold and people recommending that. I think that referrals in general don't really help you feel more apart of PC, because although they may share similar interests, it's not guaranteed they'll remain at PC, although I do know of a few PC members who were asked to join by their friends and have become well known, so I'm not entirely sure of my view on that.

Yes I have asked some of friends to join PC. Some of them referred me, others forgot my username. -_-
2. How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?
I've referred 5 people and I think I know them all.
3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?
I never had the motive to invite people just to gain more members. I wanted them to enjoy what all I did. XD;

1. Have you asked someone to join PC? If so, why? Were they listed as a referral, or did they not know your username?: Yes, I asked some of my old friends at Bulbagarden to join PC so I could talk to them.
2. How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?: I have 2 referrals. I think I do remember referring those people, though.
3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?: It is.
4. Do you think that referring those you know IRL, or maybe on another forum makes you feel more apart of the community, knowing that there is someone else with interests closer to your own?: Yes. It's one of the ways I keep in touch with my old Bulbagarden friends.

1. Have you asked someone to join PC? If so, why? Were they listed as a referral, or did they not know your username?
Yes, because it's the only forum I am active on, so if anyone asks if I go to any good forums, I'll direct them here. Both of my referrals did put me down as their referrer.

2. How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?
I have 5 referrals and I can only remember 2 of them (Marionette & JohnnyShadow), I have no idea who the other 3 are. I don't remember referring anyone else so I assume someone random just put my name there for no particular reason.

3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?
Yes, I don't know why it wouldn't be. I only invite people who I think might like the place though, as a favour to them, not to PC. I don't invite anyone for the sole purpose of gaining members.

4. Do you think that referring those you know IRL, or maybe on another forum makes you feel more apart of the community, knowing that there is someone else with interests closer to your own?
Well none of my friends have interests similar to my own, and the people I referred aren't IRL friends. I already felt that I was "a part of the community" because I had already made plenty of friends here, it just felt nice to invite another friend who could potentially enjoy PC as well. Although neither of them did because they barely posted at all (Johnny didn't even post once, lol).

1. Have you asked someone to join PC? If so, why? Were they listed as a referral, or did they not know your username?
A few of my friends when I first joined. Then, yesterday, someone was asking on Yahoo! Answers about good Pokemon forums to join, and of course I said PC :) I never posted my PC username on my Yahoo! Answers response, so I'm not going to get a referral for that one.
2. How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?
Two right now. I definitely know who one is, and I have one or two people in mind who could be the second one...
3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?
Absolutely. Word of mouth is always a good way to attract more people to the site who may not know it even exists. Especially if they're fed up with other Pokemon forums.
4. Do you think that referring those you know IRL, or maybe on another forum makes you feel more apart of the community, knowing that there is someone else with interests closer to your own?
I haven't had the opportunity to refer any of my friends, as they seem to only have a passing interest in Pokemon.

I don't have any on this account, but my old account shows three. Most likely one was from my brother and the other two were from alts I made back then. I'm not sure though because that was such a long time ago. XD

People that are close to me doesn't like Pokémon and forums that much. They all want facebook and chatboxes, so doesn't affect me much.

1. Have you asked someone to join PC? If so, why? Were they listed as a referral, or did they not know your username?
I've asked my cousin, her friend, and a friend of mine to join. I told them my username, of course. :P

2. How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?
I have 7 referrals.. o__o; I only ever remember referring the 3 I mentioned.. weird.

3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?
Of course it's a good way for PC to gain members ~!

4. Do you think that referring those you know IRL, or maybe on another forum makes you feel more apart of the community, knowing that there is someone else with interests closer to your own?
Yeah, but the thing is, the people I referred aren't active. So I'm a bit of a lone wolf. xD;

1. Have you asked someone to join PC? If so, why? Were they listed as a referral, or did they not know your username?
No, 99% of my friends don't play Pokemon anymore so I'm the odd one out. The 2 that do don't go on forums

2. How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?
None ;-;

3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?
It is actually

4. Do you think that referring those you know IRL, or maybe on another forum makes you feel more apart of the community, knowing that there is someone else with interests closer to your own?
Hmm, yes. Especially if it's your own friends irl since you can talk more about it when you aren't online

Yup, I thought they would be interested in it, referral.
2. How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?
1, not really haha.
3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?
Yea, I think its a good idea so people can know more about it.
4. Do you think that referring those you know IRL, or maybe on another forum makes you feel more apart of the community, knowing that there is someone else with interests closer to your own?
The person I referred was in rl, so I could properly explain them what it is, and they quote liked it. It kinda makes me feel like I'm a part of the community.

1. Have you asked someone to join PC? If so, why? Were they listed as a referral, or did they not know your username?
I've referred two members, one in real life who actually never bothers to come on anymore, and another close friend I've known for three years or so from online.
2. How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?
I have two listed under my referrals that I invited personally and no, no one has put my name down without asking, I find that rather silly kind of, when you don't even know the person nor told them about this community.
3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?
It seems like a good way to gain member if you ask me, I've planned on telling a few fellow Pokémon fans about this site, but haven't gotten the time to as of this moment.
4. Do you think that referring those you know IRL, or maybe on another forum makes you feel more apart of the community, knowing that there is someone else with interests closer to your own?
Yes, it seems like somewhat but I have different opinions upon the question asked therefore I'll just keep this for now, perhaps add something more later if it comes to mind.

Yes... sort of. I used to talk about PC when I first joined, and a couple of my friends wanted in. I referred one of them, and she stayed active for give or take a month before losing interest. xD

How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?
Just one, and yes I remember them. See above response. :D

Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?
Of course it is, why wouldn't it be? Granted, I'm sure most of the members come here through Google, but I've always preferred being referred to a forum rather than finding it through a quick search. It's just so much more personal that way.

Do you think that referring those you know IRL, or maybe on another forum makes you feel more apart of the community, knowing that there is someone else with interests closer to your own?
Not really. We may be close friends IRL or otherwise, but normally if we join a forum together we tend to go our seperate ways while occasionally spamming each other with pointless VMs/PMs. xD

1. Have you asked someone to join PC? If so, why? Were they listed as a referral, or did they not know your username?
Well... Not someone from school. :x It's kinda weird seeing them on a website... So no... Maybe from different websites online. XD
2. How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?
Well, I don't have any referrals, so I guess this answer doesn't apply to me.
3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?
I think I answered on question number 1. XP
4. Do you think that referring those you know IRL, or maybe on another forum makes you feel more apart of the community, knowing that there is someone else with interests closer to your own?
Yeah, sorta. XP

Also, I think if I did have referrals, I would like to know who. Maybe you guys should create a list of the usernames that referred you. =P

Yes I have, but whether or not they joined, they didn't refer me.

0.

3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?

Yes I do. But I don't think PC is in desperate need of new members anymore.

1. Have you asked someone to join PC? If so, why? Were they listed as a referral, or did they not know your username?
I think I asked my little brother once... I might've mentioned it to a few friends ages and ages ago when I still went to SPPF, but that was so long ago I no longer remember.

2. How many referrals do you have? Do you even remember referring them, or did somebody you didn't know just put your name there through looking at your posts on another forum, maybe?
I have 8. I couldn't tell you how they got so high. I could see maybe three or four of them, maybe, but I don't even know if the people that joined knew my username or what referrals were for. @@;

3. Do you think asking people to join PC is a good way for it to gain members? If you haven't asked anyone, why not?
I think so, in the right situations. I mean, obviously, going around and spamming links on other forums is a bad idea. But, mentioning it to a few friends IRL or over MSN can't hurt, right? Word-of-mouth can be a good thing.

4. Do you think that referring those you know IRL, or maybe on another forum makes you feel more apart of the community, knowing that there is someone else with interests closer to your own?
Not really. I already share a lot of interests here with other members. Like... Pokemon. XD I've also found that since I've joined PC, I've picked up more video games due to the interests of other people. I don't think I would've ever touched Kingdom Hearts if a lot of people over here didn't gush about it, for instance.

I'll make a proper signature when Pokecommunity gets a proper slogan
