Pokemon ruined my life. If it wasn't for Pokemon, I'd be much less of a nerd, and not be able to count my irl friends with my fingers.
Then again, I also might be just as socially awkward, but more frequently bored.
I don't think its Pokemons fault that you're a nerd? Lol. I play the Pokemon games, I collect/trade/duel with Yugioh cards, Dragon Ball Z is still the coolest thing ever to me, and next to my girlfriend I think Sonic The Hedgehog is the greatest thing to ever exist. Got a little off topic, lol. The Point is that you can see I'm a big nerd. I have plenty of friends though, some with similar interests, and some who think Pokemon is the gayest thing ever. Don't blame the 'mon. Haha.

It's something you never grow out of as much as you think you want to forget it.
That is so very true. You just can't get out of the habit. I mean, I've tried to stop playing Pokemon because people say its "nerdy" or I just got bored of it, but I can't.

OK, so fir my B-Day, my grandma gave me a GBA. That was in 2005. So I also got Herby Fully Loaded but it sucked, managed to beat the whole game. Then, I got Firered. Let me tell you, I was born in '99 and my bro '95. We never heard of it Pokemon until Firered came out. We were immature back then, naming our rival Butt, and pestering his friend to trade all the Kanto starters. We put in over 100 hrs of gameplay and still have it. The save battery is fully functional, never changed it. So I started collecting the games. Everybody at my school calls me a PokeNerd but I'm fine w/ that. I'm playing Yellow as I type this :]

You really never heard of Pokemon until Fire Red came out!? O:
Yeah I know, I was late. I love my mom! :)
Oh and you know what? The most recent GameInformer dissed PKMN saying "You battle mutant stuffed animals" and "It's going downhill"
. I'm pretty pissed. 1 guy at my school laughed at that and I punched him in the face.

Pokemon... Pokemon has opened my eyes to a completely new, fresh world. Where there are no limitations to how far imagination can go. Where you're free to explore life with little fire breathing animals, and rats that shoot electricity out of their cheeks. It's been such an amazing experience that no other gaming series can imitate...

Lmao, in all honesty, Pokemon hasn't done much for me. xD

I heard about Pokemon getting dissed. Well, I read about it on some other forum here. You really punched the guy in the face? Lol. That must have shocked him. What did he do? Anyone who disses the 'mon deserves a punch, in my opinion anyway. Haha.

Lol. I read that and was like "wow, that's really great". Then I read what you said after, haha. Well, at least you can make it seem as though its helped you a lot?

wouldn't have a nintendo DS and High school won't be fun
I agree. I wouldn't have a Dsi if it wasn't for Pokemon. I originally bought a Nintendo DS Lite to play Pokemon Diamond. I liked the system and the features, so when the Dsi came out, I upgraded. Lol.

My first game was red, which I bought since all my cousins were playing it. Since I was just a little kid, I didn't know how to get "updated" on pokemon, so I didn't know when GSC came out which meant that I stopped playing pokemon. I guess I slowly became one of those people who thought pokemon was childish =P
then in 10th grade I saw someone playing emerald and my pokemon craze started from there. Now, it's been 2 years and I've played every single pokemon game, watched every episode of the anime, and read the pokespe manga. I even wrote a fanfic for my OC. In a way, pokemon has become my "alternate life". The characters and pokemon aren't just pixels on a screen, they are alive and living in my mind/imagination. (for some reason that last sentence sounded a bit cheesy xD)

Anyway, I don't know exactly how to describe or explain it, but I can definitely say that without pokemon I would be having a very different (and much more stressful) life :)
I know I will never grow out of pokemon. It just makes me sad that except on this forum I can't seem to find anyone else who likes pokemon.

Red was my first game too! Lol. I loved it, and still do. I've written a few fanfics myself, they've never seen the white space of anything but MS Word though. Haha. I know what you mean about the Pokemon lovers only seeming to be on this forum, sad stuff really.

haha yeah, I just write fanfics for fun, I don't upload them to a site like some other people do. Sometimes I get paranoid that I'm going to be the only pokemon fan or something because I hardly know anyone in real life who plays and more and more people (including on forums) seem to be leaving the fandom xD

I don't know to many people who really play anymore either. I know of a few friends, but that's about it. I mean there's all the people on this site, but I know most of them are here for reasons other then loving to play the games. I myself originally signed up because I'm a hacker and working a FireRed hack. Yeah though, I don't see as much fan-fiction online anymore. Its a shame, some of the stuff I've read is really creative. The few people I do know who write/wrote fan-fiction told me that expanding/changing the Pokemon World has made them more creative, I hope that doesn't stop.

Pokemon for me has help me connect with some of my best friends now. It also solves any of boredom in classes because I always can think of new sets that would work for Competitive battling.
One of my best friends is also a big time Pokemon fan. Its helps with my boredom problems too, lol. Sometimes instead of taking notes I'll write down what attacks would effect certain types really good or what types match up okay with other types. Haha. It takes a little bit of the stress out of class, yet another plus.

The one main thing pokemon has done for me is make me a GIANT closet nerd. Oh and it's also took may hours off my life :D
Go Pokemon!
Don't blame the little mutants for making you a nerd, its not their fault. Lol. I'm to sure what you mean by "closet nerd", but I assume you mean you're secretly a nerd? Which if so, is not bad at all (: The majority of people I know that play Pokemon play it because they get bored, so think of what you would have been doing if Pokemon hadn't "taken hours off your life", nothing probably. Lol. You're right though, go Pokemon!

when i starded liking pokemon i was 5 or something. i had some of 1000 pokemon cards, almost watching the anime everyday. i had 2 big posters of meoth and pikachu and a pokemball wich i could transform into mew but i got scared of meoth and everything went to dump. 3 years ago a friend had pokemon diamond. he got 1 pokemon game a week. then a week later my dad said come to my room and see whats on tv? i rushed to my room (and struggled, lol) and watched 5 pokemon episodes. then my sister got a ds and i a psp. a adult friend of me on a day give me pokemon diamond and i got my sis her ds quickly. she got a new ds . i bought somewhat in 360 pokemon cards . then a friend who was a enemy then came to my home asking if i had pokemon cards. we then became friends by pokemon cards. i first knew more about pokemon but with black and white i only know the first 493 pokemon and he all them. the day now my old friends call me and serdar (my bbf) pokemon freaks. the 2 of us just cant do without pokemon coz thats what made us friends. we love it that much we buy each 1 of the new pokemon games . i buyd soulsilver, he was that lucky to find pokemon heartgold, pokemon ranger 1 and pmd blue rescue team. now im gonna buy pokemon white and he pokemon black. and whatever my other 'friends' say, im not gonna stop with pokemon because it gives me memories, strategy, i spend hours on it and learn my english with it. and thats somewhat my story i guess!
also, Go pokemon !

I've always been lonely, and even as a young boy, I never had friends and the people I stuck with at school when I was young was only because they had no friends either. But this wasn't "my life", my life was when I threw my bag on the floor grabbed my Game Boy and threw in my big red cartridge and opened my eyes to my world, "the world of pokemon". As I have grown up, with family troubles and school problems, I was always able to close my eyes and open them up in the other world.
Even now, my best friends are the ones I sit at school with and talk about which pokemon we are gonna get when black and white come out and have a real laugh playing mario kart. The only reason I am the way I am today is because of pokemon, they made me see the art in video games and I will never go back.

My bro actually saw the anime first and got hooked after flipping through channels after commercials on Digimon. :]
I remember the original anime. Ah, the good days. Lol. I used to watch it on Saturdays all the time when I was little, at least I think that's when it came on? The anime was great, really touching too. I remember when Ash stood in-front of all those Spearow to protect Pikachu but all of the sudden Pikachu ran up his back, jumped, and shocked the s^it out of the whole flock. Then as both of them were laying on the ground, exhausted, Pikachu licked Ash's cheek. T.T
As "nerdy" as it might sound, I learned some of my morals from watching the Pokemon anime, lol.

Me and my friends talk about what Pokemon we'll get when Black & White come out too. Lol. That's wonderful though. A really wonderful story. Same thing with me. I don't ever see myself growing out of Pokemon. It has done to much for me to allow that to happen. Maybe there will come a time where I don't have the time to play anymore, but I doubt it, and if that time ever comes, I can always think back to the hours of traversing the Pokemon World as Red in my Red Version back in '96.

Pokemon has been in my life as long as I can remember. I might go as far to say that it helped form who I am today. It has even taught me some important things in life, like morals (believe it or not).
Of course, there is the draw back of being teased for liking it, but I've moved passed that stage and really don't care what people think. I'm proud to call myself a nerd/geek...some of the awesomest people are.
I have connected with so many people and made many friends because of pokemon. Its a long story, but I've even learned how business works because of them. I probably wouldn't have a paypal or bankaccount if I wasn't a huge fan of it.

I graduated highschool this summer and decided to take a year off before heading to college...to get my license, a job, and think about what I want to major in. I took a break from pokemon for a few months and started wondering if I would go back...turns out, I did, and more so then ever. This year has been very rough on me emotionally, but also productive. Playing my pokemon games really helps me get through some tough times, and keeps me occupied throughout unemployment.

Pokemon are amazing and have done so much for me. I don't see myself ever outgrowing it.

See, its more then just a game. And if all the people who label us as "geeks" or "nerds" heard some stories like this, I don't think they'd be so quick to judge. I believe you about the morals, I've learned some morals from Pokemon as well. Lol.

one day i ran out of usable pokemon and a bunch of wild ones stole my wallet whilst i was passed out on the ground
That's terrible! Didju try finding them when you woke up? I bet you were pissed, you must have had a lot of Pokedollars, huh?
