YEah, in the course of my gaming life (Read: All 13 years of my life), I've picked up a few RPGs, and gone to forums just to see that noone even knows about them!
If anyone else knows about these games, why don't we discuss them?:
EVOLUTION - the World of Sacred Device (BAD TRANSLATIONS FTW!)
Evolution 2 - Far Off Promise
Evolution Worlds
Quest 64.

I really think the [ROBLOX] admins are not satisfied with breaking the game, they intend to break reality itself.

Lol, I remember renting Evolution 1 and 2 for the Dreamcast and not finishing either game. Yet, when I bought Evolutions Worlds, which is pretty much both games combined, I had a much easier time and actually beat the game. The Cyframes where a cool concept. ;D

Quest 64 kicked ASS.
That game was my childhood!

We sooo bought it at a yard sale before Thanksgiving and it provided us with countless hours of fun before the holidays arrived. I just hated that it had to be saved on a memory card, though.

Memory card + N64 = Should have never happened. Those memory cards seemed to always end up corrupt one way or another.

Also, anybody who played Quest, i'm gonna go out on a limb and say you held your control stick down with a rubber band to make Brian run in a corner while you slept to get 99 agility too?

The entire Dept. Heaven series.

Not counting LiveJournal and a small forum dedicated to it, I know of very few people on here who even know what "Riviera: The Promised Land", "Yggdra Union", and "Knights in the Nightmare" are.

Also, I've hardly come across any Summon Night fans. It's a great series, and even the spinoffs are pretty good.

And then there's Hexyz Force. It's more recent, and I do know one person on here who has played it other than myself, but other than that, I don't know of anyone who likes it.

I bought Hexyz Force a couple months ago. Wasn't really a fan of it, and sold it not too soon after. I did love Riviera though. Definitely one of my favorite GBA games. Even bought it when they re-released it for the PSP.

Evolution Worlds really cut down the content in Evolution 1. And I guess the VA was okay, but I preffer the Japanese from E2.

Summon Knight 1 is AWESOME! Haven't played 2 yet.
I've heard that Yggdra Union and KitN are insanely hard.

Yggdra Union is great, just extremely fragile. If you slip up once, it haunts you for the rest of the game.

Best undervalued RPG ever: Radiata Stories. I bought it brand new for ten bucks a few years ago, and I still play it regularly.

I know of Riviera because once upon a time I helped rip some sprites from it

Quest 64 was awesome, I remember trying to convince my parents to get it by saying "It has good graphics!", and they said "You don't even know what graphics are!". I didn't know what they were, but still.....

We ended up renting it, but only one time, so I don't remember much about it. :S

And the only other RPG in this thread that I've heard of is Evolution Worlds, at least I think. XD

Other than that, I don't know any obscure ones myself. :S

Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon.
Playing that game is like playing a work of art. Beautiful characters, scenery, music... everything. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay was really terrible, but it was worth it. xD

I loved Riviera. I had a copy, but I lost it when I moved, sadly.

Another one I am working on enjoying is Moon: RPG Remix Adventure by Love-de-Lic. I just started it and am still in Fake Moon.

Some more that I like are the SMT: Digital Devil Saga games, Costume Quest, Metal Walker, Keitai Denjuu Telefang, Vandal Hearts, Azure Dreams, and a few others I can't seem to remember right now.

~Kingdom of Loathing~ (internet access)

Playable for free if you make/have an account:

www dot kingdomofloathing dot com

is a turn based RPG. Though there is no 3D graphics, the education and comedy value make for a rather unique experience.
There are familiars that help by slowing the enemy, boosting monetary gain rate, loot drop rates, stat gain boosts, and HP/MP recovery. Some even act as a shiel while others drop useful items.

Also, Canadian dollars used for the premium content turn into "Mr. Eh"
while most other currency become "Mr. A".

~Drakan: The Ancient's Gates~ (Playstation 2)

Like playing a Zelda game if Link was female and rode a dragon.
Like playing an Eragon game that DOES NOT suck.
Like playing a Zelda where kills can level the hero.

The game play is rather similar to the Zelda titles for Nintendo 64. Except later in game comes aerial combat against flying creatures and dragons. There is even a shopkeeper that might remind some gamers of StarFox.

There is even a 'password' for money and/or a level-up.
The heroine resembles Lara Croft for some reason...

Rhapsody, A Musical Adventure
Originally released for the PSX, it was remade for the DS a couple years ago. I've played the DS version and enjoyed it. Nothing too challenging, it's your basic turn-based RPG, but it did had that certain charm that made me like it.

I've played both, and if you liked the DS version, I highly recommend the original Playstation version. For one, the battle system isn't nearly as watered down as the remake.

The only obscure RPGs I have played are Baten Kaitos (NGC), Mother (series: NES, SNES and GBA), Phantasy Star Zero (NDS), Azure Dreams (PS1 and GBC), Evolution Worlds (NGC) and Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced (GBA and NDS).

By the way, whoever mentioned Final Fantasy VII has never asked about that game. It's the most known RPG along with Chrono Trigger in the history of RPGs. It's rare to see somebody that doesn't knows about it (and the you-know-what scene)*.

*I'm only calling it that way because I don't want to spoil that part of the story.

The Evolution series has already been mentioned, so I will throw in the Jade Cocoon series.

Yet another monster collecting game, but with many obvious things to set it apart.

In the first one you get into hand-to-hand combat with the monsters to shank them before you can capture them.

In the second you control a ring of beasts to have eight-on-eight battles. Seriously.

In both games you make horrible cross-breed experiments to give you limitless possibilities!

I've always wanted Pokemon to have this feature, but of course nothing you breed actually makes something new. :(

Yeah, Summon Night is a great underrated series. Didn't like Twin Age as much as Swordcraft Story (never played Swordcraft Story 2), but it was still a great game, and challenging. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA) and A2 (DS) are about my favourite games on both consoles.
I play RuneScape. My username is Pyre Guthix.

Beaten to it...

Riviera: The Promised Land is pretty good. I just picked it up a few days ago, but I'm already hooked.

Yggdra Union is confusing... Must get back to that...

Oh boy, I forgot to mention one of my favorite games of all time. Digimon World 2.

I've still never beaten it. My team at the latest point in the game I got to was Pied/Pierrotmon, Skullmammothmon, and Metalseadramon. Two of the Dark Masters. Oh yeah.
