Finding a bee, or even a wasp hive in your backyard isn't usually an enjoyable experience and most of the time, you find yourself hiring out an exterminator. Today, I had to experience that, (well, actually Pop had to) and apparently the bees in our backyard who made the hive were the worst type of bees you could get in this area, great. Anyway, ever found a nee or wasp hive in your backyard?

1. Have you found a bee or wasp hive in your backyard? If yes, did you hire an exterminator or got rid of them yourselves? Anything interesting occur during that experience?
2. If you haven't had a bee or wasp hive in your backyard, what do you think you would do if you had one? Would you fight them with water (which apparently wasn't the best idea for us) or get a professional?
3. Are you scared of bees or wasps in general (yes, even the backyard ones, not the ones that build hives in your backyard)?

As I said earlier, we found one in our backyard today, but sadly, it wasn't the first time. A couple of years ago we had one in our backyard, but not as close to the actual house back then. I actually love bees in general, but wasps? Yeah no, I dunno, I'm scared of them. D:

3. Are you scared of bees or wasps in general (yes, even the backyard ones, not the ones that build hives in your backyard)?: I'm not scared of them, but I'm afraid of being stung by them.

No because we love Bees and they help take care of the flowers in our garden.

2. Are you scared of bees or wasps in general (yes, even the backyard ones, not the ones that build hives in your backyard)?

Bees and Wasps are harmless to me, so nope and I'm not scared of them either.

Yes we have had several bee hives but we didn't get rid of them because they were all the way on the other side of our field so we just let them be.

3. Are you scared of bees or wasps in general (yes, even the backyard ones, not the ones that build hives in your backyard)?
No I like bees they are my second favorite type of bugs after ladybugs. They used to be my first favorite.

Not any huge ones, but we found that when we leave a car parked and sitting for awhile on our property, bees like to build little hives in spots like the door jamb and just inside the openings for the hood and trunk. Nothing major comes from it; we usually wait till the hive is unattended and use a stick or something to knock it to the ground.
2. If you haven't had a bee or wasp hive in your backyard, what do you think you would do if you had one? Would you fight them with water (which apparently wasn't the best idea for us) or get a professional?
If it was a huge hive like we've never had thus far, I know I wouldn't get within ten feet of it. My dad would probably try to get rid of them himself rather than pay an exterminator.
3. Are you scared of bees or wasps in general (yes, even the backyard ones, not the ones that build hives in your backyard)?
Yes, because (a) I have a low pain tolerance for being stung and (b) I may or may not be allergic to bee stings.

In my parents' old house, I would occasionally see a bee or two flying around outside my window...turned out there was actually a hive inside the woodwork near my bedroom window that required an exterminator to come and remove. It was an interesting experience seeing him remove at least three layers of honeycomb and filling a jar with the honey he collected. We couldn't keep it though because he had tainted it with his poison. D:

I'm not particularly scared of bees as they're mostly harmless unless you pester them, and even then their sting isn't that bad. Wasps are a different story though. They're significantly more scary-looking, a lot faster and unpredictable in flight, and more aggressive. Finding wasp hive in my parents' old house was a regular occurrence, and my reaction to finding a singular wasp was always the same, especially indoors. Stay the **** away from it until it disappeared. D:

Not any big ones, just one. Last time I encountered a bee, I literally blew on it and my friends lol'd..hard.

My mom will prolly spray some insecticides on it. xD

3. Are you scared of bees or wasps in general (yes, even the backyard ones, not the ones that build hives in your backyard)?
As long as they're a few feet from me, I can manage.

Yup, I have to get rid of at least 6 each year, I did it myself, other than the queen wasp and bee trying to attack me, nothing really happened.

No, I've been stung 4 times, but it doesn't bother me anymore.

Probably... I don't really remember. lol

I doubt we'd hire anyone. My parents always do things themselves. lol
3. Are you scared of bees or wasps in general (yes, even the backyard ones, not the ones that build hives in your backyard)?

Nope. My mom is, but I've never had a problem with them. The last time I got stung by one was like 5 years ago, when it flew into my face while I was riding my bike.

Not particularly in the backyard but certain parts surrounding my house. I did neither when I saw them, I don't think my dad did either. They were composed of dirt clods and were small so it wasn't as if it was a colony that would be a nuisance

2. If you haven't had a bee or wasp hive in your backyard, what do you think you would do if you had one? Would you fight them with water (which apparently wasn't the best idea for us) or get a professional?
I would just leave them alone they usually keep to themselves and are only defensive when you get in there personal comfort zone.

3. Are you scared of bees or wasps in general (yes, even the backyard ones, not the ones that build hives in your backyard)?
No, as I said they usually do not initiate any attacks on people(unless their African Bees). I just try and keep my distance from them so don't irritate them.

I haven't ever had a beehive in my backyard, no. But if I did, I would convince my parents to leave it alone (Can we keep it, can we can we?), if it wasn't a problem with the neighbors. Hell, if I lived in an open country area, I would definitely want a beehive to take care of in the first place, as hat would be awesome. 8D

Yeah, but it was in my front yard, on the corner of my house roof. My dad got it down somehow, I wasn't around when it happened but it was probably an interesting experience ha.

I leave the bees alone. Especially honey bees.

Even if I have a bad memory of my dad placing me on top of a yellow jacket that was on my car seat (and then buckling me in) when I was three, I still leave 'em alone. I do freak out a little at the sight of yellow jackets, though.

YES! Bees, wasps, hornets, the lot! The wasps were the worst. My friend got stung on the neck and he was down crying but me and my other friends were litterally ROFLing . I just chuck rocks at the nest until the nest is no more, as my family is cheap and CBF hiring an exterminator. Same with our trapdoor spider infestation in our yard. MY dad blew them up with petrol and matches , by shoving the matchs in the holes. That was the best experience :)

Always fight them with rocks, and have a pool ready to jump in.

No. My little brother is.

Funny you should ask that. I've had several encounters with nests. One ended with me swiping at it like a bear, and the most recent ended via my sledgehammer. $75 for the best exterminator ever.

If I didn't experience one, I'd probably just smash it and run.

Nah. I catch them, shake them, and let them go. It gets them dizzy.

I have many different kinds of flowers in my backyard so there are always many bees flying around there. I have never actually seen a hive, but I am sure that there are somewhere. Fortunately, since I have grown so accustomed to their presence, I am not in the least bit afraid of bees

Yes, when I was a little kid. We had a small bee hive in our backyard, though I don't have too much of a fond memory. Just faint nostalgia, I suppose, because we moved.

2. If you haven't had a bee or wasp hive in your backyard, what do you think you would do if you had one? Would you fight them with water (which apparently wasn't the best idea for us) or get a professional?

Thankfully, we don't have a bee hive where we live now. If we did have one, no, I wouldn't fight the bees with water XD. I'd probably just leave them alone, though my parents might disagree.

3. Are you scared of bees or wasps in general (yes, even the backyard ones, not the ones that build hives in your backyard)?

When I was a little kid, yes. I've learned to just leave them alone. So not really.

I love bees, and I was never afraid of them. Sure I've found a hive a couple of times, but I don't see why anyone should "do something about it". If you don't mess with the bees they don't mess with you, it's simple as that!
